Chick-fil-A — Restaurant in San Marcos

Unfortunately, this visit was rather disappointing. For starters, the dining room seats weren't clean. The tables were okay, but the seats lacked attention. I had to wipe down our seats before we sat down. Secondly, there were two flies in my area alone. I understand the likelihood of controlling flies in Texas, but it didn't help our dining experience. Furthermore, presentation is key. The food that was presented to us, was not appealing. My wife's Grilled Chicken Sandwich's box was soaked with grease and my coke (which had a lid that wasn't completely on) had coke on top of the lid so I had to wipe it down, too. My wife rated her Grilled Chicken Sandwich and waffle fries an 8/10. My Original Chicken Sandwich and fries, on the other hand, are the reason why even thought to leave an in-depth review. My sandwich was soggy in parts (bread and breading on the patty), the pickles were abnormally warm and nearly mushy, and it was apparent that it had sat for a few minutes before it was brought out to us. Lastly, my fries weren't fresh. In fact, they were cold in comparison to the warmth of the sandwhich. They were cold, mushy and flavorless. And the cherry on top was a flat coke to wash my disappointing meal down with. Now, in Chick-fil-A's defense, it was a grossly humid day, that may be why the dining room appeared so gross. Tried to redeem a spicy sandwich with rewards and purchase the medium drink and fries. I was charged the full meal (probably why it didn’t redeem), and tried to tell the cashier multiple times before paying i should only be paying for drink and fries, not the sandwich because I’m redeeming it. She said I had to pay for it, and when I asked if it was really $7.67 for the fries and drink alone, she said yes that my sandwich will be redeemed when I pay (does not sound right at all). Then when I bring it up to another staff saying I wanted my total to be corrected, I was given an extra sandwich instead… when I can only finish one… and I was given the original instead of the spicy. Just felt like nobody knew how to correct my problem, or rather the manager didn’t feel like correcting it. I know the issue was brought up to her, I saw the staff ask what to do and said to just give me another one. It wasn’t even busy. I get mistakes happen but I caught the mistake before the charge and was basically told I was wrong, and the correction attempt was also wrong. Free food isn’t always the solution. Glad I still have the sandwich to redeem, but the other sandwich was just thrown away so basically nothing was done to correct my visit. I am unfortunately a homeless United States Army Veteran and my entire family has served with at least two of every single generation in a branch of the military since the war of independence. My oldest son and youngest surviving daughter are currently in the US Army and serving proudly to this day. I am going to admit I have to live in my car with my service animals and I have to panhandle to afford to live and feed them and myself but I’m completely hurt by the fact that every single delivery person that drives by my sign and I laugh and think that it’s absolutely funny that someone who has taken an absolute never ending oath to protect these people and give them freedom and would trade my life for them without hesitation, but they believe I deserve to be treated like garbage. I now absolutely hate this chain of restaurants and the beliefs that American active duty, retired and Veterans struggling with their lives is a reason for them to make fun of them and treat them like they don’t nor do I in any way matter but I gave up birthdays, thanksgiving’s and Christmas holidays to protect them.
