I'm going to try my hardest to give an honest and fair review without coming off as a "Karen". When we first looked at the resort online on their website, it looked great. The photos and angles were carefully chosen to represent a very nice, high-standard villa in Siesta Key. Unfortunately, this was far from it- having what was probably one of the worst vacation room experiences I've ever had. For reference, we paid $2K for a one-bedroom for a one-week stay. When we drove up to the parking lot, we immediately had a feeling of dread as you can tell that this resort is completely run down and needs some major updating and care. The grass all along the property is completely burnt and un-kept. Upon walking into our room, we noticed that it had a very strange, musky, and humid stench. Even my 5-year-old noticed and said it smelled "very yucky." Upon walking around, I noticed the room had an overall grimy feel to it. There was a moldy white substance growing on the side of the refrigerator that had clearly not been cleaned for a very long time, there was mold growing all along the bathroom faucets, there was noticeable water damage all around the vents on the bedroom ceiling, the microwave didn't work, the bathroom light turn on, and the tv didn't work. When I walked into the bedroom, the first thing I saw was a live cockroach walking across the floor. I went to the management office to complain and was told they would send the maintenance crew the next morning to fix the tv and blamed the dirtiness on the cleaning company. The next morning, the maintenance gentleman (who was very nice) brought in a new TV. It took him all morning to unmount the old tv, and install the new one, as well as fix the bathroom light. My husband unfortunately could not go with us to the beach as he needed to stay with the maintenance gentleman while he worked in the room. The next morning, an entire team of maintenance guys came in with a new microwave and spent all morning tearing up our kitchen (all for a microwave), and again, my husband had to hang back for most of the day, stuck in the room, while the team worked in the unit. Overall, for the price we paid, Sea Spray Resort was extremely overpriced, and not worth it. During my time here, I decided to jot down some other locations in the area that would have been a much better choice and were comparably priced. I would NOT recommend Sea Spray Resort. I am not by any means a bougie hotel person, but at the very least, if I'm paying $2,000 for a one-bedroom, I'd like to at least have a clean room for my family to stay in and appliances/TV that work. Perhaps a few years ago, it would have been a great place to stay, but my experience was extremely disappointing. Do your research when looking in this area, as there are so many other great...
Read moreBob was amazing when our other accommodations fell through 3 days before our trip. He understood how upset I was and offered a couple of rooms that were available. He was so easy to communicate with and so helpful.
The resort itself is not super fancy - but the rooms are super cute, clean and perfect for a vacation. We stayed in 2 different rooms. One had a full kitchen and one had 2 balconies but not a full kitchen, but did have a refrigerator and microwave. There are gas grills for your use and great restaurants and who really wants to cook on vacation anyway. I would highly recommend the one with the balcony. The bathrooms and kitchen were updated with granite countertops and all of the furniture looked new with a Beach vibe (super cute). It is very close to the beach and restaurants/shopping in the village. It is near the less busy part of the beach which was perfect for us.
The beds were amazing and I loved what some described as a hard pillows. In fact, I got a recommendation from Bob for the mattresses that they have at the resort because we liked them so much. I slept like a dream. The air conditioners work amazing and the it was very comfortable for sleeping. We had friends stay in a really nice house and they couldn't get it cool and were in a stuffy, musty house for a week.
Oh and did I mention clean! Clean as clean can be. With COVID-19 concerns you can tell that everything was thoroughly sanitized.
The resort has 2 outdoor areas with grills and furniture and a pool (common use). My friend said it reminded her of her Melrose Place.
To summarize, Amazing Management, great price, clean, updated, close to beach and shopping/restaurants. One last thing - very convenient parking. With all of the options for rentals on the island - do yourself a favor and rent here. They also have rooms with private patios and 1 has a private pool. ...
Read moreThe Start- Upon arrival, we were informed that the room we booked-the “Flamingo”- was being painted. And was quickly informed, we were upgraded to the “Starfish” or the “Honeymoon” Suite. What a pleasant and welcome surprise after a 16 hour roadtrip! :). (Also, plenty of local info in the office for things to do in Siesta Key.) The Room- super clean, private and had eveything we could want, and then some, for our week in Siesta Key.- beach cart, beach chairs, beach towels, etc. Very spacious. The private pool was perfect for relaxing anytime we weren’t on the beach and the grill was perfect to have for a few lunches and dinners. The Local- the Village was a 10-minute walk with plenty to offer in shopping and bars/restaraunts. An absolutely stunning beach was even closer- where I would recommend catching a few sunsets. Public beach access (10) was right across the street but has no parking. During our stay, this area seemed to be far less busy compared to others further down the key. Overall- we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Siesta Key. And this place had alot to do with that convenience-wise. It was a pleasure to briefly meet Bob. He certainly takes pride in his place. Definitely will be staying at Sea Spray Resort in the future! And recommend that anyone going to Siesta Key gives them a visit. Thanks Bob and Staff! Until next time... C. Harris-...
