Honestly, I would not give this property 1star (couldn't leave a review without giving a star). Do not choose this property! Firstly, my concerns were going off even before we arrived. I actually booked through our Wyndham account several months in advance as we were just going to be staying in St Augustine for two days until we departed for our final vacation destination. I knew we were going to be getting in closer to midnight and wanted the staff to be aware we were going to be a very late check in. It took me calling 5times before anyone answered.... Then once someone did answer and I tried to give them my information so they could make a note on my reservation, the woman wouldn't take my information. Though I thought that was fine, I received a call later that night from staff wanting to know if we were still coming...... This would have saved staff time had the girl I spoke with took my information and maybe made a note on my reservation. Secondly, our room..... WOW! Not sure where to begin.... Once we opened the door, we we're hit with a the amazing sent of mustiness. Since we had been traveling for nearly 5 hours, my wife had to use the restroom first. While doing so I heard a scream as she ran out of the restroom, there was a roach crawling across the toilet paper she had reached for. Sure, your thinking one roach not a big deal...... Think Again! By the time I took care of the first bug and brought in our overnight bag, there was a second roach to greet me by the sink..... And then the nightmare of a night began! Over the next 30 minutes we killed roughly 5 more roaches and one in the bed!!! You might then say, why didn't we ask for another room....that's where my next issue comes. Thirdly, since killing over 5 roaches within our first hour, my wife went to the front desk to ask if we can change rooms. The woman at the front desk (whom also remained on her cell phone the entire conversation) told my wife that we could not change rooms. When my wife questioned why, the girl at the front desk told my wife that she could not change our rooms because she was not sure what rooms didn't have bugs. To clarify, my wife questioned what she meant, and the girl at the front desk confirmed all the rooms had bugs! My wife then asked to get a refund for our stay and we would stay elsewhere..... My wife was then told that she could not be refunded, that only the manager could refund and he would not be in until 9am the next morning. Defeated my wife returned to our room while we attempted to get some rest. As we moved the blanket to try and lay down for a few hours, we discovered that our sheets were also dirty and did not appear to be cleaned! We put the blanket back as my wife and I could not bring ourselves to lay on dirty sheets. We decided to just sit up on towels and watch TV. Over the next hour or so I killed several more roaches, had to move the mini fridge to kill several roaches that were under the fridge. Ultimately, neither of us got any sleep!!! My wife has pretty bad allergies and she ended up sitting in the car for some time as she could not stay in the room because of the amount of dust. Then we thought, finally 9am - let's go see the manager ----- Nope never actually got to see the manager! At 9am my wife went to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager, only to be told the manager was not in and the girl (different one from the one we spoke with the night before) could not really tell us when the manager would be in. At this point we were beyond over it and told the girl we will wait right there for the manager. Clearly the girl did not want us to wait by the front desk as she could just do a refund for the night plus the amount I had already prepaid. We just took the refund and checked out. This is not how we expected to start our vacation and we were truly disappointed in the way the issue was handled. You would think a Wyndham Hotels property would get random checks from Wyndham Hotels to make sure everything is run and taken care of. However, this does not seem to be the case.

This property was in complete despair and obviously rundown. The exterior of the hotel is not what is pictured in the online photos. There is mold growing along the outside of the facility, the outside sitting areas look as if they have not been cleaned in years, and the ice machine had dark black mold growing around the machine as well as on the dispensing area (completely unsanitary). As for the room itself, it was reprehensible. There was mold and mildew all over the shower, the shower head, and the shower drain. The walls were also covered with dark mold and were disgusting. In fact, we refused to step foot into this shower whatsoever ( this shower wasn't even fit to bath a stray animal in). We also had to brush our teeth using bottled water because the room water had a pungent smell like rotten eggs (this was most likely because of high sulfur content which the property should have solved by utilizing a purifier system). Additionally, the room door was rusted, moldy, and the "safety" lock was attached to the drywall with screws (not anchored to a stud which provided zero safety reinforcement capabilities at all). The odor of musk in the room was also abhorrent, the AC system worked intermittently, the room furniture was torn and damaged (seems as if all furniture was second hand purchased at best). I spoke with the office staff and was told our reservation was non refundable and that they could not do anything. Again, this was not all that surprising, considering the condition of the property; I did not expect much assistance. We decide to leave the very next morning knowing we would not receive any type of a refund. The fact they charge anywhere from $250-$300 a night for a property that is in such disarray is deplorable. Again, the pictures online compared to the actual appearance of this property could not be further apart. I am posting this review to let other potential clients know exactly what you can expect from a stay at this property. Additionally, if you decide to make a reservation, make sure you have a cancellation option and do not pay for anything until you view the accommodations they are planning to provide you. This facility is dilapidated and run down. For the price you pay and the experience you can expect you are better off staying at a budget inn for $69 a night. Please beware as this is truly a bait and switch type of property. See the attached images for actual proof of the room and hotel.

Great place to sleep but room 108 did not provide a hot shower.  The hot water lasted about 1.5 minutes then the temp dropped to luke warm.  Probably great during the summer season.  We did complain and were told 2 days in a row would be addressed.  We had 4 women in a room which keeps the cost low.  The layout of the room was not conducive to conversation unless you like to sit on a bed.  There was no table to play dice games.  We were going to use a square ottoman under the table between the beds but were afraid the table/drawer combo would fall off the wall. They only provide 3 pillows per bed, no extra blankets.  With 4 traveling everyone has different internal temps but still enjoys a hot shower.  The shower curtain was too short so water constantly splashed onto the floor and soaked the towel mat.  A major slip-fall hazard. The bathroom vanity was flaking.  Caution if using the hairdryer as the hot air leaked out between the external casing and would burn-you only do that once. Hairdryer also probably an electric hazard because you had to use the GFC on cord to power it on/off but at least that worked. Great location from the district to keep local noise down. However, you get that one noisy, inconsiderate neighbor and you will hear everything.  The door and door frame have a very wide gap. 5 minute walk to primary trolley station-see review on this.  This is no green motel, except for them saving on hot water.  Bring your own toiletries as they provide small, plastic ones.  This is a large property with decent parking.  The breakfast area was too small although had a nice hot breakfast to get you started.  Decently clean but no hand sanitizer when you entered the breakfast area.  Outside has a nice area to sit but it is very limited.  Staff very friendly and allowed us to keep luggage there before/after check out.  No water in the vending machine.  Would go back if had limited budget.  Hope they maintain this quaint, attractive motel surrounding the Old Senator Tree.

I'm giving a 2 as my final score. We stayed Oct 3-7. Our group had 2 rooms. Totalling well over $1,000 for our stay. In previous years I probably would have given a higher score even with the old rooms. Here is why. The honeymoon suite that we had for 4 days smelled of mildew VERY BAD. We've been gone from the hotel since Wed morn (it is now Fri night) & all of our items still smell like mildew. Including a new expensive pillow my daughter got for her birthday that cannot just be thrown in a washing machine. We paid $169 for our first night and then $118 per night after that and now I'll either spend more money paying for cleaning, or be throwing items away. The smell seems to be the strongest near the bathroom sink but as soon as you walk into the hotel room you can smell it.(we did not want to switch rooms because we were already having issues with staff over masks and thought it would get better if we turned AC on and opened the door, it did not get better) After reading some reviews I see that someone complained about this same issue in the same room a year ago, it has not been corrected. The mini fridge also smelled pretty bad and was very wet inside like it was sweating. My next issue with the room was the sofa/ futon which is not even something I would buy for my todder to sleep or sit on. was very small and uncomfortable. You couldnt even sit there to watch a show without your behind hurting. Our friends had a smaller room but their furniture was much nicer than ours. The remodel was some really shotty work. Which is very sad because I'm sure the owner put a lot of money into that. I took pics but this wont let me post them. The bathroom door would never close because the hinge was not properly installed. Windows were super old and framing was not properly attached, was not a single place to hang a wet clothing item except in the closet with our dry clothes. No hooks, no jacket racks...The only towel rack was nowhere near the shower (actually behind the wall over near the sink) so u had to either put your towel on the toilet..eww..on the floor..eww.. or get out of the shower soaked & walk over to the rack to get your towel &then go back & clean up the mess. last issue with the rooms were the floors. You couldnt walk a few steps without shoes on or your feet were black. that shouldn't happen on on 1st day there when we had barely walked on the floors with shoes on. Next issue is with the smoking policy changes. I dont smoke much. More on vacation when I've had a few drinks I'd say. But weve stayed here every year since 2015 and have always been allowed to smoke outside of our room in the parking lot or under the walkway cover. this year we were told we couldnt smoke anywhere except the "smoking towers" & there were only 2 of them. Smoking areas are not covered. It Rained all 4 days we were here on & off. several times we had to stand in the rain to smoke a cigarette (2 of the 4 of us smoke). U cannot smoke in the parking lot or anywhere near your room (not even next to the ash trays on top of the parking lot trash cans either) smoking towers were located by the old senator tree & then off in a corner by some other rooms (so... still standing outside of someone's room.. just not my own) but they seemed to be selective on when they would enforce that rule. I saw them do it with one group & then not another. you've got a few people smoking by the smoking towers & others just hanging outside their room smoking or sitting in the lounge areas outside smoking..it was actually closer for us to walk to magnolia ave to have a smoke than to walk to the smoking towers. Final complaint was breakfast. It never tasted good, or fresh. Carrying breakfast sacks, plastic containers &coffee back to my room in the rain every morning was not fun (I was the furthest room from the office). Only positive I can say here is the pool was nice and location is nice. We may return. Only because this place is...

See the attached images for actual proof of the...
