the PRO's: Our room was quiet enough with a well functioning A/C and comfortable beds. The area was not upscale but was logistically expedient, being right off the I-15 highway. The price was reasonable and the cleaning staff were very nice. However.... the CON's: The parking space was confining unless you had a car no larger than compact/intermediate. The breakfast was basic (how many times can you put up with scrambled eggs, pork sausages & non-fresh Danish), but as this was a basic BW, it was not a deal killer. The major issue: The room smelled of some rank chemical...Because it was infested with all sorts of different bugs. After a day, my wife killed about a dozen bugs (ants, spiders, small roaches(?) and other crawly things, collected them on a napkin (which I photographed) and showed them to the front desk person who claimed that this was the first time he was hearing of any infestations. However we subsequently noticed that a number of other rooms on the first and third floors appeared to be slated for some sort of treatment/decontamination procedure. We had our rooms changed and the second room was much better. However, my wife was still not sure that she did not see a bedbug!!! When we returned home, we cleaned/decontaminated everything (clothes, suitcases, car seats, etc) before reentering the house. Is this any way to travel?!! SUGGESTIONS:Our experience was unusual for a Best Western. In all fairness, It may be that much of the infestation was due not to BW (who usually receive at least a 4 star rating from us) but to some of the clientele. However, regardless of one's economic class, I think we should all place a PREMIUM on cleanliness. In that spirit, I would suggest that they shut down for a week or two to isolate the the source(s) of infestation & totally decontaminate before reopening. Until they do that, I cannot give them a...
Read moreWe took a chance on this hotel trying to save a little bit of money, and regretted our decision the moment we walked into the room. It smelled of stale cigarette smoke. We sprayed some air freshener, and decided to just deal with it since it was late.
My husband left to get dinner and noticed the smell of marijuana when he came back. Within a couple of hours of being there, the smell of marijuana was permeating into the room. My husband called the front desk about switching rooms, and was told the only other room available was directly above us. Afraid the smell would affect that room as well, we decided to just pack up our four children and find a different hotel. The man at the front desk assured us that we would receive a refund, we would just need to call the next day when his manager was there.
My husband called the next day, and was shocked to be treated very rudely by the manager, and have to argue and persuade him into a refund. The most he would agree to was a 50% refund because the room was “used.” Well, yeah we sat in the room for a couple of hours until we were all getting sick from the terrible smell! He acknowledged that the room next door was a smoking room, which we were not informed of when we were given our room.
Here we are several days later, and still no refund. Not even the 50% the manager was SO generous to finally agree to. My husband deals with customer service on a daily basis, and is completely floored by the way we’ve been treated in this situation. We would never consider staying here again, and would highly recommend finding your family a...
Read moreThe hotel’s location that is close to freeway Is the only plus.I had a room that was first assigned to me with a backed up toilet. The front desk rep asked me to plunge and unclog it. Firstly it is not something that I created. It was broken when we checked in. And secondly I don’t have to pay to plunge toilets and clean your hotel. We got a new room next and the nightmares went from bad tk worse. The lack of humanity is shocking when it comes to the staff. There was one staff that lied his name was “ Jackson” when I was on the best western customer service line filing a complaint. The key to my room was broken and I needed a new card to enter every 5 minutes. The staff did nothing to fix the problem and when I shared the need to have a working key until the time of my stay they mentioned that I broke the card on purpose. The staff lie and insult you. I had a sick child and was in San Diego for a last minute treatment . When I requested for them to provide a key & help my daughter sit in the cold December er storm , this peacekeeper Jackson just responded “ she don’t look sick to me. She was walking just fine” . Well , that’s a great example of this hotel’s service and hospitality. They made excuses about how this person was fresh out of school and didn’t have management experience. We live in the time where pastors molest kids, kids shoot up schools and presidents start riots … kindness is a choice and cannot be trained. So let’s not summarize the cause as education. Or training . It is a choice of kindness and humanity and...
