Holiday Inn San Marcos-Convention Ctr Area by IHG — Hotel in San Marcos

Sorryah was an amazing bartender and when you come here definitely come see her. She is amazing and gives great customer service.

Update: Following discharge I noticed an additional charge and called the hotel to get an understanding of what the charge was since on the receipt it didn’t say. The charge was random it was $162.38. Unknown of who I spoke with since she did not make it known her name who I was speaking with but it was who was working on 5/25 around 5:30pm Texas time. She did not know at first what the charge was either so she went back and said she had to check because she was also confused why it did not say. I was on hold for a while. She comes back and stated I was charged because supposedly housekeeping said the room I was in smelled of weed is what she said and something about there being something in the toilet.

To give context when I checked in not too soon after I noticed the door didn’t lock which was room 309. Wasn’t in the room for no more than five minutes to drop our bags off. Upon bringing it to the notice of the front desk person she changed me to room 333. Also, never sad anything but room 333 also didn’t smell the greatest and there were things wrong with that room but said forget it and stayed. So when I asked about what room she said 333. I nor my sister who was sharing the room with me do not smoke and do anything of the sort. The person on the phone then changed and said no it was room 309. I asked how would she know it was from me since they had already had another family in the room and we weren’t in that room no more than 5 minutes. That room didn’t lock so anyone could have went in that room. She claimed and knows it was us because they clean and take photos of the room. She then proceeded to say “I don’t know how to say this but you and your group smelled like weed every time you came in the hotel”. I did get upset and let her know how disrespectful to say. That group is my family and I know for a fact we did not. Also, felt like that was discriminatory as we are an African American family and to say that is disgraceful and make judgmental statements like that is not okay. I proceeded to ask why didn’t no staff ask or even bring this to my attention but just charged me and she said “that is interesting no one did because we have a no smoking policy and surprised you weren’t kicked it”. As I continued to challenge that she continued to talk over me. She told me if I want to dispute the charge I would need to email the GM. As things progressed in the conversation I was still upset with her unprofessional comment about my family and as I was going to also ask for the manager information she hung up the phone. I attempted to call back and no response.

I had my mom and sister call the hotel. She proceeded to act oblivious when my sister brought up the situation and then she finally provided the manager name and let my mom know he would be back Wednesday. The sad part is the lack of professionalism and customer service. My family did not smell of marijuana and to make an accusation of that is not okay. For this hotel to have a no smoking policy and seeing an older white woman smoking a cigarette right in front but then make a statement saying my family smelled like marijuana again disrespectful. My family was there to celebrate my niece graduating and to make such remarks is incredibly disgusting. I did follow up with a complaint...

I Love this hotel the hot & pool are so nice & the beds are so comfortable & everyone I have met here since August 2023 have all been wonderful. I wish I could remember all of their names V has always been so nice & wonderful most of the times I have checked in he is usually here. On 4/21/24-Desiree was the Nightshift girl very nice and friendly and also so nice & kinda she is the one that recommended that I joined the Member rewards. She said they offer different perks like the late check out most the time the latest I ever got was noon, but I was so thankful the last time on 4/22/24 the girl said her name was Manasseh when I checked out. She was so nice and I was so thankful to get a late check out. I did not sleep well that night so I was so thankful to get a 1 PM check out. I asked her name because I want to make sure to fill out the survey & mention her. Today 5/11/24 The girls surname was Britney and it was her second week here and she was so busy because it was graduation weekend The softball team lost and it was single elimination, so she was so busy why I got here, but she was so nice and kind and helpful even though I knew she was end up adding another night and she just told me it would be better to come down because I know the last time I added it online and it wasn’t that big of a deal but they woke me up early so I was so glad She told me to have her do it and then it would make Sure, the housekeeping would know. I totally enjoy staying here. My daughter just started college at Texas State University. She just finished her first year so I plan to be here many many more times hopefully Other hotel that was the Holiday Inn express and they’re hot tub. There isn’t a real hot tub so much warmer and I like having the real Jets in it but it wasn’t working and they said they had one so I stayed there over Easter. Everybody was wonderful there and they were certain things about the room that I really liked more but this hot tub is just amazing and I love how it’s separate over here in this little corner. It makes it really relaxing And anywhere else the fact that they let you stay as late as you want as long as you don’t make noise and you aren’t disturbing anybody I just love that because a lot of times we don’t get in until late so it’s so nice to be able to come like the one night I couldn’t sleep so it was so nice to be able to come and relax and enjoy it. Appreciate everybody here. I just wanted to make sure I tried to mention. I tried everybody’s name in my phone so I can remember them to have the wonderful customer service. Thank you all so much...
