This is the second and last bad experience at this place. Thought I'd give it a second chance, terrible again and no more..1st time in January, me and my girl ordered steaks picked them out, hers filet ($40) and me sirloin. We waited 45 minutes, Hers came butterfly and bloody which she stated she did not want it this way at ordering but medium well as she ordered; mine I ate no matter what..She asked to have it taken off the bill. The manager arrived with a sarcastic attitude she (manager) offered to cook another but only butterfly and did not indicate how much longer it would take. We said no thanks she'll take it home and cook it..I paid, she took it home and cooked it to avoid a fuss. She ended up eating fries and a vegetable for dinner that night and me the steak dinner (over cooked), 2 drinks..Tipped the waitress because she was very good and kind..Second visit worst than the 1st, we ordered steaks, mine Sirloin hers Filet with the sides "which come with them included "This time no problem to not butterfly!. My steak; medium well over done, hers came and it was absolutely not the Filet or the right steak but instead someone else's with a huge amount of blubbery fat obviously not the Filet she picked and burnt too...The ordeal all over once more, she asked to take it off the bill and again this same rude sarcastic cocky manger came out. We explained it was not what she picked but clearly evident it was not a $40 Filet, and wanted it taken off the bill..Arrogant frustrated manager brought out another uncooked Filet and said she could have this cooked as a replacement but could not say how long it would take! it was disgustingly brown on the bottom and she had dirty blue rubber gloves holding it in front of everyone to show her, No way I said..She took the blubbery steak off the bill never apologizing..My girl was hungry and ate some of the small order of fries in the time frame of about 10 minutes for the manager to analyze all this. I was hungry ate mine and shared some of my over cooked steak with her and ate the rest. The manager said she would not charge her for the sides and stated she remembered her from the last ordeal!. The bill came and she had the audacity to charge us $10 for the included sides which she claimed she would not do..At this point I said I'll just pay to avoid another incident and never go back..Again the waitress was great but the manager is rude, with a attitude and sarcastic instead realizing we just wanted a good meal willing to pay for good service...The Bill again was $85 without the steak with the tip for the waitress for this terrible experience...They need to get rid of this brute of a manager..I know its gotten costly but for around $120 you should still get a descent dinner..Never...
Read moreHaven't been to a Texas Roadhouse for several years, so when our granddaughter got a free kid's meal coupon and we were finishing up at a nearby trampoline park, it seemed an opportune time to try this new, nearby location.
The first thing that struck me was the size of this newer location - smaller than others nearby and elsewhere across the country. The second was no more peanuts or peanut shells on the floor - a bit of whimsy lost to a not-so-bygone era, it seems.
The process to get seated without wait-listing online was smooth and reasonable for a Saturday night. The seating, aisles, and general feel of the place was tight - too tight for the number of staff and patrons trying to safely navigate around each other, and too tight of a seating area to comfortably manage plates, menus, etc. Combine this with the noise level of a busy house making ordinary conversation difficult and the atmosphere becomes an impediment to an overall satisfying experience.
Our family tries to eat smart, especially when dining out. We were pleased with the ample chicken and seafood selections offered along with the tantalizing selection of pick-your-own steaks in the cooler - a pleasure now unattainable because of dietary restrictions, to say nothing of the price.
The entrees we did choose - chicken and catfish - were anemic in portion size for the price charged. On the positive side, the Texas version of the Bloomin' Onion was tasty and satisfying. My wife said the baked sweet potato was the best part of her meal. The ample rolls and butter were also good, but I can't help but think that these along with the apps and sides were meant to fill up on, so as to not complain as much about the small portions of meat provided. The kid's meal consisted of chicken nuggets of an equivalent to any fast food place - for $6.99? Had the meal not been free (the coupon-as-enticement-to-bring-the-whole-crew gimmick), I would have walked across the parking lot to Chick-Fil-A and done better for her.
There were plenty of friendly staff on hand to attend to needs quickly and efficiently, while dutifully trying to push appetizers and beverages as they are trained to do. The manager also checked in to see if everything was all right - which it was, as much as he could really do anything about it.
Overall it was a less than satisfying experience, but I wish I didn't have to say that. I fear that this is the trend that chain restaurants are moving toward - round 'em up, pack 'em in, sell em' up, move 'em out. Like they say there on your birthday...
Read moreThis is a newer Texas Roadhouse, I seen to recall seeing it being built and I recently stopped in to try it. There were two of us and we got there just before 6PM, but there was already a wait. This place sure seems to be popular, I don’t know why though.
Once seated, I tried their yeast roll with butter… it was decent, but far from anything I would crave. Next was to check out the menu and it looked interesting, with lots of tasty looking items. The rattlesnake bites make a great start, but they’re mostly cheese with jalapeño chopped up and mixed inside…. Tasty, but definitely not healthy. Next was a cup of chili and it was decent. Next was the starter salad; again, it was good too, but rather basic looking. The server told me they make their own dressings, so I got Thousand Island for the first time in about 20 years and I really enjoyed it.
I ordered their smallest filet and when ordering, I asked the server for medium rare plus… he said they don’t have that temperature as an option, so he suggested medium rare… I said just stick with medium. Well, once it arrive, it was close to well done (ridiculous!). I pointed it out to the server and he did offer to make me a new one, but I really don’t want that, I would prefer it’s done right the first time. Afterall, it’s a steak place, they should know how to properly cook steak! I will say that the baked potato was really good though!
Overall, it was just decent, but far from anything special. I’ve been to different Texas Roadhouse restaurants in the past (VA and here in PA) and have to say that I have yet to understand what it is that people raved about regarding this place… it’s slightly better than Outback, but FAR from the quality, flavor, consistency, and experience you get at a Capital Grille, Eddie V’s, Flemings, etc… the real chophouses.
Will I...
