Review Upcoming Arrival:
I have stayed in hotels around the world and worked in the hotel business for years A “suite” is a parlor that connects to a bedroom. Cedar Point Corporate defines a suite as two connecting rooms at this property. See the attached video. I realize we booked last minute during peak season but I still found the $4k for five nights to be suite pricing. It is actually 2 connecting rooms and as you can see from the video the doors don’t even open all the way. This is completely unacceptable. We complained and the manager agreed this word “suite” should not be in the description. It is misleading and borderline illegal to dupe guests into thinking they are getting a suite. Instead they define a suite as two connecting rooms with a microwave and refrigerator. Hampton Inn and other limited service hotels offer these amenities in standard rooms, which is what we got. Two connecting standard rooms.
Upon complaining the manager said this was corporate’s decision. I’d like someone to contact me to discuss this further. My email address is in my bio.
I write a lot of reviews here, see my profile. Not many are one star. We were duped. Change your wording. It is false advertising.
After Night One:
The blackout drapes were sufficient but the smoke detector in each connecting room flash green all night long lighting up the room and the constant drone of the fan from the bathroom can be heard even with earplugs. The following morning we went to shower, no hot water and there was only one bath towel in the room.
After night two: there is no hot water. Luke warm at best in the shower. This is a basic amenity. The only saving grace for this property is the location to the amusement park. The service team is also responsive to requests for things like extra hangers and an ironing board. The light on the smoke detector is the worst in a hotel room I have ever seen. A good night of sleep with a flashing light every 5 seconds makes no sense.
After night three we used a knee brace to cover the smoke detector so the constant blinking didn’t disturb us.
The seagulls are everywhere here too, extremely loud and some birds looking like they are about to die. At one point we encountered a dead gull at the door to the pool. It took awhile to remove it and some parts of the bird and feathers remained at check out. GROSS!
After night four we gave up on hot water in the shower and just dealt with it. We were very tired after three days at the park and didn’t sleep well. Good rest and a hot shower are cornerstones to a hotel stay. Epic fail.
Upon check out we requested to speak with management about the issues during our stay and we received an adjustment on our bill.
I will say the service was responsive and professional and if you are staying here to go to Cedar Point it is a convenient location, however know that there is a sports facility nearby that attracts traveling baseball family that inundated the property during our visit with kids roving the hallways late at night.
Pro tip if staying at a Cedar Point property you can get discounted tickets with parking and early entry. Additionally if you purchase fast passes you can redeem them and get wrist bands at...
Read moreHorrible experience at this hotel. While visiting the park in June, my boyfriend and I had planned to stay only one night at the Hotel Breakers Resort, although as a gift from our parents for graduation, they offered to pay for another night but the Hotel Breakers was much too expensive for the second night because it would not be in the deal we had gotten before. No big deal besides how amazing it was I did not want to leave. We stayed at the Cedar Point Express Hotel. First impressions are fine, its nice seems clean. When told where our room would be and where to enter we did so. While I understand having an outdoor smoking area, put it away from the entrance, I could not breath it smelled so terribly. Once into the room it looked fine at first. We had been at the park all day in the pouring rain so we were tired, sore, and soaking wet so all I wanted to do was take a nice hot shower and relax. The shower was absolutely disgusting. It was a handicapped shower and had a "lip" halfway in between just as part of the design I suppose. That whole "lip" was caked with what looked like a concoction of things. It was brownish black and looked like it had sat there for awhile. It was disgusting. I did not want to touch it. I called the front desk and the women did not even say sorry she just said "um oh would you like us to send someone up to clean it then?" It should not be a question, someone should have been sent right away and it should have been cleaned before we were there. I tried attacthing pictures but it says the server will not accept. So if anyone wants them let me know. I am not one of the guests to have one thing wrong and ask for a completely new room especially because they were packed. Although, I have grown up in hotels traveling with my parents on business trips, and going on vacations so I know that customer service should be better than that and that no room should look like that when a guest arrives. You should know that when we stayed at the Hotel Breakers they were nice and when our room was not ready they put us in an upgraded one immediately but I was disgusted by how dirty the beach was. So when asked to do the "feedback" on my visit I mentioned this, as well as that about the beach. I answered the feedback honestly praising how amazing the hotel breakers resort was for the most part but also expressed my concerns about both bad experiences. I did not receive an email back which actually made me very upset. I emailed again complaining about the lack of care and i got an email back from a manager the next day. I expressed my issues and the concern for cleanliness. I got only, an email saying they would tell higher management. Never did we get any compensation of any kind for the disgusting hotel or poor service at all. I now do not even want to go back and stay because I do not want this experience again. So before you stay at least ask to see your room before checking in or just stay at the Hotel Breakers, while more expensive, totally worth it beautiful and...
Read moreStayed here last year for a baseball tournament and again this year but won't be going back ever again. Things seemed to have really declined since last year's stay. The rooms aren't cheap either so not what I would expect. Our air conditioning was broken which they did fix quickly the next day. Lots of minor issues for most people in our party which was 10 families. Hotel just seemed in more of a state of disrepair than last year. The walkway that we used to get to our hotel room had a large piece of cheese in the middle of the walkway that was there for three days. Door handle was hanging off the door to access our wing and the key card didn't work so there was a stone in the door holding it open. Door handle to the pool gate fell off when someone exited the pool and they chained the gate shut and had not fixed the handle by the time we left. Our toilet was broken I wouldn't flush which my husband fixed himself. Only two towels per room which makes no sense. I was told that each booking for the baseball teams is through a third-party so it only tells the hotel that it's reserved for one person. I said well it's a kid hotel does that really make any sense? And I was informed by the manager that it is not considered a kid hotel and then I could've called down if I wanted more towels. I said I shouldn't have to, I would expect there would be enough towels for the three people that were staying in our room. Room down the hall from us had some sort of issue that they were fixing so there was painters tape around the door and a hose coming out of the room and going across the hall to a different room and then out the air conditioning vent down the side of the building. However the hose was just across the middle of the hall with no warning markings or anything and it was right next to the stairs so we had to step over it every time. Not an issue for me but could be a major issue for other people. Some people in our party were charged for parking at the amusement park while other people were given parking passes from the hotel. I was told that I probably didn't book the package that comes with parking passes however I was never made aware of that or saw any option to book that and thought it came with the hotel, that's part of the reason we stayed there. I emailed Cedar point and also left a message for the manager to contact me and no one ever did. I called back six days later and finally spoke with the manager who said oh yes I think I saw that note. One positive was early admission to the park. But we won't be staying here again for the cost. Also some people in our party were able to check in early however our room wasn't ready when we tried to check in at 5:15pm. Pool was good...
