First I would like to say I grew up on Hispanic foods and I can attest that I make a pretty great variety of tacos and salsas. Ok, if you know Mexican food American style, then this is not even good in that standard. Doesn't even come close to authentic Mexican food. First, do not order a super burrito because you will scream, where's the BEEF, or MEAT. There was little to no meat on both super burritos ordered. And 1 had little to no sour cream and the other had none. It's says it comes with cilantro and it does, a tiny tiny tiny sprinkle. Oh but you get lots of rice and beans! So I can't comment on the carnitas since there wasn't enough to taste. The tacos were the same. We ordered 3 different tacos to check out the meats and chicken. But how could we do that with little to no meat on them. Mostly beans and a nice amount of lettuce and like the meat, Where is the CHEESE??????? So, food wise from the menu is not good if your taste buds are a hankering for some tasty Hispanic food. I will say the chips were great, but the salsa was lacking. You might as well go to Taco Bell, yuck. So for all of you who put recent reviews saying this is a great taqueria you need to check your taste buds and stop paying the price for mediocre food and go where the price is the same and the food is better. Like the food trucks in the area. P.S. the chairs are horrible for all ages, my kids even...
Read moreHacienda is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. I have been to 14 countries and lived in different towns in different states. There is no food in the world that compares. I have been going to hacienda religiously since I was ten years old. I had my 16th birthday party at hacienda. I hired hacienda to come cook for my 15th birthday party. My contact in my friends phone is “haciendas strongest warrior”. I fly home from New York multiple times a year to get hacienda. Every single time I have brought a friend to Santa Cruz the first thing I show them is hacienda and I make them eat it with me every day for the entirety of their trip. When my parents ask where I want to go out to breakfast, lunch, or dinner, my answer has always been and will always be hacienda. If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be a cheese quesadilla with avocado from hacienda. They have the best salsa I’ve had in my life, I used to buy bottles from them and put it on everything. I used to be excited for Christmas but now I am not because hacienda is closed. The workers are the sweetest people and the service is incredible. I want to drop out of school and work at hacienda full time so I can eat their food every day. I have never written a review for anything, but I must...
Read moreI'm sitting here, years later and 1000 miles away, still wishing I could find a restaurant like this anywhere across the thousands of miles I have traveled this country. De La Hacienda is, in my opinion, one of the best taquerias I have ever been to in the United States. Period. I still think about how good a super chile verde quesadilla is. I would recommend this place to all my friends for the 7 years I lived in Santa Cruz, and I do now 5 years since I left. Not only that, it's family run and everyone is given a holiday each Christmas to go back and see family. Is that not something amazing that should be supported? Hope to come back again. I forget who I would often see at the register's name, I want to say Kevin or David, but I hope you're doing well still. You guys...
