Springhill Suites is my favorite type of Marriott hotel because I always know it will be a good stay. I love the layout and it is always comfy. Not this one. I know COVID has changed things and things will not be the same but some things you figure will be a no brainer.
Like if you ask for housekeeping from the app HOURS before you arrive, it will be taken care of and in your room. It wasn't. Luckily I asked before I went up so I didn't have to come back down and get everything. If that was everything then that would be fine. It was a lovely combo of things.
When I checked in, I was not asked what type of bonus I wanted- as a Titanium. Not a deal breaker but nice to have. No biggie.
I asked for an extra blanket and he gave me a comforter cover- kind of like a sheet- because that is what he was told to give people he said. I asked for shower gel and he gave me shampoo because he couldn't find any shower gel. I asked for a foam pillow and he said there weren't any. To me these are all very basic requests that should be easy to take care of but it was one night so I could deal. No biggie.
The lobby and the elevators were dirty but it was end of day so again no biggy but I did notice.
I had asked for a quiet room on a high floor and my room was next to the ice machine and elevator but again, maybe that was the best they had so I could deal with it for one night.
The room was clean which was good. However the bed was not at all comfortable- had lumps and ridges- and the pillows were horrendous- flat as a pancake. The air conditioner display was a blue light that lit up the entire room so between the bed, pillows, the highway noise and that blue light, I didn't sleep at all.
I had a meeting the next morning and I wanted to be refreshed and ready for it- so that's why I paid to stay in a hotel (closer from where I live) so I could do just that. The fact that I barely slept and felt shaky the rest of the day (and in my meeting) did not make me happy that I had stayed here.
So with the combo of all of that, I would not...
Read moreVery unimpressed with marriot my room was booked and paid a month in advance. We were already running late arriving at midnight instead of 10pm and were told our room at residence inn was out of order. They found us a room here but we had booked and paid for a 2 bedroom 2 bath suite with 2 King beds and instead we got a tiny room with 2 full size beds. Im 8 months pregnant and didn't sleep all night! The couch had food all over it and we had no choice at nearly 1:30 am than to just put a sheet on it and let the kids sleep. I was charged a 2nd time for the room "at the same rate" this was told to me like it was a good thing, this room was tiny and not worth the price! Of course it takes 3-5 business days before I get reimbursed 1 night from each hotel since we were double charged. Had we not had the extra $400 I'm guessing we would have had to sleep in the van that first night. We were told we could go back to the original room the next night we lost so much time to checking in and out of hotels I was unable to visit with friends, we missed a teammates fight at the tournament we were there for, and the kids were only able to swim for about 30 min (only because I had promised them they could). I tried to get a late check out to help save time and we were told that if we stayed past noon we would be charged for a 2nd day. The manager at residence inn was conveniently never there and after I was told he'd call me he never did. I was also told he'd be there at 7am Sunday so I went down to the lobby first thing and then was told no it will be 10...we had places to be at 10 and so i have still not heard from him. The only thing they offered us for our trouble was extra rewards points like we want...
Read moreMy son had a sporting event at the sports center across the street, and we had to choose between this hotel, the Courtyard Marriot, Hilton, Tru and some others. Since we are Bonvoy Members and we liked the idea of having a suite, we chose SpringHill Suites. We immediately regretted our decision.||We arrived late in the evening and had to get up at 6am the following morning, so we unpacked everything, made the pull-out sofa bed, and tried to get our son to bed ASAP. It was after we were all settled in and ready for bed that my wife realized our room had no hot water. When we picked up the phone to call the front desk, the phone did not work. After we finally spoke with the front desk, we were initially told that the hotel was sold out, and a maintenance person would come in the morning. So had no choice but to suck it up. Then about 15 mins later, a new room was found for us! But since we had to wake up in 5 and a half hours, we felt like we had no choice but to spend the night in that room so we could just get some sleep. But with the broken phone, the popcorn ceilings, every low pressure shower head (last changed in 1992 I would guess), and dated A/C unit, I just think there are better options there. We are going to try the Courtyard or Tru next year. ||I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 because we were eventually offered and moved to a new room-- and we did arrive late at night and the front desk guy was nice (and nothing was his fault). But for a major inconvenience like this though, I would expect some sort of small compensation (a voucher, comp one of the 3 nights, some Bonvoy points, a free bottle of water, or something...) I just expect better when I choose to stay at a...
