Jalawab Indian Restaurant is nothing short of a culinary jewel, a mesmerizing haven for anyone seeking an authentic taste of India. My dining experience here was nothing less than spectacular, punctuated by delightful flavors, exceptional service, and an ambiance that warms the soul.
The crown jewel of my meal was their Tikki Masala Jasmine Rice. Each morsel carried an enticing mix of spices, creating an intoxicating blend that danced on my taste buds. The rice was perfectly fluffy, a fragrant embrace that complemented the rich, velvety masala with harmony and grace. This dish was an orchestra of flavors, striking a divine balance between heat and creaminess—a true testament to culinary craftsmanship.
Complementing this masterpiece was the NAAAN!!!! pillowy clouds of perfection that were impossible to resist. Freshly baked and just the right amount of chewy, it’s amazing.
If I could just mention thaaat the NAAAAN was an ideal vessel for scooping up every last drop of the delectable masala. It had a subtle, charming crisp, coated with butter that added a delightful richness.
But wait there’s more……the food is just part of the enchanting experience at Jalawab. THE STAFF here are the unsung heroes! Superhero🦸🏽♂️🦸🏽♂️🦸🏽♂️making every guest feel genuinely special. Read moreThe food was absolutely phenomenal — no exaggeration. Truly some of the best I’ve had. But what’s dragging the whole experience down is the painfully obvious fact that most of the staff were completely out of it. I’m talking bumping into each other, glazed eyes, and just generally unsure of where they even were.
Look, I get it. It’s a Saturday night, and as someone who’s worked in kitchens, I know sobriety isn’t always the norm. But whatever you’re doing — keep it out of the dining area. My waitress was incredibly sweet and kind, but she could barely string a sentence together. She was clearly lost in her own world while chaos unfolded around her. Same goes for the rest of the staff, including the woman cleaning tables — it was plain as day that they were all on something.
It didn’t ruin the food — that was next-level — but it did wreck the atmosphere. I’m only saying this because I want you guys to succeed. You’ve got something special here, but this kind of sloppiness is exactly what will drag a standout Indian restaurant down to “just another mediocre spot.”
Presentation matters. Everyone was kind, sure — but they all looked a mess. That’s not what people want to see when they walk into a classy place. I brought my girlfriend tonight and ended up asking for our food to-go because I was honestly embarrassed to sit there.
Again, the food? Incredible. But if you don’t get it together soon, it’s only a matter of time before the quality in the kitchen starts slipping too. While I was there, I saw two guests wait over 30 minutes for takeout. I got lucky because I was persistent, but it shouldn’t come down to that.
Please, from one cook to another — keep the vibe tight, keep it professional. You’re better than this, and I’d hate to see something this...
