We noted the other day the lack of Georgia peaches at our grocery store. There were California peaches, but no George pieces to be had. We saw on TV one of the shopping channels offering fresh to you Georgia peaches 13 of them for $70. Ouch! As it happened, I was destined to drive down i-95 south through Georgia on my way back to Florida and saw the signs for the Georgia peach world that exits 87 and 55. As the typical summer weather was upon us and it was going to rain soon, I stopped it the exit 87 store. I walked inside the store and saw numerous items. Some immediately peach related, others great Southern treats from Georgia. A young man working in the store asked me if I would like to try some frozen peach cider. It certainly obliged his request and tried some of the cold concoction. For the hot summer day it was perfect. I also tried samplings of pecan butters. I ended up grabbing a jar and bought that before heading outside to look at the peaches. So outside they had their peaches and they came in a small and large basket size and you could also buy small box which was larger than the large basket. The young men out there identified they had your typical yellow peaches and they also had some white peaches. Oh this was a great find. I ended up buying a large basket of each type. I paid $65 for the two baskets. When I got home, we noted that I had purchased 28 peaches. Notably the white peaches are about a third again is big as yellow peaches. My wife will attest to the fact that the peaches are delicious. I unfortunately had to wait, as I went to the dentist the next day. I'm just about over that discomfort and look forward to trying the peaches out myself. Moral of the story, by local. Stop at Georgia Peach World. Get some great peaches while they're still available and get a great value at the same time. PS. Don't forget to try the frozen cider cider, the pecan butters, or any other taste testing they may be offering, as it will be a definite treat for...
Read moreWelcome to Georgia Peach World, where the name is charming, the ads are everywhere, and the experience... well, let's just say it needs a little extra something.
Let's start with the fresh fruit stand, which is supposedly the star attraction. You'd expect to walk away with one of those cute, Instagram-worthy fruit baskets, right? Wrong! Instead, you get your peaches in a plain ol' grocery bag. It's like expecting a romantic serenade and getting elevator music instead. The magic of Georgia's famed peaches? Yeah, it's kind of lost in the mundane packaging.
Kids looking for fun? Well, let's just say the entertainment options are as sparse as a peach tree in winter. The highlight for the little ones is a photo inside a peach cutout. It's cute, but it's also the only game in town. So, if you’re hoping for a family-friendly adventure, you might be left with some disappointed kiddos.
This is not a peach farm! It’s a store. A cute, fun store with lots of peach 🍑 stuff but don’t expect to go on a peach adventure.
And those highway ads and billboards that got you all excited? They’re the real star here. They promise so much, only for you to arrive and think, "Wait, was that it?" Spoiler alert: Yes, yes it was.
In a nutshell, Georgia Peach World is more like Georgia Grocery Store. It's not the unique, thrilling destination the name and marketing suggest. It's a regular pit stop with a peachy twist, but not enough to make it...
Read moreI stopped for gas right next door and saw this place and decided to stop in. Everything here is neatly displayed and organized. If you want some really delicious pecans and peach products then it's definitely worth your time. They have a variety of bagged pecans, whole pecans in shells, or plain unshelled pecans, confectionery coated pecans, spicy coated pecans, and my personal favorite chocolate covered pecans. At the front counter you can sample all of these. ( my problem is the chocolate covered pecans I couldn't stop eating.) As I walked around I saw interesting products made from fresh peaches including raw honey and peach scented candles. I bought Peach Praline Butter, Peach Brittle and a Peach dressing for salad, Peach Jelly Beans, and of course a large bag of their chocolate covered pecans. They sell all different types of Moonshine, Wine, and Peach Cider which is unique. While your there you can also pickup homemade coffee cakes and tee-shirts.I believe they have some toys for kids too. This is a unique store so you will pay more for things, but it's so worth it. Everything I bought was delicious. The woman behind the counter was very friendly. I felt like I was transported back to the old South. There's plenty of parking and they have a wooden cut out shaped like a peach so kids can put their head through it and take pictures. If I'm in the area again I will...
