Stayed here during an overnight business trip to Santa Monica. It's a lovely place to stay if you set the bar low. How low you ask? Read on...||||It's Santa Monica in August. Hot but not desert hot. The night air was warm as I entered my room. No air conditioner to be found, but a wall heater that would not turn off. I stopped the heat by covering the vent with my bath towels. This helped cool the room but also ensured that I'd have a warm bath towel to dry off with following an AM shower. A true McGiver moment. ||||Still, the heat in the room remained. The plastic electric fan didn't do much, until, that is, I placed it in the mini-fridge. ||||Meanwhile, the bathroom was crawling with ants. I traced the ants to their source of room entry (a small hole in the floor) and covered the portal with shampoo provided by the hotel management. Ant problem solved. ||||The shower was...different. Separate controls for hot and cold, but the hot water pressure was around 10% of the cold water pressure. ||||Bed was okay. Room was equipped with a television that I did not watch. Free wi-fi. ||||This sorta fun may be for you. Personally, I do not...
Read moreWhen looking for hotels/motels near Santa Monica it got really overwhelming with the price of most if the places near by especially with us staying for around 4 nights. I found this place and loved the way it looked as well as the price. When we arrived it was very cute! The outside was covered in flowers and they had seats and tables outside each room so we could all eat together easily as well as just hanging out outside. The staff was very friendly and they did really well at cleaning even after we went to the beach(so much sand!). The rooms were a bit dated and the TV was not super large but it was perfect for what we needed it for. The only downsides we had was that there was no air conditioning and no microwave. There is a lot of food places nearby and a gas station right next store. We all had an amazing time staying here and we will definitely try to book here during...
Read moreStarted out looking for something cheap, but not ghetto and landed at this little jewel right off Santa Monica Blvd. and a mile from some friends I was visiting. Accommodated my very late check-in (previously arranged of course) and provided me with a very clean, quiet and cool trip back into time... Circa 1972, Pismo Beach Motor Court by the pier, right down to the big tile squares on the floor (just sweep the sand out right)., plaster walls and the tiny little "cement shower stall", only so much cooler! The colors are lovely, the plaster is textured with intention, fixtures are updated, etc. I will absolutely come and stay "on purpose" so I can dream about the last summer I spent in Pismo, next to the pier, with a bunch of cousins and friends. Maybe I'll come up with some new memories that include the Palm Motel! And Jacob, one of the managers is AWESOME! ...
