Hotel is in a great location if you are attending an event at the MEC, which is right across the street. There is somewhat of a grassy/gravel/paved walkway on the MEC side of the road. From the time we walked out of our hotel room and walked up to the front doors at the MEC, it was a 7 minute walk for 2 able bodied people. The hotel was clean inside and out and maintained. Our sleeping room was clean with no damage, bedding was clean, and mattress was comfortable to sleep on. There was a bit of a humid feel to the room even with running the air and the hotel placing a moisture absorbing bag in the room. The bathrooms are on the small side, unless you are only looking to wash your hands or brush your teeth. There is very little room for the door to close to take a shower or use the toilet. You literally need to step to the side to close the door. Our room was at the end of the hallway and we could hear people coming and going throughout the night when the exterior door would click and latch. Rather annoying. Being a smaller hotel and not family/kid oriented, we did find the hotel to be quiet, minus the exterior door clicking/latching. There were no children running up and down the hallway or helping themselves in the breakfast room or other young child activity. The wifi was not the best connection for our laptop or tablet. We found to have better connections using our phone. At times we gave up on the laptop because the page just kept spooling and took forever to load. Breakfast is not much to talk about. A pre-made/heat and serve cheese omelette that looked like it was cut into 3rds and over cooked, biscuits with very thin gravy, yogurt, some fruit - not much, a couple muffins, very few bagels and slices of bread each morning, or just not well stocked and a waffle maker along with coffee and juice. I have stayed at other hotels in the area and the breakfast has tons more, but the cost is much higher. We didn't stay at the hotel for the breakast, we stayed for the location to the event center...
Read moreWe stayed here September 9th to September 11th 2024. We had reserved a pet friendly room with a single queen bed. When we checked in we were directed to room 117. We were in the room a short time when my wife noticed a problem in the bathroom above the toilet next to the shower. Black mold on the ceiling. Yikes! I went back to the front desk with a photo on my phone and explained the situation to the attendant. He said he was not aware and had not heard complaints from other guests. I asked for another room and was told that the hotel was fully booked, and no rooms were available. I went back to the room to talk to my wife and decide what to do. When I went back to talk with the front desk there was a conversation going on over the phone in the back room. The manager moved us to a double queen room for the night and the next day we were moved to another pet friendly single queen room. The attendant said the manager was aware of the problem but failed to communicate the issue to staff. Now after all that we came for the giant flee market in Shipshewana and I want express that this issue didn't dampen our trip. I feel like the room never should have been available for guests until the problem was addressed. I also did not see other guests enter or leave the room while we remained at the hotel. But I also feel that the hotel did an excellent job to accommodate us given the situation. The other two rooms were clean had no issues. The breakfast was good and restocked when needed. Coffee was available all day. All in all I would consider...
Read moreOne of the worst places we've ever stayed in. Our room smelled like someone just had a cigarette. There NOT queen size beds. More like full. When we left this place I checked my credit card when we returned home. I noticed they charged us for two rooms, when I spoke with the manager about a refund, he was incredibly rude! In fact, he hung up on me as I was explaining the additional charge on my credit card. At first I though he cannot understand because he's from India. I then called him back, he admitted he hung up on me. I asked again for a refund on the room we never booked. He again hung up. 🤬I called Expedia who we booked a room through. They did reach out to the manager about our issue, they also experienced this man's rudeness. After multiple conversations we finally received a refund. This hotel isn't worth the amount they're asking for a room. Stay somewhere else! On a side note, do not eat at there Continental breakfast, it's all microwave food. Gray sausage, old bread, eggs were microwaved, I saw a woman take them out to serve. Not one of them washed their hands before placing items on platters. Disgusting! Never again Super 8 in...
