Our curiosity was piqued, and we couldn't wait to see what they'd done. Stepping inside was like stepping into a warm embrace. The atmosphere was immediately inviting, a perfect blend of nostalgic charm and fresh, modern energy. We were greeted by a delightful hostess who shared the heartwarming story of her sister and brother-in-law's venture. The passion and dedication of the owners were palpable! And the food? Oh, the food! The beef brisket was simply divine – tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It was clear that quality and care went into every dish. After driving for 7 hours we stopped here for dinner. The reviews we read made it sound great. The food was mediocre. Only half the menu was available to order from. No bbq sauce with my pulled pork. The broccoli/grape/pecan pasta salad was only bow tie pasta. They ran out of gravy for the mashed potatoes. The table tops so old that the design was worn off. The window sill next to our both was covered with dust. I didn’t use the restroom but my husband said the men’s room was pretty bad. Driving from LA to Chicago, we ran a cross the most authentic diner yet. The owners were delightful to chat with about the history of the building, rt 66, and the town of Shamrock. The food was fantastic. We had a yogurt parfait, a Waldorf salad, and banana bread. Everything was homemade from family recipes. The two meals were so good we took a meatloaf and another banana bread on the road with us for later. Don't pass the meatloaf, it was just like my mom's, which was delicious and brought back fond memories. We cannot wait to return for St Patty's day...
