The room was clean, but if you are a black minority and you value privacy I would pass on this location. I worked overnight shifts and I was constantly bugged about housekeeping. They don’t honor and value guests’ preferences here. They impose the rules they want on guests and that’s backwards. I was too tired most days to have my sleep interrupted for housekeeping to come in and I preferred to do my own cleaning. On 1/16/24 I was approached in my car by a housekeeper knocking on my car window a little after 3:00 pm. This was intrusive and it shows you the degree to which you are constantly watched and followed and harassed after you clearly don’t want to be bothered. If a guest has a do not disturb sign on their door you shouldn’t try other methods to contact them such as following them to their car. I had to park on the side street during the day to avoid intrusiveness from staff and no guest should spend their hard earned money and have to go through all of that. I was given a note upon check in that says housekeeping is only available upon request due to COVID yet the manager made rules up as she went along saying housekeeping needed to be done every 7 days. She kept bugging me about taking my do not disturb sign down. Also nothing on the website says you can’t stay as long as you need to yet she made up rules about how they don’t do long term stays and how I should go across the street to the other Best Western property. A dollar is a dollar and it shouldn’t matter if it comes from a short term stay or a long term stay. I was also harassed by another guest in the shared microwave area and he attempted to exert dominance by opening the microwave during my cycle with my item in it and when I was irritated he stated we had to share the space when ironically he was the one who wasn’t respecting my boundaries. He kept harassing me even after I removed my food and told him to heat his food and leave me alone. He just kept talking and escalating the tension even though there was nothing else that needed to be said. I didn’t feel safe in the small shared microwave space with men coming in behind me. It’s inconvenient to share one microwave with grown men who fight women over...
Read moreRude front desk manager. I normally don’t leave poor reviews for that because everyone has rough days, but we were left on the street with our bags because she wouldn’t let us check in a few hours early. We had just gotten off a 4 hour flight from TN and just wanted somewhere to rest. I’m pretty sure she almost said that wasn’t her problem before she caught herself. I’m sorry but you at least need to offer some suggestions on where we could go to wait until a room becomes available. She was so hostile right off the bat we didn’t even wanna sit in the lobby. After about 3 nights, one of which was terrifying due to some random guy trying to bathe in the pool while we were down there, we went to the holiday inn at hermosa beach and…SURPRISE they let us check in early and check out a little later since our flight was late and we didn’t have to pay $25 every hour we were there before/after check in. I’m sorry but you don’t leave people on the streets with their bags. No one is ever gonna come to a hotel/motel at 3pm sharp when flights are involved. Having a rule that you can’t check in early is asinine and I’ve never encountered that before and I’m sure I never will again. I don’t know what that lady’s problem is but she shouldn’t be a front...
Read moreClose enough to Universal Studios (about 30 minutes) and reasonably cheap rates. This is no five star hotel by any means, but for what it is, it’s great! Beds are on the firmer but still soft side. The have a small outdoor pool & hot tub. We did use both, however the pool isn’t heated and was pretty cold in the afternoon. And if I had any real complaint, it would be that the hot tub was definitely not hot. Just kind of warm. Definitely warmer than the pool though, obviously lol. I’ve seen some reviewers complain about the area, snd while I agree it’s not the fanciest it really didn’t seem too bad. Just typical California. There’s a Target half mile down the road, which was awesome cause I forgot to bring a couple things. Right across the street from the hotel there are a couple great restaurants. One is a sushi place, the other is Mexican. We went to the Mexican restaurant and it was delicious! My daughter and husband had fish tacos and they both said they were the best fish tacos they had ever had. I will agree the parking is a little tight, especially if you have bigger car. But other than that it was great! We didn’t come here to hang out in the hotel all day, we just needed a place to sleep after visiting...
