Hi-Way Host Motel — Hotel in Sierra Madre

There were only three good things to say about this place. Friendly front office, it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. We brought our own pillows. First of all, it is not a B &B. Secondly, the pictures shown on the website must be one of the newly renovated rooms. The sign out front makes you think that ALL have been renovated, but obviously, not. We saw two rooms, 109 and 126, haven't been renovated to the standards shown in the website pictures. I should have taken more pictures but the ones shown by another reviewer are very similar to what we saw. First, they put us in 109, we were appalled, vinyl flooring, not well laid; only a bed with side tables with lamps and a wooden chair and dresser. Broken blinds, no screens on two windows and torn screen on the bathroom window. Since the air conditioner wasn't working they put us in 126. That was in slightly better condition. That room had a nicer laid vinyl floor, a desk plus the other furniture that 109 had, as well as the broken blinds, missing and torn screens. There was a dead spider in the corner, which stayed there the two days we were there. The shower head came out of a large hole in the wall and there was broken tile. Dirty walls and unfinished molding around the AC. The second day we left at 8 AM returning at 4 PM. The room was not made up. So when we asked if we were supposed to make our own bed, the office manager called someone to do it, but that was it. They did not empty the trash, replace the coffee cups and coffee amenities or sweep away the dead spider. Won't be staying there again. Lots of cars in the parking lot, so I guess lots of people don't have an issue with the conditions. You get what...

I'm renaming this to the NO Way Motel! Needed a last minute 1 night room in Pasadena so I booked through Hotwire...truly disappointed! I highly advise anyone to skip this motel.||Check in was any time after 2 PM. Got to the Motel at 2:30 PM and there's a sign that read, "Back at 3 PM". That was frustrating as it was incredibly hot and I really needed to use the bathroom. So, we left to a restaurant and came back at 4 PM. ||There is a $20 CASH deposit required. Good thing I had cash ($23 exactly), but that would have been useful to know prior to checking in. ||Took a quick glance at the pool...nope, not doing it! Definitely would catch some flesh eating bacteria from that pool.||The room...well, NO toilet paper. WTF? Overall, pretty dingy and old with a paint job. Toilet was unstable so one hard lean to the right and I was scared to topple over with the toilet. At 6 AM it clogged up, wouldn't flush so we went to front desk and they said maintenance arrived at 8 AM. So, bathroom was just out of commission.||The unexpected guests...tiny roaches scattered all over the sink when I turned on the bathroom light. Ugh!! My skin is crawling. ||The noise...so annoying!! The guests above us must have been performing a triathalon or something. It was a pattern of running, door slams, yelling...and repeat. ||I saw a Best Western a block away and I was tempted, but then I told myself it's just 1 night. I will survive.||I am the type of guest that likes to lounge around until check out time but with this place I was ready...

Lack of Integrity and they do not honor what they say. Checked online to see if any rooms were available. It was sold out except for one website. So I called to confirm. This man picked up when I called. He told me they had plenty of rooms available. I said okay so can I reserve a room then? He said yes. I said okay I’ll come book it online then. He said no come in person instead by 2PM and we will reserve you a room don’t worry. We have many rooms. I asked more than once are you sure? Cus like I said it was sold out. The guy said yes that’s only online. We have many rooms in person and insisted I come in person. I come in person the next day. The guy already had an attitude when I walked up to the place. I explained how I called last night and told him about the call. He immediately told me nothing was available and claimed I called the wrong place. Even though I explained everything I was told and showed him proof of the call. He then tried to gaslight me into making me think it was my own fault. Showed him the number and call log. He told me they only had 2 days available out of the 4 I originally had requested. I ended up leaving because he said there’s many hotels you can go nearby instead with an annoyed tone. The whole place looked very rundown and unsafe to even walk around. It’s by the highway with only car dealerships nearby. Very inconvenient location....
