This place may look nice but has it was the most unpleasant experience in any motel i ever stayed in. The workers are not helpful at all. The manager is unprofesional, unfriendly and rude. They wouldnt accomodate my son and I when the cleaning crew refused to return at a more approriate time. My son was takung a bath and they said if they couldnt come in now then we would get no cleaning. But we paid for 3 terrible days. They lied to my face and refused to make our stay more comfortable. Things are always broken at this motel. We came here 3 months in a row for 2 to 3 days per stay. The first time it was nice. Second time the toilet and sink was plugged all night and had nobody to come fix it. They would not let my son and i use their restroom. No refund or discount. This time was just God awful. We were treated very badly. Im disappointed in what the general manager had to say to us. My son is 5 yrs old and he loves to come visit me from santa maria but we will be searching for a any motel next month. The general manager talked to us as if she was just released from jail and had to go back. She was just rude. I had to bite my tongue because we were in no position to leave and had one more full day here. We will definately never return to this place agin. Never! Also, its way over priced for being so ghetto. If u dont care much for help, amneties and friendly customer service. And if u are happy with no interaction or or assistance from staff then this is the place for u. Basically, pay, sleep and get out. Or pay, party, then scram. Whatever u choose. Nothing more. Nothing less. The front desk workers act as though they hate their job and customers. The general manager definately hates her job.. I was nice to them until they wouldnt come back to clean and wanted me to get out of my room while my 5 yr old son was in the bathtub. The manager did not help and was just a rude wench. Maybe bcuz i have alot of tattoos or bcuz i got angry about our treatment here. If u ask for the basics they get really annoyed. But still, the place is over priced and this was a bitter experience for us. I do not recomend it to anybody i love. I will not ever recomend motel 6 SOUTH to anybody. I will spread the word to everybody i know. Take your business elsewhere. If i had a vehicle i would get my money back and leave. I paid and have one last day here. Im gonna enjoy my day with my son then leave like a bat out of hell...

My wife and I thought the motel was nice. We loved the location, next to Cal Poly SLO. The trees and grounds were beautiful. However, we did have two incidents that made our experience less than perfect. First, we booked two non-smoking rooms. One for our two teenage sons and one for myself and wife. We stayed two nights. After the first night I walked into my sons room and it smelled of smoke. It reeked! We felt awful that our sons slept in that room. They didn't tell us about the smell because they didn't know it was supposed to be a non- smoking room. I spoke to the office about this and they argued with me about how it wasn't their fault and that the room was in non-smoking building. We rented a non-smoking room we should of gotten one. After a long discussion we were able to get $15 off our bill. The next night we moved our sons into our room so they wouldn't have to sleep in that smoke filled room. It was terrible! We can't believe the cleaning staff didn't report the smell to the manager. You could smell it as soon as you opened the door. Another incident was when we were getting ready ito sleep my wife saw a cockroach walking on the table below the television. I killed it and reassured her it was a one time deal. However, it wasn't. I found another coakroach in the bathroom! I didn't tell my wife because she would of insisted on leaving that very minute!! I like this motel. Our son started Cal Poly SLO this year and we will be visiting this area over the next five years. We would like to have this motel be our regular one for the next few years but if this kind of service continues we will have to look for another motel...

Our experience was beyond negative. I have never stayed in a facility that had fewer standard amenities (hair dryer, kleenex, etc.). When we arrived in the room, the stench was almost overwhelming - I wasn't sure if it had been a smoking room(designated as a non-smoking room) or if it was simply a case of someone having smoked in the room, mixed with unbearable body odor. We contacted the front desk, but they were unable to move us. I would have happily checked out of the hotel and moved to another facility, but given that it was Homecoming Weekend at Cal Poly - all other hotels were sold out. The rooms, while moderately clean outside of the stench, were incredibly noisy - the walls are paper thin and we could hear everything next to, and above us. When I contacted the front desk to inquire about a hair dryer, I was told that "Motel 6 is known as the hotel with few amenities... it's how we keep our cost low". The cost of the room was definitely competitive with other hotels that offer far more in terms of amenities (in room refrigerators, microwaves, coffee service, even free Wi-Fi and breakfast). The front desk representative was unapologetic for the conditions, and the Manager (a male on staff at approximately 11:00 am, Saturday, October 24th) clearly had no interest/ability in representing these deplorable conditions effectively, and didn't appear to have much interest in working with us to improve our opinion of your facility.
