I've had a pretty dang good chicken sando here in the past, so I was excited to finally find time to swing by for a burger. $16 for a Shack burger and fries, not including tax. The pros: super friendly and fairly fast service, a clean dining room, and cold beer on tap. The cons: transparency. If you are out of brioche buns just say something! I would have ordered something else if I had known... -UPDATE- I went back in to try again, sorry I didn't call first, I wanted the most unbiased experience possible! And I'm pleased to say it was indeed a good experience. I made the exact same order, and dined in so I would be able to enjoy a quiet meal by their wonderful little fireplace. After a short wait the gal from the front brought out a great looking burger (on potato buns as advertised, not brioche, I'm dumb when I'm hungry) and a decently large handful of fries. There was nothing skimpy about this set up! Even the pickles and tomato were sliced thick, but not in a way that made the burger too sloppy. I mean, it was a little messy but nothing I would consider a deal breaker. Fries were absolutely piping hot and seasoned perfectly. The beef was cooked thoroughly but not overdone, and gave me the impression this was a hand pressed patty that hasn't seen a freezer. Bacon jam? Uh yes.
Overall I'm glad I gave the Local Press another shot. It's a great little restaurant with solid integrity, and the attention to their customers and little details make this spot a must. I will be back to try their breakfast, and the handcrafted...
Read moreLocal Press in Twain Harte is one of my favorite spots! Their burgers are out of this world—juicy, flavorful, and paired with perfectly crispy fries. The coffee is fantastic too, with rich and bold flavors, while their Lotus energy drinks are a refreshing and energizing treat.
The atmosphere is cozy, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, making it a great spot to hang out no matter the weather. They’re located right next to the community pool, which adds to the local charm. Plus, they host summer concerts that make for an awesome vibe—nothing better than great food, coffee, and live music all in one spot!
The owner, Cameron, is awesome! You can tell he’s passionate about what he does, and it really shows in the quality of both the food and the overall experience. If you're anywhere near Twain Harte, you need to check...

Everything looks nice, but it’s overpriced microwave food. And for some reason, don’t have dark roast coffee.
On multiple different occasions, myself and others have regretfully purchased some “breakfast sandwiches” or other food, and it’s nø bueno.
The first time i went, the nice young girl at the front counter worked hard serving a large line, while the owner sat in the back watching. I looked over at him and he didn’t even smile, and gave me that look like ‘what are you looking at’.
I grew up in Twain Harte, I’ve lived here almost my whole life, it’s really sad.
Also a hot cheeto/musk supporter, so of course, the soul of the business lacks a substance and sustainability.
You might be better off going...
