I really dislike Scottsbluff; apparently their Town Board has forbidden curb cuts off of the main roads, so you have to figure out how to drive around and get to everything. We bypassed three restaurants because we had already passed the side roads that had their only access! Perkins sits on a corner and shares a parking lot with a motel, so they have double access where other places do not. PS to merchants - if you are forced to have multiple stores off of your shared and abbreviated driveways, at least repaint the arrows for traffic direction. Rant over; we arrived at 11 AM and were immediately seated, offered beverage service, and given huge menus with breakfast, lunch and dinner items (they serve everything all day long). They have the Coke "beverage station" that produces almost every flavored mix imaginable of their products; we chose raspberry sweet tea and were not terribly disappointed, even though this Southerner can tell a powdered drink mix when she's given one! The menu was not well separated, but we finally found lunch items in its voluminous folds, and ordered. The food is - adequate; nothing special, but the club and the burger were delightfully non-greasy, heaped with crunchy lettuce and perfect tomatoes, everything crisp and fresh. The onion rings were of that lightly battered, not cheap bread-crumbed, genre, and were HOT and crunchy as well, not soggy with grease. The fries were soft and light. The service was prompt and friendly; we received drink refills quickly even though it was a busy lunch hour, and the food was a diabetic nutritionist's dream - light, full of vegetables, and non greasy. It's a Perkins, after all - nothing adventurous to write home about; but a comfortable, cold (in July!) and friendly place to sit down and have a meal. We should have bought one of their incredibly mounded lemon merengue pies; Perkins' bakery is the best part, but we had 300 more miles to go and it would have suffered, even in the cooler. Recommended for a light, comforting lunch on the go; not haute cuisine but not...
Read moreI took my partner, sister and grown daughter to breakfast at this location on May 31, 2021. It was not a good experience. The table at which we were seated was not clean. Service was slow to non existent. Of the four orders three were incorrect. Three of us had ordered the Granny Omelet with different potato and bread choices. One of the orders had been requested to have the ham deleted, but all three plates contained ham. The waitress was in no mood to correct the meals, so we did it ourselves. After the first bite we were certain that the effort was futile, the food was barely edible. Whatever the cheese like substance used as a topping was revolting. All of the condiment containers were empty so there was no catsup or tabasco sauce to mask the bad flavor. We were unable to get the server to bring condiment replacements or even fill our water glasses. The only redeeming experience's were 1) the order of blueberry muffins I had placed were ready at the cash register and 2) the clerk manning this station was fast. The muffins were good as usual and served as breakfast , since the meals we ordered were not fit to consume. I have eaten at this and many other Perkins over the course of my 69 years of life and can state without reservation that this was the worst dining experience I have ever had. It will be a long time before I darken one of their...
Read moreCame into town from out of state to visit family and decided to give Perkins a try and will definitely not be going back. First when we entered the building we waited to be seated until another family showed up and finally we got seated. That same family got seated a couple minutes later directly next to us. Never were we offered a high hair or booster for our babies and never given any silverware although the other family was. Whatever brush it off right, probably an accident. No. A waiter came by and started to take that same families order even though we were waiting longer and had children with us who were starving. Finally waited a little longer and still continued to be ignored, never once offered any sort of hospitality in the form of drink order, silverware, high chairs, or anything else. We had to just get up and leave after the babies couldn’t handle the wait anymore. Will definitely NEVER go back and will never recommend as it did feel a little weird being the only Hispanic family in the...
