BE WARNED BEFORE HAVING YOUR WEDDING IN ST.SIMONS
My husband and I reserved Gascoigne Park for our wedding reception—a simple, respectful gathering from 1–3 p.m. with no dancing, no loud music, just close family, children, and elderly guests. The city staff were initially helpful, and we secured all the proper permits.
However, what followed was an absolute nightmare. We arrived at 7 a.m. on the day of our wedding to begin setup, only to find the park overrun with ant-piles every few feet and animal waste across the grounds. It was not only unsanitary, but completely unusable, especially with young children and elderly guests attending. When I spotted a tick, I had to make the painful but necessary decision to abandon the space entirely.
In a panic, we contacted the city dispatcher to explain the situation. We emphasized that we had followed all rules, paid our fees, and were simply looking for an emergency alternative. Along the way the Casino Atrium was suggested. We were told it should not be a problem and that we could set up there temporarily.
With less than two hours before the ceremony, we rushed to move everything—tables, decorations, catering—into the atrium space. Then, we received a call from a man associated with the facility. He was cold, unyielding, and refused to allow us to use the space, despite our situation and the dispatcher’s guidance.
Unfortunately we left to head to the chapel for the ceremony, and even though we begged for the space that’s he arrived at the casino, WITH THE POLICE, and had our entire setup dismantled.
This experience was traumatizing. On what should have been the happiest day of our lives, we were met with an inflexible, heartless system that cared more about bureaucracy than basic human decency. The level of disorganization, lack of coordination between city departments, and sheer indifference to our situation was appalling.
I would not wish this experience on anyone. If you are considering Gascoigne Park, St.Simons Casino building any city-managed venue for a major life event—think very carefully. I shed more tears that day than I ever imagined possible, and no one should have to go through...

Now, don't tell her, but I had a fantastic time! The actors were truly enjoyable and they were superb in their roles! I live hours away but would gladly travel to see them perform again. Just don't...
Read moreVery friendly service. We came here specifically looking for Golden Isles clothing, we love the logo. They had some great clearance deals and all the sales were color coded which made it easier to know what percent each item was being discounted. They showered us with gifts when we announced we were down in St Simons celebrating our anniversary. We love the...
