Oh my. What a run-down place full of experiences that I can't even begin to explain. But I'll try. Trying to use the keyless lock was the first indication that we were in trouble. The trick was that you had to turn the handle up and almost break the door to get it open. At least the friendly gentleman at the desk was pleasant and welcoming. He even gave us free water bottles to make up for the trouble... which repeated when we got to the room. We gave up on the keyless entry and just got keys from the front desk. We walked past leaking ice machines, running children, and scratched up wallpaper that's being replaced, thank goodness, because it looked like the hook-handed man from my nightmares has been running amok in the hallways. The room was nice and great for an extended stay. I just pray I never need one. In the morning, I had the opportunity to wade through groups of hungry people to look at what's available for breakfast. I guess that it's a good sign that the hotel is busy, so maybe our experience is a one-time thing (here's hoping) Breakfast was nothing fancy, but the girls making the meal we doing a fantastic job at keeping up. Breakfast could use some more vegetarian friendly options in the warm case, though. There was a sign on the water/juice station saying it was not for filling water bottles and many people we using it for water bottles anyway. We found out that water bottles had a station in the gym, but when I went it the pleasantly placated purgatory of a gym, I discovered it was broken. Good thing we got those free water bottles, unfortunately 2 free bottles for the 3 of us might create a fight between us, but that story review will be on the place for a divorce lawyer at a later date....stay tuned. Anywho, the hotel is like any other hotel out there, so pick your battles, like the employee who was more concerned there was a dog by the juice station instead of telling the mom not to continue to take plates and plates of food to, what I can guess, restock her fridge upstairs with all the food at the counter, which made it so that the rest of us were looking longingly at the partially empty shelves full of the gross left overs...mostly the wheat bran, and fruit bowl, and don't get me started on the unrefridgerated hard-boiled eggs. Good thing I like bananas, Otherwise, who knows what disaster would have prevailed to the building's plumbing. I hope they'll be able to take the renovation money after the wallpaper is done and fix their broken things so the experience can be elevated for the next time we need to stay. Cause you know we go to the hotels that are the least expensive, and you get what...
Read moreThis hotel was great for our team. The rate was extremely reasonable for the 7 days of our stay, which worked out to $148/night. We were looking for an affordable option for a room that could accommodate up to 6, offered free breakfast, but also had a kitchen so that we could make meals. We did not end up cooking but the large refrigerator, microwave, and sink was very convenient for our extended stay.|The room was also quite large and gave us enough space to spread out and still have a separate living area, so we didn’t have to eat on our beds. It was nice to have the curtain that separated the living area from the beds, because we could turn the lights on and not wake my sleeping kids.|We also used their laundry facilities. I had planned to wash clothes and brought our own detergent and dryer sheets. Would recommend bringing your own as each load to wash or dry was $3. |We had a party of 14 and the lobby/dining area was large enough to congregate. There is also large outdoor areas, which we would have utilized, had it not been 100° every day we were there.|Downsides - we did see a tiny roach. But it is the south and a room where people have cooked. So we just made sure to take our food trash out daily and not leave anything to attract more critters. We also kept our bags zipped. There’s long counters so the 3 of us were able to have our carryons and suitcases accessible with no hassle. |The pool. It’s is a tiny square and the smell of chlorine was so strong you could smell it outside. Despite that, there were tons of people in the pool day and night! |The bathroom. It’s a little small and the sliding door opens right into the kitchen. A little off-putting. We just made sure to keep the door closed so the toilet wasn’t feet from your refrigerator. It definitely was fine to sacrifice bathroom space for a large living space.|Our venue was at Savannah State and worried about the distance. It was about a 25-30 min drive but it was pleasant and we didn’t encounter major traffic. So if a little drive doesn’t both you, this is a good option. |The location of the hotel itself - it’s right on a major highway strip, and there are restaurants, gas stations, and Peach World just steps away. (Definitely stop at Flacos House which is just next door!) |I would recommend if you’re a family looking for a nice clean option. Breakfast is pretty ample. Everything worked in the room. The hotel was full the entire week we were there, but we did not have any issues with parking space. And the staff was...
Read moreAn older, smaller Home2 Suites, didn’t quite live up to our experience with other Home2 Suites (currently our preferred hotel brand due to their multiple amenities), but better than many other hotels. They were completely booked, understaffed (only one person working the evening shift) payed over $100 more for the room, than other locations. They were rationing keys, limit 2, and the mobile key system was down. AC in room 117 (accessible tub room) barely worked, (Lobby and hall were very cool) blinds had been broken and closet curtain was hanging in its place, no blackout curtain. Many of the USB plugs didn’t work. Bathroom door would constantly shut, couldn’t leave ajar to see at night. Bathroom was dim. Trash and crumbs left under the AC unit, and hair in the tub and drain was broken but usable. At least 2 spiders and some little flies in the kitchen area of the room. Roll out table was very wobbly. TV had an annoying blue hue. Fridge was too close to the room door, making it awkward to access. Room door, fridge and bathroom doors all need to be coordinated to access. Front covered drive only fit one car, which made for some accessibility issues, especially during a heat wave or if it’s raining. Can only load one vehicle at a time. While we were loading with our medically fragile child, another wheelchair user was unable to load. Did appreciate the Home2 Suite features of apartment sized fridge, sink, microwave, dishes, the beds and pillows were clean and very comfy. Breakfast was good, but only 1 waffle maker. Counters were roll up, towel hooks were lower. Beds were a normal height. Had the lower lock, but not the peephole. Room was a little narrow from an accessibility standpoint only, but otherwise spacious, we had multiple traffic jams, and that’s with leaving the wheelchair in the car (ambulatory wheelchair user). Overall moderate accessibility accommodations, but we’ve had better at other Home2 Suites, missing several smaller thoughtful touches we’ve grown accustomed to. Inside of tub is slightly raised compared to the bathroom floor, which can cause issues for some. Separate handheld sprayer in tub on adjustable rod. Overall, would keep this as our “backup“ over other “unknown” options from...
