The Hampton Inn in Scottsbluff is a decent hotel for a short stay. It’s not the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and it’s not the worst either. The location is convenient, the staff was friendly, and the basics were all there—but the experience is dragged down by some strange design decisions and structural problems that Hilton needs to address.
Parking One of the first things I noticed was the lack of Hilton Honors Priority Parking. There were no spaces at all for Diamond-tier members, which is unusual for a Hilton-branded property. The only designated parking spot on site was for Purple Heart recipients, which is absolutely fine and respectful—but strangely, it wasn’t even placed up front near the entrance. It was located in the middle of the parking lot, far from the building, which doesn’t make much sense for accessibility or convenience.
Room Condition The room was clean, and the surfaces and furniture were in good shape. One surprising detail: the room had seven coffee cups stocked with the coffee station—way more than expected for a standard stay, which was appreciated. The power outlet setup was excellent, with around sixteen total outlets and six USB ports—plenty for charging multiple devices or working from the room.
However, the main issue was structural. The floor was extremely loud, and simply walking across the room caused it to creak and physically shake. It was noticeable with every step and made the whole space feel unstable. Combined with very squeaky bed frames, the room just didn’t feel sturdy or quiet at all.
The window also had issues. It was double-paned, but the seal inside was broken, causing condensation buildup and even allowing a bug to get trapped between the panes. The window could not be opened, which meant there was no way to get fresh air into the room.
Wi-Fi The internet connection was okay. I ran a video call with people in the UK, and it held up fine. Speed was about 10 Mbps download and upload, which is good enough for calls or light streaming.
Breakfast Breakfast was what you’d expect from a Hampton Inn—no table service, no made-to-order options, and a limited spread. The waffles were the highlight, but the rest of the items felt a bit boring. Nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either.
Elevators and Age of the Building The elevators seemed to be from the 1980s, and the lighting and wallpaper inside looked outdated. They worked, but they felt very old and didn’t match the newer elements inside the guest room.
Final Thoughts The Hampton Inn in Scottsbluff does the job, but it’s rough around the edges. Clean room, solid Wi-Fi, lots of power outlets—but the shaky flooring, squeaky beds, sealed windows, and lack of Diamond member parking drop it down a level. If those things were fixed, it could be a solid 4-star stay.
As it stands, this location earns a 3 out of 5—acceptable, but overdue for upgrades...
Read moreThe staff was extremely friendly. The rooms were very nice and clean. Breakfast was good as well. Word of caution, you better reserve in advance. As I was checking in, they had to turn away quite a few guest. You have been warned. I originally gave this a 5 star. However, there is one thing that is an issue. There is a loud humming that seems to reside around room 301.. not sure what it is. It is not the AC running, that is pretty quiet. But at 330 in the morning it is quite annoying as I can't get back to sleep. Just an fyi. Edit... I originally gave them a 4 star, but after the last visit, it is only fair to reduce by a star. Reason... customer service.. Older lady in the mornings, seems to have issues about understanding customer service, or.. really does not care... I explained my 2 problems as I was checking out. The showerhead, when you turn it on out side of the shower to check the temperature, will spray water on you outside the shower, just needs to be cleaned or replaced. As I left for the day, I stopped and asked her to send someone up. She said she would but since the issue was never fixed, one must believe it was never addressed. When I brought this up to her, she said " well, I told them". I am sorry, would've been nice, we will fix it for you before you return, as I do visit the area often, would've been acceptable. I explained that I requested the top floor due to heavy footed people that can get above you and stomp around. She proceeded to tell me that I need to change my preferences on my travel log. I explained to her twice that I requested a top floor. But she again stated the same, she was the one that checked me in.. I was looking for.. something other than what she explained was my fault... an easy apology, we will make sure we help you better... anything.. In a last attempt to move her in the right direction, I simply stated, that I will try one more time, if I get the same service, i will have to explain to my company that Hampton inn may not be the best option for our team of 900 people that use this company. I will have to stay at the Fairfield inn down the road... her response.. "well, go ahead if you want to". Seriously!! Someone needs to teach her how to take care of customers!! Sheesh! The night auditor or desk clerk is sweet as can be, shorter, brownish hair, very nice and willing to help.. So, just beware... and be prepared.. thanks...
Read moreWe stayed Monday-Wednesday in May. The room itself seemed a bit small for a Hampton Inn. The beds are very comfortable, every room has a small refrigerator, but no freezer compartment. They also have a microwave. I like that they have large bottles of hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body gel on the wall. You don't have to worry about running out like you do with the tiny bottles some hotels give you. The water pressure is good, but the safety bar is placed right in the middle where you stand for the shower and it gets in the way. Be careful not to bang your arm on it. The bathroom is showing it's age with chips in the wood vanity, cracks in the wall, etc. the tile in the bathroom crackles when you walk on it making me worry it might snap in half. There is a closet with ironing board in it. There were plenty of drawers for storage. The linen and bedding were very good quality and there was plenty of good lighting. The window shades were excellent. Blocking out all sunlight or use just the filter shade if you want some privacy and still a little light. The air conditioner worked well. We didn't swim or use the hot tub, but I felt the water in the pool and it seemed the perfect temperature for swimming. However, the whole first floor smelled like a pool. The coffee was some of the best we have ever tasted and it's available all day in the breakfast seating area, but you will have to warm it up in the microwave if you get some after 10:30 am. The breakfast was very good. We had eggs, country potatoes, sausages one day and the next day they also offered french toast. There was also Oatmeal, fruit, bagels, yogurt, etc. We were very happy with breakfast and the sunny dining area where we ate. The staff were nice and if you bring dogs, there is plenty of grass around the hotel, as well as a small fenced dog area. The parking is good and the area seems very safe. There was only one elevator working and there was a short wait for it everytime. If it were very crowded I can imagine it would be a long wait with only one functioning elevator. I felt it was a little overpriced at $159 for a weeknight, but that was what the other comparable hotels were charging as well. Overall, we would recommend this hotel and...
