I highly recommend for a quick overnight stay. Cons: huge lack of any amenities. This is a bare minimum motel; no mini fridge, no microwave, 1 bar of soap, no shampoo, one set of thin towels. The TV remote didn't work. With all of that said, I only put what I did above for those expecting a normal, cheap room. Even the cheapest ones we have ever stopped at mini fridges & microwaves. But the price was exactly what I needed while traveling with my teen daughter. PROS: My situation was dire as me & my child were escaping an abusive husband. This Motel 6 was our first stop on our way to safety. I had rented the room for 2 nights because I knew that we needed time to decompress in a safe place. My 16 y/o has high functioning autism & will only eat certain foods that don't come from restaurants or convenient stores. So we had packed her foods & that is why we were sad to find no mini fridge & microwave. That isn't this Motel 6's fault. In my haste to leave my home, I hadn't read what amenities were not included because I didn't have time. We knew that we could not stay, & unfortunately we used the bathroom before we realized that there wasn't basic amenities. I was sick about it because I only had so much money that I was able to get away with & I know from working in hospitality for a long time that most rooms that you book online, unless you pay extra, you do not get your money back if you were to leave. We had also gotten word that it was possible that our abuser knew which direction we were going in & so we decided to leave Shamrock only a few hours into our stay at the motel. When we had checked in that day, I noticed how nice the staff was. I got a feeling that this was family-owned. This impressed me. I could tell that this was a friendly place. The lady that checked me in was sweet. When I decided that we needed to leave, we could have just left & not let them know. We had paid for the two days which I didn't think I was going to be refunded for I also knew that despite the fact that I would be losing money, they would be able to rent the room out again the next day if I let them know that I was leaving. I called from the room to let this nice lady know that we had to leave due to unforeseen circumstances. I told her that I knew that I would have to pay for the day we arrived & I also knew that I would lose my second day's payment. Without a beat she told me that because I had come in & paid when I checked in instead of online when I booked it, that she would be able to refund my second day. I became emotional because I was not expecting that. Most motels & hotels would stick to their policies about not refunding monies paid unless the customer had paid extra for the refund policy. This beautiful woman had no idea what I was facing. She had no idea that I was counting pennies & worrying that I wouldn't have enough money to travel to the safe house. Yet, without a second thought, she told me that she could return my second day payment if I came into lobby to check out. I was already emotional & as soon as I stopped in to return the keys, I started to sob when I saw her. I told her what I was facing & after refunding my money & treating me with compassion, she called out to me as I left that I WAS BRAVE! In today's world this is how human beings should treat each other. Thank you, beautiful lady with the loving heart. I made it to safety and I AM BRAVE. ❤️ I highly...
Read moreMike the manager was extremely nice to us. We arrived as the big winter storm was coming and there were high winds that had knocked out the internet. Mike immediately gave us a room to get us out of the cold and windy weather without checking us in When the internet returned he telephoned me. This is our second time staying here. The rooms are nice and extremely clean The water becomes hot in less than a minute. We travel a lot and this Motel 6 is definitely one of the very best in the country.
We have stayed in the Shamrock motel and I am always impressed. This is a family operated motel. Everyone is very nice, professional, organized and hard working. The room is always clean and everything is in working order. Of all the Motel 6’s that we stay in our cross country trips, Shamrock is one of our favorites.
Mike: This is Jose Alvarez, your guests from California. We love your hotel and family. Through the years you have given us great service. We are praying for you with these horrible fires and praying for God’s protection....
Read moreAfter 18 hrs of drive, we decided to find a hotel in Shamrock, TX. Never heard of the town but we didn’t want to drive another hours to Amarillo. We also had a dog. Did you know Motel 6 does not charge a stupid pet fee!? We googled before we picked a hotel and there happened to be Motel 6. Ok. When we arrived no one was at the check in counter. We waited about 5 min or so. Then front desk staff ran to the desk apologizing for delay. He was very polite and friendly. Then we entered our hotel room and first impression was this room smelled clean! It is outdated in lots of way but very clean everywhere. No nasty smells from the bathroom either. I carry Lysol cleaning wipes and wiped everywhere. Wipes did not get dirty. Wow! Don’t you ever underestimate Motel 6, especially this one. VERY CLEAN AND FRIENDLY STAFF! Shamrock is pretty little town. We arrived late and left early but McDonald’s staff in the town was friendly too. I...
