Where do I even start...?! First, if there was an option to rate this place less than 1 or even into negative numbers I would have probably done that. One star was the lowest possible rating available so that's why I even gave it one star.
Here goes... Our friends from New Hampshire whom we haven't seen in several years we're going to come to Siesta Key for a few days. They booked a room at Siesta Beach Resort and Suites. So we decided to drive over from the East Coast and spend one night here with them so we booked a "suite" at the same Hotel. When our friends arrived on Wednesday the room they were given was so incredibly gross that they complained to management. They compared pictures of the room they were given with pictures of what is on the website and it was night and day. The manager Linda, made arrangements for them to stay at another one of Beachside Management's Properties about 10 minutes south of here. When we found out about that, we contacted Linda and asked if we could also be moved because after all, we booked at this hotel so we could be near our friends. She simply said no that she couldn't do that. So we decided to stay here and just spend most of our time with our friends at their hotel Bianco Sands. When we got here to check in, what we found was appalling! For the price of this room which I think, is just about $200 a night you will see the pictures I posted of what we got. The coffee maker had a used coffee pouch in it and the scum around the top made me gag. There are stains all over the carpet, a hole in the ceiling and stains on the curtains reminiscent of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. The whole place is just gross. I did go up and look at the room before moving in but when I went back down to the steel pod in the parking lot that serves as their office and told the gentleman there of my findings, he told me we had one of the best rooms in the hotel. That was very discouraging. In my conversation with the manager Linda, I was told that even though there were rooms available over where they put my friends at "Bianca Sands" that they wouldn't move us. She said we could pay the full $350 per night price for a room there if we wanted but we would lose the $200 we had prepaid on the room here. There would be no credit if we didn't stay in this room. Being that I'm not a rich man, I was not prepared just spend $550 for one night in Siesta Key so we stayed in the gross room. In all fairness, the sheets were not gross. They had bed bug covers on the beds which I guess is a good thing? It's just a shame when you pay so much to stay at a hotel room and you feel you have to put on your shoes before you can get out of bed. Please see the photographs I posted and realize that NOTHING is an exaggeration or staged. It is how we found it. Please see additional photos in my...
Read moreI reserved an ADA handicap room and first I couldn't get my rollator through the door then there was no room to use it in the room because there was a nightstand against the wall at the end of the bed so we had to fold it and my husband helped me get around the room when needed. When they said no frills in the description they meant it. No phone in the room, no sink, mirror or shower curtain in the bathroom no dresser for your clothes. I do have to say there was a sink in the room but it was a kitchen sink to wash dishes and I didn't mind using it for my hands but to clean my teeth in it just gave me an uncomfortable feeling. Above this sink was the AC which is a small wall unit that sounded like a plane taking off every 15 minutes and the mini fridge buzzed very loud all night long. The front desk is actually an office across and down the street and don't expect to have anyone answer the phone if you call at 7am because the shower is missing the handicap shower seat or even at 8pm when you call because of the AC or fridge noise. We were supposed to be there 2 nights but we checked out after 1 night. The Tiki in their name is not a Bar and it says on Google there is a Continental Breakfast but there was none. They also told us we could come to the office to get ice but there is no one there after business hours so you have to buy a bag from the ice machine next to the snack machine on the street corner next to the Tiki that isn't a bar across and down the street from my room. As for the pool I guess it was nice but we never got to go in the pool because we didn't get checked in until 420p then spoke to the manager to checkout the next day because it wasn't a real ADA room. After we went to dinner we tried to get into the pool area but you don't use your card you need a code and we tried the room code and that wasn't it. Of course there was no answer at the office and the next day on our way home we called to let them know we were checking out at 8am and no answer so we went to breakfast and then called them at 10a and I asked to speak to the Manager Eric but he wasn't there and I was told to call back the next day. When I did speak to Eric the next day I asked for at least the 39 back for the resort fee and I was willing to pay for the night even though I never slept and that was my worst experience that I ever had at a hotel but he refused to give it back because he said he LET me cancel the second night. LET ME CANCEL!!! THAT MAKES ME MAD BECAUSE THE ROOM WAS NOT ADA AND THE GIRL WHO MADE MY RESERVATION KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED AND IF THAT WASN'T WHAT THE ROOM WAS THEN SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE SOLD IT TO ME AS...
Read moreEDIT: I'm giving this hotel two more stars because of the thoughtful reply email I received from the management. They addressed each of my Cons below with either an explanation or a solution I could have taken: It's true that I did not ask for housekeeping to address the dirty microwave and should have, but it would have been nice to have a broom available without having to ask. We did ask for a different room but we're told that because they were "94% full" they couldn't give up any available rooms (this didn't quite make sense to us). I do think that the ADA rooms can look more pleasant and inviting; ok not sure why I need a poolside room to get attractive colors and decorations. Mgmt did suggest that if we return that I choose a poolside room for better accommodations... but the photos of the room I reserved online clearly showed a poolside room with a private patio area. This is not what we were given.
In the end, I increased my rating from 1 to 3 stars because of the quick reply from management. I always appreciate a personal reply with thoughtful solutions. It may not have been our best experience but they do seem to genuinely care about their guests experiences and that means a lot.
Pro: Proximity to beach (right across the street) and all restaurants and shops. Cooler, chairs, and beach wagon are convenient to have. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Staff was pleasant. Door code lock makes it nice to not keep track of a key.
CONS: Our room was right in the parking lot which made it very loud to cars, maintenance, and normal level conversations walking by. The microwave was filthy with old food smeared inside. The thermostat was locked at 72, wouldn't go any lower. No broom to sweep up sand. Not enough outlets for phone chargers. Room was really unwelcoming in amenities and appearance. Nowhere to sit except the bed and hard chairs. The pool was across the street. Only decaf coffee pods available. Do not leave food out, not even wrapped up bags of chips as there are tiny bugs everywhere. Put all food in the fridge! No dresser with drawers for your clothes, and only...
