I needed a room for one night this past weekend. There was not much available around Twain Harte but the El Dorado, when I told them it would just be me they said they had one room available...so I booked it. When I arrived I found out that the power was out in the area...so not the fault of the motel. However, for heat I was told that they put a propane heater in my room. I questioned them about the safety of that but was told it would be fine...more on this later. So I go to the room and it is without a doubt the smallest motel room I have ever seen. The room itself as a kind of trapezoid shape and the longest sides were about 8ft long. If I had wider shoulders or bigger feet I might not have fit into it...I'm not kidding...it was that small. It had a small bed, a little shelf with a microwave and coffee maker on top and a small refrigerator underneath and only one ceiling light for illumination. There was an electric wall heater but we were told not to use it because the motel was on a generator. It had a small bathroom which was about 3/4 of the size of the room but only the overhead light worked and so it was very dark in there. I will say it was clean and the staff was very nice but there were lots of other things that just weren't good about this room. There was no place to sit down or a table to use. Even though this room was tiny, they could have had a folding chair and table in there. This tiny room served my purpose for the night. Back to the propane heater...I looked the use of a propane heater online and every site said that they produce carbon monoxide and to use them in a small space sparingly and to air the space out every once in awhile to avoid asphyxiation. The sites also noted that propane heaters consume oxygen which combined with carbon monoxide and the small room could have been dangerous if I left it on and fell asleep. Thank goodness the power eventually came on and I was able to use the wall heater. The temps that night were in the 20s so it was cold. I don't know what the other rooms are like but don't rent room 12 if you are claustrophobic. I was charged ~ $100 to stay there that one...
Read moreI booked with this hotel months in advance for a wedding. I showed up and they first tried to get more money out of me because they saw that I was dropped off and assumed I had more than two people. They then for some reason said that they could not find my booking but took my card and charged $150 to it. I thought I had already paid but they told me the payment had been canceled. So I finally got into the room and was completely grossed out by it. Yellow sheets, cigarette burns, just shoddy. As if that wasn't enough they called me to tell me that my payment did not go through. I immediately checked my banking app and they had indeed charged me. So I went down to their office furious and this lady started yelling at me that I only wanted to stay there for free and that they had refunded me the money but I must have spent it and forgotten. They then accused me of costing them money. I could not follow their logic, and they were yelling at me to leave so I did. I wish that was the last of my horrible story but it continues. Because of the incident, I contacted my bank to get the charges reversed. After about a month my bank contacted me because these horrible business owners told the bank that I had stayed in the room for more than six hours which justified them charging me $150. I was literally in the room 20 minutes before they called me to the office for not paying. This makes no sense, they are most likely running a scam out of this hotel. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CREDIT CARD. My family came out from the midwest two weeks ago and brought about 50 people to Twain Harte. I made sure everyone of them did not make reservations with...
Read moreI stayed in this motel for two nights in Feb 2022. The reservation was for a Premium Queen Room and was made about a month before the stay.||||I found the room to be far from Premium; it did not qualify for an ordinary or usual room. The conclusion is based on the following observations:||A. The lock of the room door was glitchy. It was hard to lock or unlock the door.||B. The frame of the room door was coming off. There were a lot of nails exposed.||C. There were two electric panels with holes on them and exposing the inside.||D. The switch of the nightstand lamp was broken.||E. The room was dirty.||F. The bathroom sink and the toilet were small.||G. The rug in the bathroom was not clean.||H. The shower cubicle was dirt||I. The room was right next to a busy road and very noisy.||||Based on the above observations I think that the room was overpriced and unsafe.||1. Overpriced: A subpar room was sold as “premium”. In no way, the price is fair based on the conditions of the room.||2. Unsafe: With the exposed nails and the exposed electric outlets, the room was unsafe in multiple ways. ||||I reported this to the front office multiple times. However, despite reporting this multiple times, no actions were taken. Even after the stay, the attempts to discuss this topic with the motel management over the telephone have been...
