When I was in high school, I worked at this hotel so it was nice to see that it was reopened and being refurbished. It was a huge "going down memory lane for me". It was also weird seeing the rooms the way they are because in my mind, they should still be like a Best Western from the 90s, but they have done a great job considering this building has been empty for many years. It's very clean, well maintained, and you can tell they're trying to do a lot with what they have. I will probably stay here from now on unless it goes downhill, but I can't imagine, they would let it do that. The rooms are very modern. The kitchenette makes it nice, and it's a full refrigerator, but when you're actually trying to get ready, it makes it more interesting. Luckily, I am not someone that puts on a lot of makeup, but I do have to deal with hair products. So you have to wash your hands in the kitchen sink and use the mirror in the bathroom or the full mirror over by the door. It's very doable, not complaining. Just trying to help people that will be traveling. I recommend maybe putting a shelf below the towel rack, so you can set your toiletries there. Someone that might need a makeup bag is going to give you a bad review. The water in the shower does get hot. You just have to figure out the handle. Lol I took a lukeworm shower because I couldn't figure out the hot water. You have to turn it the opposite direction,I think and be patient. It will appear to be cold water at first, but it gets extremely hot. My husband was able to figure it out. Evidently, the cold water is the lukewarm water. Bring a sleep mask if you are sensitive to light. Light from outside is very bright around the edges of the blinds, again, not complaining. I think the rooms are amazing. Very clean and streamlined so no curtains covering the windows. The mattress was firm and the a/castle worked great. There is a place to grill outside. Dishes available. A dining table. Almost like an ABNB. Oh!!! The light switch controls the lamp and outlet by the window. Rachael at the front desk is amazing! She said, they have a military discount, too. They also bring you breakfast. We didn't remember to order it so we can't review that. Also!!!! The lamps change lighting for bright, warm and...
Read moreThe Hotel Townhouse is very unassuming. It looks like any other roadside largish motel. What makes it different is the ownership. When we pulled in the other night after a 10 hour drive I thought it looked familiar but I couldn't remember if it was familiar in a good way or familiar in a bad way. When I re-met the owners everything came back. They were such warm/friendly people that they had stuck in my mind after five or so years. They provided us with two bottles of water and let us switch rooms when we decided we wanted to be on the opposite side of the hotel. The rooms are incredibly simple but clearly a great deal of care has gone into cleaning them and making sure they are immaculate for guests. When we finished our trip I realized that I had forgotten a crucial set of documents in the room. It turns out they had been trying to get in touch and very kindly offered to go to the post office to mail it. When I think back of all the hotels on the trip that the documents could have been left at, I was so grateful it was here at the Hotel Townhouse. They could have easily thrown the items out but instead held onto them and tried to get in touch. That is service. I stayed at some hotels on this trip that were double the price but I slept just as well here and the Hotel Townhouse was just as clean if not cleaner than some of the "fancier" chain hotels. What's also great is that you can load right into your room from the parking lot which is a huge convenience after a long road trip. The lot is brightly lit and there is a McDonalds about a block away... Amazing ownership, clean and convenient. What more could...
Read moreNice inn in a nice little town. We had trouble finding a place to stay on our way back home, because everyone was sold out... Naturally, when you're going through a town called Shamrock during St Patrick's Day weekend, things are going to be busy! Lol. But, we got lucky when we called the Irish Inn and they had some rooms left! I have to say, i usually go for big name brand hotels, but i wanted to get the real route 66 experience and stay at smaller business places. From the moment i walked into the inn, i noticed it was very clean. The owner got me all checked in and she was nice and informative. I think she was ready for her night to be over (i checked in pretty late), but she was still friendly and i was so thankful we had a place to stay! When we got to our room, it was much bigger than i had expected. The room looked to be recently remodeled/ updated. It had all the typical amenities such as fridge, microwave, tv... The bathroom had not been updated, but it was still clean and in working order. The beds were clean and comfy and the pillows were nice and fluffy. In the morning, they had coffee that was served by the owner's husband. (I believe the full service and the lack of food options is because of covid). My husband said the man was very nice and even joked with him. It seems like a really nice family owns this place and is trying their best to update their inn and accommodating their guests. We really enjoyed our stay! Pros: Clean, updated rooms, spacious rooms, friendly staff, comfy beds, hot water, family friendly, Cons: lack of options at breakfast (which, as i stated, is...
