Western Motel Route 66 Shamrock, Texas
During this trip, we decided to stay at some Route 66 Motels. One that we stayed at is located on Route 66 Shamrock, Texas. We booked the room because people have suggested this motel and had great reviews from others who had stayed there. I could already tell that the motel was going to be clean. The exterior property and the grounds were clean, and the curb appeal for the motel was excellent.
Our room was great and it was nicely decorated. The color scheme was bright and colorful. As someone who has worked in hotel operations and management, I would say this was a very clean room. The beds were made perfectly, and I could tell that the owner took his time inspecting the rooms for the guest. There are several amenities in the rooms, such as a mini fridge, coffee maker, and luggage stand. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.
During our stay while I was taking photos in the morning, the Jyoti Uppen Patel came up to me, and we had a great conversation about The Western Motel. He is a great owner and is quite personable. I could tell he is eager to make sure his guests are comfortable. He told me that he likes to clean the parking lot. We spotted him doing this while we ate across the street. This makes sense since it's one of the first impressions a guest will notice. Well, at least that's what I notice first. He was kind enough to show me the rooms upstairs. All the rooms upstairs have a great view of the Conoco Station located across the street. I could only imagine what it looks like at night from the second floor. The room on the left has the best view. One room even has three beds, which is perfect for families. The rooms were very clean as I watched Jyoti fix a few things in the rooms. He has his standards, and I can appreciate that, especially since he can spot what's wrong with the cleaning immediately, especially if something is out of place.
This is a must stay for travelers, and the owners are great. Their guest service is fantastic, and they make sure that the guest will be comfortable in clean rooms.
Thank you, Jyoti, for a wonderful stay at the...
Read moreRooms are about what you would expect from the appearance on the outside not luxury but sufficient. The price is $83 with tax for one person with no pets for a queen bed room or roughly $73 with AAA discount. $83 is roughly the same amount as the Sleep Inn down the street charges with better rooms and amenities, the Econlodge is down a couple of blocks and the rooms are comparable to the Western Motel and are around $50. The room was incredibly hot when I arrived because the window A/C unit was off and it was a 100 degrees outside. I completely understand them not wanting to waste electricity but at least put some of the rooms that might be used that night on the low setting. The service was friendly, but I have to mention that a employee just unlocked my room door and came in, he apoligized and mistakes happen, but come on, this is a motel, that's the part that should be good to go. Strangers shouldn't be opening your room door. The WiFi was subpar that being said I was at the very end of the building so it probably is better the closer you get to the office. Look if it was $50 to $60 dollars to stay here I would suggest stay here for the price if your looking for a cheap stay, but this is over 80 dollars and there are better hotels in this town for that price, or Amarillo is about a hour and 15 minutes away. By the way they were advertised on a few online booking sites for $65 but charge $75($83 with tax) in person so if you do stay here book on a online...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for a night on our way from central Missouri to Albuquerque. I had made a reservation online prior to leaving home, based on the website description and the excellent reviews. We love staying at older historical properties like this, especially if the owner has spent time and money modernizing and renovating, as this gentleman has. We were NOT disappointed! The owner checked us in, and checked us out the next morning. Don't let anyone try to tell you that owning a motel is a kick-back-and-relax proposition! The room was very pleasant, with modern paint touches and a strong AC system, and the usual coffee maker, TV, easy chair, etc. The bed, likewise, was not a Walmart special, as it was comfortable (to us), as were the pillows. The bathroom, too, had some unexpectedly nice tile and the shower pressure was great. The bath was small, but certainly in keeping with the "motor inn" design when it was built, and no fault of the owner. Above all...clean, clean, and CLEAN! The room, the bathroom, the office, the parking lot, all spotless. This is an owner who has pride! And the price for all this? Under $100, with room left for breakfast. If you like properties with Route 66 history and a story to tell, we HIGHLY recommend a stop here. Great food within walking distance, fuel is also close by, and the iconic Tower Conoco station is literally across the street. The Western Motel is a true gem, and we won't hesitate to...
