First, this was a 1 or 2 star hotel, so can I really rate it that low? What else could I have expected? I had a last minute trip to Santa Clara for work, and all the hotels were sold out. So without any previous experience, I had to pick the BEST of the not so good hotels. I did my best to read reviews, but the reviews were not all that great. I settled on this hotel.
Again, it wasn't bad for being a 2 star hotel, but certainly not my first choice in hotels, but I had little choice.
The staff was very friendly and got me checked in right away. I was on the ground floor, and the people above me sounded very loud, almost on purpose. Perhaps that is more the construction of the hotel. Thankfully this only happened one time, but I was able to hear the people above me using the restroom and flushing. Again, only heard it one time, though I stayed there 2 nights. The TV was pretty small, LCD, but about 27". The remote was a custom "easily" cleaned remote, but it did not turn the TV on or off. It changed the volume and channels though. I'm not a big TV fan, but I didn't have much to do.
The Internet was wireless and used Comcast Business Internet. The first night I was getting about 60Mbps down and about 10Mbps up. Everything from my home media server (using Plex) played just fine the first night, but the next night, with similar speeds, everything was choppy. Was this Comcast trying to limit me?
The hotel offered free breakfast, but I did not partake. It looked like a continental breakfast though, or less than that. Not sure of the true definition of a continental breakfast, to make that assumption though.
For some reason I was cold in my room. The AC unit also had a heater on it, and worked VERY well. It was not thermostat based, so when the room got warm I had to get up and turn it off.
I read very bad reviews about the types of people randomly knocking on your door, but luckily nobody knocked on my door the entire I was there.
The shower mixing valve was weird to operate and almost seemed broken, but the water got hot instantly and stayed hot. The soap was nice, and the shampoo and conditioners were the kind that hang on the wall and are refilled. Bothers me a little that they are not sealed, but what can you do?
Room was very clean, bed was somewhat...
Read moreWe got this hotel because of the location, I’ll give you that but other than that will not recommend for anything else. Reviews do help for others to plan a stay, that wasn’t our situation it was literally a quick trip we had booked for two nights but last minute our plans changed and we needed to head back to LA. We understand we booked for two days no refund was provided even though we had a bad night we had to call at 4 AM and staff members did not take care of the problem next-door when asked (I had come from a 6 hour drive earlier that day or to be more specific 7 hours prior) As a manager of a business I understand when a client is not satisfied with such services we try to accommodate or find a way to resolve the issue until the client is satisfied or at least call the client to apologize and see what we can do, not dismiss. The next day the staff (a lady) heard our concerns did offer us to change room but explained that our trip got cut short so needed to be charged for 1 night and let her know about the situation that happened early that morning, the policy this place has not very common (we were later told about their policy). Of course if you extend your stay you will be happy to extend it but if there needs to be a last minute modification you get charge full for the days reserved.
Customer service- 2 for the lady on Saturday that tried her best but needs more attention to customer care and 0 for poor management (Don’t wait for customers to place an honest review and try to assess the problem later you. Do it that same day even if you are off delegate to a person is qualified or train your staff to be more problem solving not only give 1 solution)
Cleanliness- 3 for the staff that does their best to clean each room but it does smell like cigarettes even though we got assigned to a room that says...
Read moreTo begin, this hotel looked haunted when my family and i first arrived. Windows were boarded off and everything. It looked very dirty and the trash bins near the rooms were overfilling and falling onto the floor like it had never been taken out before. When we checked in, the guy told us our key wasnt ready yet and that we had to pick it up later but he would let us into our room. After we were "escorted" to our room, inside there were bloodlike stains on the floor and walls and there were peanut crumbs all over the floor so im guessing they also didnt vacuum. Around 5 hours later, i tried to go to the front office to get our key but the guy said it still wasnt ready. Once again, he walked us to our room and used his own key to let us in. We didnt have access to our own room. On top of that, he instructed me and my family that we are not to leave our room otherwise we would be locked out. Now what finalized our thoughts towards never returning was that at 8:00AM, me and my family were awoken by sounds of someone unlocking our door. It was a housekeeper LITERALLY entering our room without our permission. We had the deadbolt lock on but she had the master key and was able to unlock it. She didnt knock at all. She claimed that someone from our room called the front desk requesting for cleaning. This was impossible because we were sleeping and the phone was unplugged due to us using the outlet to charge our phones since outlets were very limited in this room. She kept insisting so we shut the door on her. This was very creepy and it freaked us out. We werent able to go back to sleep so we decided to check out early. We wont be returning to this...
