First the good: Amanda at the front desk is the gem of this particular hotel. We called several weeks in advance to get info on the location of the hotel & reserved 2 rooms. Amanda is who we spoke with, & she was helpful, professional & downright cheerful! When we arrived 5 weeks later, we were delighted to find Amanda greeting us from the desk that afternoon. Check-In went fine, & we left quickly for the ballgame.
Unfortunately, after we returned that evening, we found our rooms to be not at all worthy of a Holiday Inn Express. One room had carpet so badly worn there was a big hole in it! And, the shower pan was just as worn out as the carpet with a peeling surface that appeared unsuitable to stand on.
The other room reeked of mold & mildew & dirty carpet. Our eyes began to water, & we developed headaches & stuffy noses. I asked for something to spray in the room from a staff member, & I was given a watery spray that did nothing to relieve the odor.. Neither of us had a good night’s sleep because of the apparent reactions we were having from being inside that room.
We would’ve asked for another room, but there was a large family reunion being held at this hotel, & we had already heard another couple trying to relocate to a different room without success. So, we assumed that the hotel was full.
Got out of the moldy room at daybreak to get fresh air. When breakfast was ready, we tried to get a cup of water. We were directed to the juice dispenser, but the dispenser was not working. One of the breakfast staff tried to fix it, but to no avail. She found someone else to work on it who got it to work, When we discovered the water was warm, she said there was no ice. So, the water & juice were not chilled.
Check out went smooth, & we thanked Amanda for being the bright spot in our stay at this hotel. We advised her of the problems we had with the two rooms, & she did not seem surprised. In fact, she told us that renovations to the hotel would be happening soon. Hopefully, that is true because in its current condition, this hotel should not be permitted to be a Holiday Inn Express. Most disappointing Holiday Inn that we’ve...
Read moreThere is not anything negative I have to say about this hotel whatsoever. I've stayed here many times during home renovations, hurricanes, tropical storms (it's in a coastal town) etc. Most recently, I used this hotel for accommodations for my residents while having 10 buildings tented for the treatment of termites. The manager, Kayla, went above and beyond in assisting me through this very tedious 9 week process. I believe PK and Kayla were working hand-in-hand during a management change and their attentiveness is a rare commodity.. Kayla and PK did not miss one beat. Furthermore, Bobby at the front desk was extremely pleasant to work with and he always greeted me by my name, after only the first meeting. If I ever went here and didn't see Bobby at the front desk, I just turned around. Everyone needs a day or two off, but Bobby should be given super powers so he can work the desk 24/7! The hotel has been renovated and it is beautiful! The location is superb and the breakfast is more than adequate. Who doesn't' love the cinnamon rolls?! Upon returning from the hotel, many many MANY residents stopped in and expressed how much they loved staying at this hotel and how nice everything was. I was thanked by many for utilizing this hotel. I can't tell you how much easier that made everything: during a stressful time of being forced out of your home, to be somewhere that was so welcoming. I'm eternally grateful for such a positive experience. It's so refreshing in today's customer service lacking world to have people like Kayla, Bobby and PK always there with a smile and extreme professionalism. Whereas I'm glad to be finished with the chore that brought me to utilize this hotel, I'll be saddened to not have to communicate with the staff here every week. I will make it a point to check in on everyone here periodically, for the pure fact that these 3 individuals, working as a team, made me feel less like a number filling a room, but more like a friend! This is my top recommendation for a hotel in the area! This HIE is very modern, sleek, clean and accommodating. Kudos to such a great staff and for running this...
Read moreI have been a rewards member since I have to travel monthly for my second job and I stay at holiday Inn Expresses a lot. This was easily the worst one I have been to. I only ask for the basics while traveling. During check in, I asked for a quiet area since am a light sleeper and am easily awoken by loud noises.
After checking in the refrigerator was broken. I informed the front desk and this was fixed while I worked during the day. When I returned, the room was obviously not cleaned, nor were the towels replaced (which has happened at every other holiday Inn stay). As soon as i was about to fall asleep, the neighbors on the opposite wall from the bed had their t.v. playing so loud that it could be easily heard across the hall and through the walls- and never turned it off all night. Nobody in my room complained initially, but Management did nothing.
The next day I went to breakfast at 0745 and most breakfast items were already out of stock and the coffee machines were empty. I waited another hour before the coffee and breakfast items were replenished. The hotel was maybe at 50% capacity? Why was nobody there to restock or clean the breakfast area????
That night, my neighbors blasted the volume on their television again so loud that it can again be heard through the walls. I was tired, and REALLY TIRED of the shenanigans, that rather than confronting our neighbors and likely being taken away in handcuffs, I complained about the noise to the front desk. The neighbors eventually did barely turn the tv volume down, but did so in the early hours of the morning, as I was leaving for work.
Thanks to the lack of sleep and comfort that I PAID FOR, my business suffered.
This is honestly the worst holiday Inn I have ever visited. Working without sleep is not fun. The hotel management doesn't care, the place is not cleaned very well, the clientele is selfish and classless at best, and the breakfast food is inconsistent. This experience was so bad that im planning on canceling my IHG rewards membership because I don't see myself staying at any Holiday Inn Expresses...
