PLEASE READ TILL THE END ! We had booked the banquet hall for a lunch welcome party we had there for sept. 4th. We paid a deposit in July. I asked Balkar to provide photos of the banquet hall as we were not local and had booked the venue by looking online. Balkar told me to contact Norma for photos. I requested photos and was send photos after several requests. It took them a month to send me photos. I told Robert at Santa Clara and he said OH NO you are not getting the upstairs Banquet hall. Norma did a three way call and She said you are getting the same hall. We kept on calling Balkar and then Robert. Both said everything will be fine. Menu was set, Robert never did any correspondence, Norma from Fremont Location wrote the whole menu, price, people and special instructions. Come 1st sept. We went to Santa clara location to confirm everything. Robert said oh you have dinner party. We said no. Since july I have been calling and confirming lunch party, we had the text and detail information from Norma and that was also forwarded to Robert. Robert said he did not know about the menu, which is a lie as I sent the whole menu to him on his phone twice and to confirm which he never did. . I had repeated the menu two months ago still I gave him the paper with the menu Norma had given us. We specifically told him to write it down on wednesday sept. 1st again. Since we were short on time we told him to take a photo of the details and add it in his book. We had also asked him to add an extra table . Come 4th sept. We go there at 11:30 half hour early to make sure all was ok. There was no extra table with settings. The party was at noon. People started coming, nothing on the food counter. They brought one by one appetizers around 12:50, already late. They never replenish Avacodo Jhalmuri. There was no main dishes till 1:46pm. The event had to be done by 3:00pm. Even then the chenna kesari malai was not there. They would bring one dish at a time. There was supposed to be Jaipuri Bhindi, He put masala bhindi. Ridiculous. We had paid extra for papad and Buttermilk. The buttermilk had plastic glasses to take buttermilk. There was never papad given. Vegan roti and rice was not ready. Infact nothing was ready. Robert is the worst person to deal with. We could not even ask a question with out him being rude. Balkar keeps on telling OK Ok or just plain busy to even talk properly over the phone. We are very upset at the way the whole thing was handled. I asked Robert if there was aftermint. He said no. Never provided that either. We paid 1392:63$ for 30 people. $46:52pp. IF YOU ARE EVER PLANNING TO HOST A PARTY HERE, DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND PICK ANY OTHER RESTAURANT THAN SAKOON. You will get much better service and food for half the price. We had already sent out invites for this location so we were upto their mercy. Robert has no manners, no smile, rude and useless. We don't understand how he has a job. Balkar, always plays ingnorant or busy. Only decent person was Norma to deal with but at the end that also did not help. I hope they refund the amout they took from me for papad and jaipuri bhindi as we did not realize that papad was not there before paying. It is about ethics and trust. These...
Read moreI don't like to write negative reviews; but his place warrants it. Went on a Saturday around 2:20pm and place closes at 3pm. First of all, the goat had a lot of tough, chewy meat.
The reason why I gave one star is because at 3pm or shortly before, they were clearing all the food away. There was a family, a couple and myself still eating.
From my experience at other buffet restaurants, they keep the food out for the customers still eating even after closing time. At some other buffet restaurants, we would be told they will soon be closing and to get what food we want to eat before they start clearing.
Not at this El Camino Sakoon restaurant. I believe it was around 3pm when I went to get a serving of the rice pudding (Kheer). All the entrees were gone except for the Kheer and two other desserts in large bowls next to it. I asked the guy who I believe was managing the restaurant for a ladle. He had impatient rude look on his face and told me to use the teaspoon.
The father of the family still eating came next to me to get dessert. He was also told to use the teaspoon. I told the father that restaurants normally keep the food out until the last customer. He replied that Sakoon in Mt. View is more "chilled". In other words, Mt. View Sakoon would have kept the food out and not be so impatient to customers like El Camino Sakoon.
I felt the manager's mannerism was very rude and didn't bother to give me and the father a ladle for the dessert. It was easy enough to do so. Extremely rude attitude!!
After I ate my Kheer and walked to my car, it was 3:09pm. Therefore, I truly believe the manager had his employees start clearing out the food even shortly before 3pm.
If and when I crave for Indian buffet food, I will most likely go to the one in Mt. View. Eating at restaurants should be a...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience there. First, service was awful; we had to wait for the menu much longer than usual. While waiting, it was getting a bit cold in the outdoor area so we asked one of the staff to light the heater that was next to us. He very reluctantly said he had to change the tank and went to replace that. After about 20 minutes we saw him passing by and we asked about the heater again and then he went to get the tank, with a face that showed he was not pleased. He finally came back with a tank and took care of the heater. As for the food, it took them about 40 minutes to bring our food (and the place was not crowded). While the waiter was putting the food on our table, he noticed one of the main entries was incorrect, so he said he would not charge that, we could keep that and he would place an order for the correct one. So we started eating our meal and of course it was taking a long time without any "corrected" meal to show up so we told him that we don't want that meal any more since it has been too long so he said in that case, he is going to charge us for the original food that he had brought but not the one that he had asked the kitchen to prepare! Obviously we were very unhappy with how he handled their own mistake. We asked for the check and when he brought our check, we noticed he had added tips automatically (for a party of 2). So I crossed the tip and signed for the original amount, but later when I received my credit card bill, I was charged for the tip as well (which means I have to call the CC company to correct that). Overall, service was extremely bad and food was nothing beyond average. I had been to that place a few times in the past and it was usually good but I am not going to go...
