THIS IS A THOROUGH, DETAILED REVIEW OF COVER 3 WITHOUT ANY COMPENSATION IN EXCHANGE.
We walked in to a beautiful, soft and sultry ambiance. It was not crowded, but the venue was definitely spacious enough to hold a large capacity of people. It was very clean and offered a fusion between fine dining and a sports bar. The lighting was bright enough to see our tables and food but was dim enough so that it wasn't a distraction from the huge flatscreen tvs that were playing all different sports games there. Also, the lighting is perfect for the eyes of patrons who have been enjoying drinks all night!
We were PROMPTLY approached by our gracious server, Michael. He was accomodating, knowledgeable, and kind. He took our order right away and I cannot believe how quick our drinks and app came right out after ordering!!
My husband ordered 2 ice cold Corona beers and I ordered a frozen BLACK CHERRY MARAGARITA. It was amazing because the bartender was heavy handed on the alcohol, giving a good kick to the drink without it being overpowering. It was sweet and sour, with a tang from the fresh black cherry puree and the exact consistency a frozen marg should be. It was flavorful, fresh, garnished and already served with a straw, the way I like it!!!
For our app, we ordered crispy GARLIC PARMESEAN WINGS. When I say yum I mean it!!!! Crispy and golden on the outside and juicy and flavorful on the inside. Usually, lots of places we have gone to could not get the chicken just right, but Cover 3 did!! That was an absolute plus because my husband is a chicken hawk who usually has something to say but said nothing at all this night. He was too busy chewing and being amazed at great chicken!!
Next, our entrees came out and I was drooling.
This FRENCH ONION BURGER was sooooo good!! A big, soft, brioche bun with a thick, juicy, seasoned beef patty sat on top of a hugeee, crispy onion ring and melty cheese all over and paired with a huge portion of crispy, garlic parmesean shoestring fries. Ughhhh....TO. DIE. FOR.
I ordered another BLACK CHERRY MARGARITA. Michael asked if I would like it now or in a bit. I asked for the drink to be delivered in 5 mins and lo and behold, it was delivered exactly when I asked and it came out same as the first!! We told Michael it was my husband's birthday and he immediately let us know we'd receive our dessert free.
The lovely manager, Bianca, came to join us to ask how our food and service was. We let her know it was soo good and I just loved how cool and inviting she is. Such a beautiful soul. Bianca is an amazing manager who is on top of all of the employees to make sure this location was running at optimal performance. She made sure to remind us that my husband's birthday dessert would be free and she left her business card with us in case we wanted to make a reservation.
The dessert we picked was the BIG OL' BROWNIE and boy was it was big!! It had candied walnuts, powdered sugar, caramel sauce and chocolate ganache. The walnuts inside the brownie were both crunchy, and yet melted into this deliciously decadent chocolate confection when you chewed it. Huge, thick and definitely meant for two to share, it was topped off with creamy, vanilla ice cream.
Mainly, mostly all of Cover 3's staple ingredients are made fresh and in-house inside their glorious craft kitchen and the fresh taste of their cuisine lets you know just that!
But the best part of all????? The price point!! With 2 beers, 2 frozen drinks, a 10 pc wing appetizer, 2 hand crafted burgers & fries AND a sharable dessert were only $83 and since Bianca comped our last 2 drinks & dessert, the price came to 65!!!!
Our experience was so amazing and memorable for my husband's birthday. He loved that he could thoroughly enjoy himself while watching sports, having good food and drink, with superb customer service to match. I would definitely recommend that everyone come and experience this place for themselves.
Cover 3 Round Rock gets 5/5 stars in my book!!Thank you Bianca, Michael and all of Cover 3 staff. You all were...
Read moreI want to start off by saying that out of the multiple times we have been to Cover 3 this is the only experience that was negative. I debated on even writing this review, but I feel as though the management should be informed of the tragedy of errors last night. I called up to ask how long the wait was and the person initially answering the phone stated 20-25 minutes and asked if I would like to be put on the list. We are about 25 minutes away so I told her I would call back in a few minutes. About 10 minutes later I call and the lady (not sure if it is the same one) informs me that they are no longer doing call ahead seating and that the wait is now 30-40 minutes. That kind of gives me pause but I understand. It’s Saturday and the food here is great so we leave it at that and headed down anyway. We get there about 10-15 minutes later. We wait in line behind someone talking to the host and we assume this is a customer. After about 5 minutes the host look around this person and acknowledges us. I guess she just didn’t see us, and clearly this is not a customer just another friend or coworker. She states the wait time is 5-10 minutes and gets my wife’s phone number. We stand outside the door and after 20 minutes and watching multiple people walk in and be seated, I decide to check where we are at on the list. I go to the host and she cannot find us on the list. We know that we were on it because my wife received a neat text saying we were checked in. This is disappointing. She states she will clear a table and seat us as soon as possible. They seat us at table 45 which also has another table next too it vacant and clean, also they have 10 tables I could have been sat at outside with only 1 family in total outside. So far, my wife is upset, and our date night is going down quick. We get our drink order taken quickly by what I can assume is our waitress and I think this might get a little better. After receiving our drinks, we sat there for probably 20 minutes watching this waitress help other tables and never stop back by. After a while another staff member approached us and said that he would now be our waiter and some confusion happed. No apologies from the host or this guy but he seemed excited to help us and took our appetizer orders. He said I’ll be right back with some waters and your silverware. We didn’t see this guy again until 10-15 minutes after our appetizers had been delivered. While waiting and watching our food cool, I got up and went back up to the same host and asked for silverware. Someone brought them before our waiter even showed back up. We didn’t receive our waters. After the appetizers we left as we could only assume this level of service would continue. It didn’t feel that busy for a Saturday night. I have been her for brunch when you wait forever to get in and the service was amazing. Something was off and I want to let the management know. It’s hard to get out without the kids and we want to keep going to a place that is consistent. Please fix this as this is one of our favorite places to eat and we would hate to find a new spot for our date nights. The food was amazing, so I had to give it some stars. Keep the chef, our food was...
Read moreMy first time visiting and Cover 3's delivery was kind of flat.
The first drink I ordered was the Bourbon-Mint Black Cherry Lemonade and although I'm very fond of drinks with mint either this drink had too much of it or was just a bad pour....not a hint of Maker's on a single sip.
My main course was the Hickory Burger and although it was cooked perfectly it just didn't seem to have that signature flavor you expect from a burger with bacon and what should be a sweet and savory barbecue sauce....maybe it was the mayo (not sure why chefs think this is a winning combination).
The parmasean fries are just no. Cover 3's fries are on the miniature side and while I'm not holding their snack size portions of potatoes against them, when they arrived to my spot at the bar they felt like they were fried way too hard, they might as well have been crackers. What flavor was supposed to be on those fries was most like sunk in the bottom of their fryer. The parmasean flakes themselves appeared to be little more than garnish to add some pop to my plate's presentation.
I want to make a note that my second drink was made by a different bartender; when she first came in she was at the hostess station and then moved behind the bar, then back and forth....I'm assuming she was the Front of House Manager. She greeted me despite being pretty much done with my food and invited me to order another drink. Based on her recommendation, I went with the Cover 3 Margarita. Based on the flavor, and the wallop with which this drink packed, I'll take that as an apology for the previous drink that was a disappointment. Had I not had to be somewhere I'd probably have tried another drink as long as she made it.
Lastly, the atmosphere in Cover 3 has potential but it just doesn't seem like a typical Sports Bar, maybe it was my time of arrival (Sunday around 3:30pm) but it screamed "family restaurant" rather than "bring the boys".
Would I return? Maybe. But since I've recently relocated to this part of the metro area I'll probably spin the block on a good number of other spots before...
