This place is racist. I donât recommend for people of color to eat here. I really didnt like how they seem clueless and rude with âpeople of colorâ. Me and my husband sat and ate , here , we ordered 2 dinner plates of tacos with rice beans and our drinks. The server walked around the whole restaurant asking everyone if they needed refills , more salsa or anything etc. she kept skipping me and my husband as if we werenât there. She never asked us âif we needed a nothingâ, the way a server is supposed to. So my husband had to get up and get us refills from the front counter , when he asked for a refill they looked at him âstrangeâ , as if we werenât even sitting here eating paying to eat here. Everyone in the restaurant was either Caucasian or Hispanic. They catered to everyone except us. We took notice. It made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. My husband didnât even finish his food. We got up and left. Weâll never be coming back to this place. The food isnât even 100% authentic they serve shredded meat and chicken only, for every plate, with only flour tortillas. I asked for soft corn chicken tacos with cilantro and green sauce , and everything in it. I guess since we looked âBlack to themâ they gave us the most tasteless dish possible, with hard shell tacos and shredded chicken and red sauce ? By the way Iâm half Mexican and black , my mother is from San Luis, Mexico . I do speak , read and write in Spanish fluently lol I heard everything they were saying about us , Very disappointed, dissatisfied and disgusted with the restaurants actions. I donât think Iâve ever been treated this poorly in a ââMexican...
Read moreMy husband and I attended a wonderful play at the A Noise Within Theatre and were looking for a restaurant nearby to catch a bite to eat before the performance. From the outside Chiquita Bonita may not seem like you'd want to give it a try but step inside and you won't be disappointed. They serve delicious, authentic Mexican food. I had the bira combo plate and my husband had the carnitas dinner. They were out of my go-to choice, carne asada, that I use to rate all Mexican restaurants. What? Turns out another customer ordered a ton of take-out delivered to his Mercedes in 4 full size steam trays. I suspect that's where my carne asada went. Alas, but we will be back! The owner felt so badly about being out of the carne asada he comped our amazing flan dessert and coffee. The flan was out of this world: dense, not too sweet and lightly drizzled with a smoky carmel sauce. The staff is attentive and friendly. The restaurant is clean and the portions are HUGE. And, it's within walking distance to the theatre. We will be making return...
Read moreWe came here last night again, and have decided that we will come here at least once a week. They have a couple of beers on tap, and large plasma TV that usually has a game on. I have probably had everything on the menu at this point. Last night I had Camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp in red sauce) and he had #4 combo (2 enchiladas). We usually have leftovers for the following day, because the portions are big. I read some of the other reviews, and wondered if they were mistaking this place for another?? The food is NOT bland. It is authentic mexican. If they want an americanized version of mexican food, then they need to go to Acapulco or El Torito (which I happen to like as well). I gave this place 5 stars because the food is authentic and delicious, service is fine, price is fantastic, and the place is clean. I am not going to knock off a star because the decor is like a traditional restaurant in Mexico, with parrot prints, and fake parrots. The food and service...
