My pregnant wife, 4 year old daughter, 18 month old son and myself had the misfortune of having to seek temporary residence after a mold problem in the attic of our rental home was discovered. Upon check in a lady named Sherese was very receptive to our situation. She went above and beyond what was required to help us out with room accomidations. After the first two nights we requested a new room because the first room 335 (2 bedroom suite) had a very slow shower drain and an unworking garbage disposal. The manager was a lady named Ashley who was making the room change at the desk. Upon asking how we booked, Ashley became very annoyed that Sherese didn't have "the authority" to do what she did upon check in. My wife and I expressed how grateful we were and hoped she didn't get into trouble for helping someone out. Ashley then stated that our previous room (335) was already booked for the labor day weekend. At this point Ashley had been made aware of our housing situation and that we were extending our a few days at a time because of the possibility that the issue would be fixed ;that there were multiple companies on multiple days going to check out the house and to formulate a game plan. She moved us to room (134 2 bedroom suite) to avoid having the room taken for the weekend (freezer for refrigerator was broken). Saturday morning 9/1 I called from work to extend until Wednesday 9/5 because an air quality technician would be visiting our house on Tuesday 9/4. We were told that our room had been booked for the weekend. Upon explaining that we had moved rooms to avoid this issue we were cited that there is no other option. Staybridge Savannah airport called the police department on my wife to remove her and our children from the room on 9/1 1 hour before I got off from work. I had told the front desk employee over the phone earlier that it was next to impossible for me to leave work as it takes hours to leave. (I work on a federally regulated TWIC site). Also that my pregnant wife who is having blood pressure problems was not in the position to pack and move all of our items with 2 small children by herself. Staybridge suggested that we go to their sister hotel close by. I asked if an incoming reservation could be reaccomodated as our money is just as good as a potential no show online reservation. Staybridge had the police escort my wife and children out of the hotel we were residing in out of necessity for someone on vacation. No humanity at all. Before anyone says it, both of our children are asleep at 7 pm. I get there from work at 9 pm and shower and sleep. No loud TV, no late night loud stomping kids. Complete lack of empathy, blind loyalty to a company that would replace them in a day. All of this for a $22x a night room. Google reservation...
Read moreThis was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. We were initially put in a room where the hallway smelled strongly of food. The smell permeated into our room. There was a large gap between the door and the frame. None of our doors would lock because they were improperly hung. Good thing there was an electronic lock on the main door. The bathroom toilet had a ROUND toilet seat for an OBLONG toilet bowl. The tile was smashed in front of the refrigerator and felt spongy when walked over. An hour after arriving, we discovered the refrigerator was leaking. Called the front desk and the moved us to the same room one floor up. The door could not be bolted because the bolt would not fit when turned. The faucet pull for the shower did not send all the water to the shower head so water was pouring out of the faucet and the shower head. The faucet was very loose, and the tile, and if you pulled on the shower knob it would wiggle and it was not caulked around. The towels were very stained. When I first climbed into my bed my feet discovered a USED bandaid between the fitted sheet and the flat sheet. My husband and I are choosing to believe it went through the wash with the sheets. As we were packing up to go one of my children found a black mesh hair stocking, and a key card. Housekeeping is seriously lacking. So why didnt we leave? It was clear that even if we changed rooms again the situation would not get better. The cancellation fee and number of hotels in the area fully booked basically decided for us. We were stuck. There were no bugs in the rooms. The rate of the suite was more than triple its value. 2 rooms with 2 DOUBLE beds each, kitchenette in which the stove couldnt even boil water, and living area. Two of the three tv remotes didnt even work as well as half the lights, but that's small beans in comparison to our other issues. We were lucky enough to have working AC since it was 90° outside, but others were not so lucky. DO...
Read moreI made a reservation for a 1 bedroom suite with a king bed a month before my travel date. On the day of my arrival I got a phone call from the hotel telling me they didn't have a king room for me. I told them I had a confirmed reservation and they said they had given my room to another party and that I could either take a queen room, or go find another hotel. What’s the purpose of making a reservation if the hotel isn’t going to honor it? When I got to the hotel and expressed my dissatisfaction for not getting the room I had requested, the check in clerk simply said “I’m sorry” about a half dozen times. They were hollow words with no sincerity or compassion for my situation.
When I checked out two days later I asked to see the hotel manager and was told she was out for several days. I explained to the check out clerk the poor treatment I received at check in and that I felt the hotel was wrong in giving away my reserved room. The desk clerk showed no compassion or sympathy for my situation and proceeded to explain why the hotel was right and by implication, why I was wrong. Never did the hotel accept any responsibility for causing my room cancellation, nor did they offer any sort of compensation, either verbal or monetary. I finally told the check out clerk I felt I should not be charged for the first night because they had messed up my reservation. She said she was going to adjust my bill, but when I looked at it, she had given me a lousy $30 credit. That is an insult! It was obvious the both the check in clerk and the check out clerk had no interest in my complaints and just wanted me to shut up and leave. Well, I left and I can guarantee you I will never again stay at the Staybridge Suites...
