Jalawab Indian Restaurant is nothing short of a culinary jewel, a mesmerizing haven for anyone seeking an authentic taste of India. My dining experience here was nothing less than spectacular, punctuated by delightful flavors, exceptional service, and an ambiance that warms the soul.

The crown jewel of my meal was their Tikki Masala Jasmine Rice. Each morsel carried an enticing mix of spices, creating an intoxicating blend that danced on my taste buds. The rice was perfectly fluffy, a fragrant embrace that complemented the rich, velvety masala with harmony and grace. This dish was an orchestra of flavors, striking a divine balance between heat and creaminess—a true testament to culinary craftsmanship.

Complementing this masterpiece was the NAAAN!!!! pillowy clouds of perfection that were impossible to resist. Freshly baked and just the right amount of chewy, it’s amazing.

If I could just mention thaaat the NAAAAN was an ideal vessel for scooping up every last drop of the delectable masala. It had a subtle, charming crisp, coated with butter that added a delightful richness.

But wait there’s more……the food is just part of the enchanting experience at Jalawab. THE STAFF here are the unsung heroes! Superhero🦸🏽‍♂️🦸🏽‍♂️🦸🏽‍♂️making every guest feel genuinely special. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and an eagerness to please that was both professional and heartwarming. “Bobbi” was attentive, I was tired and offering insightful recommendations that took my meal from enjoyable to extraordinary.

The restaurant setting adds to the charm—decorated with vibrant colors and cultural motifs, it's like being transported to a cozy Indian household filled with warmth and vibrant energy. The inviting atmosphere, paired with soft Indian melodies, makes Jalawab the perfect place for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings.

I’ll be real folks, Jalawab Indian Restaurant really isn’t just about food: it's an experience, a celebration of India’s rich culinary tapestry delivered with grace and genuine heart. It has certainly earned a permanent spot in my dining repertoire, and I eagerly await my next visit to explore more of what their spectacular menu has to offer. A remarkable 5-star experience in every...

The food was absolutely phenomenal — no exaggeration. Truly some of the best I’ve had. But what’s dragging the whole experience down is the painfully obvious fact that most of the staff were completely out of it. I’m talking bumping into each other, glazed eyes, and just generally unsure of where they even were.

Look, I get it. It’s a Saturday night, and as someone who’s worked in kitchens, I know sobriety isn’t always the norm. But whatever you’re doing — keep it out of the dining area. My waitress was incredibly sweet and kind, but she could barely string a sentence together. She was clearly lost in her own world while chaos unfolded around her. Same goes for the rest of the staff, including the woman cleaning tables — it was plain as day that they were all on something.

It didn’t ruin the food — that was next-level — but it did wreck the atmosphere. I’m only saying this because I want you guys to succeed. You’ve got something special here, but this kind of sloppiness is exactly what will drag a standout Indian restaurant down to “just another mediocre spot.”

Presentation matters. Everyone was kind, sure — but they all looked a mess. That’s not what people want to see when they walk into a classy place. I brought my girlfriend tonight and ended up asking for our food to-go because I was honestly embarrassed to sit there.

Again, the food? Incredible. But if you don’t get it together soon, it’s only a matter of time before the quality in the kitchen starts slipping too. While I was there, I saw two guests wait over 30 minutes for takeout. I got lucky because I was persistent, but it shouldn’t come down to that.

Please, from one cook to another — keep the vibe tight, keep it professional. You’re better than this, and I’d hate to see something this...

Lajawab Indian Cuisine is a great new Indian spot in St. Pete. (They opened June 2024.) They are at 2705 54th Ave N where ABC Seafood used to be. It is owned by two Indian chef brothers making a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Lori and I tried it for lunch today and we will definitely be going back. The menu has some familiar favorites, but most appealing to me are the dishes that I haven't seen or eaten before. I had the Chettinad Chicken, which I have made at home several times, but this was the first time having it in a restaurant. None of the Indian restaurants in St. Pete have it. (There are some in the surrounding area outside of St. Pete that do.) It was creamy and spicy with big chunks of chicken. They also offer lamb and goat as meat protein options, and of course have several vegetarian offerings as well. There is no butter chicken, which is a quite westernized dish, so just that makes it feel more authentic to me. I like super spicy food. To me, the chettinad was spicy, but still approachable. It was right at Lori's threshold for spice. She ordered the Lajawab Curry with chicken, which had mild heat, and lots of warming spices. She said she liked it better than my dish. The naan bread was great. The basmati rice was mildly aromatic with little bits of toasted cumin seeds here and there, and it did it's job of soaking up the extra sauces. Lori liked their Raita better than the one I make at home, so now I need to reverse engineer the recipe for this one. They have the cucumber completely pureed in, where I keep diced chucks in it. The potato and pea samosas we started with were packed with flavor and just the right amount of medium spice. I highly recommend Lajawab Indian Cuisine. We will be back soon.

Not for Indians!!! Extremely low on flavor! 1. Tadka dal had zero tadka, only boiled dal (that too yellow moong, not toor dal) I returned it as soon it came coz you can tell it had no spice and i asked for spicy. They brought it back putting some green chillies! Still missing the tadka! We ate 1 spoon! 2. Shahi Paneer: alright. We asked for mild. It was mild. 3. Samosa: microwaved and alright flavor. 4. Pani puri: see picture attached , speaks for itself! No spicy water btw! My 5 Yr old ate coz she could and I couldn't due to lack of flavor. 5. Mustard Brussels sprout: first 2 bites, interesting. After that mustard takes over. Left it after eating may be quarter of it. 6. Masala chai: came out cold and very dark, missing flavor. Returned it back. 7. Chillie paneer: decent. More on sweet side than hot. You can tell it was microwaved , hot in centre. 8. Onion chillies lemon i requested as side for dal : came from fridge , no flavor. Garlic naan : 5 stars. Only thing that came out perfect. You could eat just by itself. Now, may be non-vegetarians have a different experience. Place was full of Americans so I can see why it's famous or so less on flavor and still gets 5 stars. But 4.9 star reviews deceived me. If you like flavorful food , this is not the place. Menu very mediocre as well.
