We wanted to get the kids (6 & 4.5) on skis up at Hoodoo for the second time. We live down in the Sunriver area, so rather than making it a day trip, we thought it would be fun to spend the weekend in Sisters. When looking for accommodations, we found Left Coast Lodge as a lodging partner linked from Hoodoo's website. When I explored the LCL website, it looked perfect for our family of four + 2 dogs. They delivered. We stayed in a King suite which had a King bed in the main area with a kitchenette, small dining bar, and bathroom. Attached through a barn door was a little garage with full roll up door (that opened to a little patio with hammock), but was furnished with a couch/futon, a small table and chairs, and a TV. It was perfect for the kids. We connected our Apple TV and they fell asleep to a movie each night after a long day of skiing or just exploring the quaint town of Sisters. The dogs had the best time playing with Louie (the owner/caretaker's dog) in the fenced dog run right in the middle of the property. It was so nice to have a place to let them run around and play. Both nights we were there, we walked to the back corner of the property to enjoy the hot tub. There was a firepit with wood provided that we didn't use, but definitely plan to next time. The whole place was amazing, and the owners are so nice and hospitable. There is a little office that you can access at anytime for conveniences like ice, or coffee. If you have any questions, you can just text the number that sent you your electronic access information and they will be quick to respond. The renovations are very tasteful and well done, beds are comfortable, and the layout was perfect for our family, but they have other accommodation types too! A little cottage, an upstairs unit with a balcony that I assume has an incredible view of the cascades right out back. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, clean, comfortable place in Sisters, OR. You cannot beat the location...walking distance to everything. Our favorite, Sisters Coffee House is right down the road. It is across the street from Sno-Cap drive-in which made the kids very happy when I ran over to get them some ice cream on the first night. :) When we asked the owner for a recommendation for dinner, he suggested the Barn which was an amazing food truck lot with a barn that served beer and delicious cocktails. It looked like they were in the process of landscaping the entire center part and have a great little stage built for live music acts. We look forward to getting back there. Food was excellent and met a lot of great people. Very kid and pet friendly. The next night, we had dinner at the Ski Inn and had some delicious burgers. They had a good kids menu as well. On the morning we were leaving, I ran down the road to Euro Sports where there are a few food trucks and picked up some incredible biscuits and gravy and chicken biscuits from Wonderland Chicken Co. Another fantastic recommendation from the owner of LCL. We ate on the front porch and then packed up the car for the 45min drive home. So nice to be less than an hour from home/work and still feel like we were on a complete vacation. We cannot wait to return to Left Coast Lodge. Thanks for the...
Read moreMy folks retired to Sisters several years ago, and one ongoing challenge has been finding the right accommodations for me, my husband, and the most cherished member of our family—our rescue dog, Maggie. Left Coast Lodge checks all the boxes and will now be our go-to lodging option for future visits.
One thing that really sets this place apart is the on-site management. After staying in vacation rentals and other hotels in Sisters where no staff were available during late-night or early-morning hours, I realized how important it is to have someone present. As someone with hyperacusis (sound sensitivity) and hyperosmia (heightened sensitivity to smells), disruptions can really affect my comfort and sleep. Left Coast Lodge was wonderfully quiet and peaceful, which made a big difference for me.
Unfortunately, we’ve had negative experiences at other local hotels where guests with pets were overcharged and given the shabbiest, smelliest rooms. That was not the case here. The management at Left Coast Lodge was welcoming, kind, and went above and beyond to accommodate us—with true dog-loving hearts. The pet-friendly room we stayed in was sparkling clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated with charming vintage touches. Hardwood floors, comfortable beds, and a kitchenette made our stay even better.
The lodge itself is situated against a stunning backdrop with views of the Three Sisters mountains. The property features great amenities like a hot tub, ping pong tables, picnic tables, shaded areas, and open space for games—perfect for families or groups. We’re even considering renting several units in the future for a family reunion or special celebration.
A few small suggestions (not complaints!) that could enhance the experience even more: The units are compact, and it might help to have a bit more guest storage, perhaps by converting the bedside shelves into small drawers. We noticed the bed would roll slightly away from the headboard while sitting up to watch TV, which caused our pillows to slip into the gap. If there’s a way to anchor the bed or close that space, it would be appreciated, but again, not impacting our stay. And the very last suggestion is… Please can you can add some of those tiny pouches of salt and pepper to add to the kitchenette near the utensils and sugars for coffee? We forgot to bring salt for our microwaveable popcorn and it could have used some to make it taste better 😊
Lastly, a big thank you to the gracious hosts who welcomed us with a bottle of my favorite sparkling cider, we were too late for the open house earlier in the day and it was exactly what I needed, such a thoughtful touch. The 11 a.m. checkout time was also perfect, especially for those of us who need to catch up on rest (which is easy to do in these quiet, comfortable units!).
Highly recommend Left Coast Lodge—no question, we’ll...
Read moreWe have stayed at the Left Coast Lodge several times. We enjoy our stay every time. For the work-from-home or teenager: the internet is fast enough for working-from-home and for teenagers who surf and stream movies. I am told the internet extends to the hammocks. For the outdoors type: there is a bike cleaning station, bike hooks in the rooms, and tons of trails to explore. Plus mountains… Lots of mountains… and hammocks. For the tourist: the hotel is also close to shopping. Bend and Redmond are about 20-25 minutes away. Bend sometimes takes longer due to chronic construction. The mountains are right there as well. For the home-body: the hot tub is convenient and hot. The rooms are nice and clean. The beds are comfortable and there is an air filter in each room. The internet easily handles streaming the eruption of the volcano in Iceland. Deer frequently visit and are visible out any window. Plus, Plus did I mention there are hammocks outside which you can lounge around in. For the covid-safe: there is an air filter in each room, no common areas, and the staff is very covid-safe. Hammocks are always covid safe. Just bring a pool noodle to bat anyone (or your kids) back 6-feet (just kidding, kind of) For animal lovers: the owners have two dogs (I think two) that are well behaved and very funny. Plus there is a little dog area. A hotel nearby has llamas as well.
Only caveat: Fire season. Fire season ruins everything in Oregon so if you get there and there are tons of signs for fire camps, signs to support the crews, and tons of smoke… be respectful, turn on the air filter, thank any fire fighters you see, and thank the lucky stars it isn’t you that has your house burning or that has to fight those beastly fires.
So in summary: a great hotel. We visit because I have medical stuff in Bend several times a year. It does not matter who comes with me, they are always thrilled and happy to go. I highly recommend it. Just don’t book the hotel out when we...
