Best gym I've ever belonged to, best trainers I've ever had. I've been a member of Sweat 60 for ~4 years now. I've been training with them through a bunch of life events that could have devastated me in terms of my health & fitness: from recovering from cancer, to a ruptured achilles tendon, to some early arthritis arising from my years in the military. And I'm still in the best shape of my life thanks to Courtney, Kevin, Xavier, Matt, Jordan, Ja'maal and team. I've probably trained with nearly everyone on the team at one point or another, and they're all wonderful because Sweat 60 is a kickass institution at this point. I'm pushing 40 and I have better strength, better agility, better balance, and better conditioning than I had in my 20s. I was never over the 1,000-lb club (Bench + Squat + Deadlift) in the military but I topped 1,100 with the Sweat team a few weeks ago and I'm feeling awesome.

I came to Sweat 60 with a bad back and a broken heart. Kevin and Courtney took my ruined body and tattered soul and nourished me back to health- I took these broken wings and learned to fly again! Now I can deadlift a Volkswagen and reign undefeated at barstool arm wrestling. I'm pretty athletic (great smile, too, I've been told) but I had never learned the fundamentals of olympic lifting, or pushed myself in the way that the Sweat 60 workouts do. The trainers take the time to make sure your form is perfect and that you're lifting properly. The strength days are my favorite. I love/hate the HIIT/running days, which creep up on you... I'm like, "This is fine, this is fine," then suddenly I want to barf my evil black soul out and question my very existence. Maximum results! Love this place.

Coach Jamal led the 7 a.m. class. He demonstrated the movements and broke down the workout for us. Sweat 60 is like CrossFit- working out in a parking lot/ garage with barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, and sweaty people moving from station to station to get their workout done. The workout was doable, but I wish they would play more music to motivate people. They should add another trainer; there were about 20 people with only one coach. When lifting weights, it’s crucial to make sure you are using the proper form. Adding another coach will allow people to have more 1:1 attention when needed. Not a great place for beginners, in my opinion. Free but limited parking when you enter the alley.

Accountability, flexibility, and community are the three main components I sought when looking for a gym and I found that (and more) at Sweat 60. I had been thinking about joining a gym and personal training for a while but was put off by previous gym experiences with disengaged staff and amateur trainers. So, when I discovered Sweat 60, I was stoked! Not only was it a block away from home (before the move), the staff is very warm, welcoming, kind, funny, knowledgeable, talented, and SUPER FIT. Moreover, the workouts are fun, diverse, appropriately intense, and incredibly effective.

From the initial consultation request I sent via the website, to which Kevin (owner) replied so promptly that I thought it was a bot response, I have been consistently pleased and impressed by this place and, more importantly, the people. Additionally, I needed flexibility in the scheduling of my workouts and Sweat 60 has been fantastic about that with absolutely no hassle. For me, this has greatly increased the odds of me sticking with working out on a regular basis.

I've been training with Xavier for 4 months now and though he's always smiling (even at 5am), he does a stellar job at kicking my a$$ with thoughtfully planned and diverse workouts. Xavier's positive energy and high level of engagement keeps me accountable and motivated; and it feels like I'm training with a friend even when he makes me do burpees. :)

To date, I've taken a couple of group classes and they're awesome too! There was a decent learning curve for me in executing the various exercises, but I was so pleasantly surprised when several of the other members proactively took time to teach me the moves. This is where the "community" element really shines and I'm looking forward to integrating more group classes into my routine.

The friendly, engaged, down to earth staff and members is what has made Sweat 60 special to me. There is a unique balance of business and pleasure in every session, and I am definitely reaping the physical, emotional, and mental benefits from them both at and away...

I was first exposed to Sweat 60 through Classpass after moving to LA and not knowing where to go for a workout. Within just a few weeks of checking out all the local spots, it became obvious that Sweat 60 was the place to be and had to sign up directly.

Not only are these classes much smaller (10-20 ppl max) with a dedicated trainer, but you also have at least 2 (if not all 4) of the other trainers floating around making sure you work out correctly. No other gym gets even close to that much personal attention in a group setting. All the trainers are super friendly and make you feel like family from the very beginning. Each trainer introduces themselves, gets to know your goals, understands any previous injuries, and REMEMBERS you on all your subsequent workouts - that level of commitment from a trainer is unmatched.

For me, I came into Sweat 60 not realizing I had pretty awful form with some core moves like squats, deadlifts, etc. which ended up having a large effect on my ability to lift heavy. Within 3 months of working out with this team, I've been able to add over 100 pounds to my deadlift and squat without any sort of injury. Not only do they make sure you're safe and getting stronger, the trainers motivate you to get outside your comfort zone and push both the physical and mental boundaries we put on ourselves. They also understand the nuances of heavy lifting and have the equipment to help with recovery after a badass workout.

If you're looking for a gym that will get you excited to workout and see results, go to Sweat 60. The choice will be obvious once...

I can't speak highly enough of Courtney, Kevin, and the Sweat 60 team. I have been doing 1-on-1 sessions with Courtney for almost two years now, and those sessions have infinitely improved my fitness, mood, and overall health. In addition to being incredibly knowledgeable, Courtney is engaging, thoughtful, and fun--a training session with her feels like hanging with a good friend for an hour...but with gains. Most of all, though, Courtney and Kevin are genuinely invested in the success of their clients. They are always responsive, understanding, and willing to go above and beyond to make sure their clients are achieving their goals and then some. If you are looking for a personal trainer, I wholeheartedly recommend finding him or her at Sweat 60--you won't be disappointed!

Edit: Popping back in to say that, all these years later (and even after a location change), I'm still going to Sweat 60 consistently and I still can't recommend it strongly enough. In addition to training regularly with Courtney, I have started doing sessions with Jordan as well. Courtney and Jordan are both extremely dedicated and go above and beyond to accommodate schedules and to make sure they are putting together targeted training plans that work for the varied and specific needs of each client. During sessions, they are both totally present and invested in making sure I get the most of the time. Over the last few months I've also had a few sessions with Kevin and Matt, and all of the above superlatives apply to...
