I like the largeness of this park, but the size also means there's a lot of dogs and it's harder for owners to control their dogs from a long distance. My 8-month-old pup was repeatedly attacked and hounded by a gang of three dogs last week, and it took me a long time to get him leashed and out of there because the fight kept moving so fast. This was the first time I've been back to Joslyn since my previous dog was attacked there 15 years ago. That last time I had to lift my dog over the fence to get him away from the boxers who were tearing at him while their owner did nothing. This time at least the owners were trying to call off their dogs (but to little effect). Pacific Street Park is smaller, but we rarely encounter aggressive dogs there. Read moreGreat dog park nestled in a busy city. The little dog section is half hard packed sand and half dirt/wood chips. It’s flat, whereas pretty much the entire big dog area is a slope. The big dog area is almost all dirt/wood chips except for the top of the hill is hard packed sand where people can sit on benches. There is plenty of seating in both sections and water fountains and bowls for the dogs. Also lots of parking spaces along the side, but they can fill up during busier times.
