This place had a bad rap when it was TopTen. So change is said to be good and that's exactly whats going on here at the new, Starlight Inn in South El Monte. The new owners are very friendly. The rates so far are cheeper than the one up the st. They have cable tv, wifi and the rooms are nice. I hope that the riff raff stay away. Its actually a nice place. So the week of 12-15 thru 12-22 I needed to stay some where cause of an injury, for a week. I choose the Starlight Inn because it was the cheepest for weekly rates ! Well you know the saying you get what you pay for right? Well for the week I payed 425 The owner Alex, put me up in what I think was a handicapped room which made it easier for showering cause it was a large bathroom.The water was cold to shower. That wasn’t all because even though he said I would have room service on Mon and Thurs of my stay I didn’t. I had to ask the nice ladies that clean, for towels and stuff for me to clean my room because my room # wasn’t on their list of to do’s. My room had no refrigerator or microwave in it ! As I walked around the property and checked out some of the outher rooms I noticed that some rooms had a microwave some didn’t. The first few nights I had asked to warm up some food, Alex said we have no microwaves. I finally said your lying dude and asked him to grab his keys and follow me. I took him to a room with a fridge and microwave. His response of I don’t know how they got inside there made me want to puke! I told him as an owner your not aware of what in your rooms? That’s all bad! So I wanted to add 2 more days , keep in mind I’m not looking for a freebie. but I just payed 425 for a week plus had to go out every night to eat cause could not store food or warm up anything ! Had to clean my own room everyday, it all adds up when you’re on a budget ! I asked Alex to cut me a deal he said no ! Firm on his 160 for two nights ! My point is these people that come to America to run business need to lighten up! Be honest and provide a service that is due to a customer. Or work with a customer when there is complaints . Read moreHad the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel and trust me I have stayed in some bad hotels. Supposed to have 24 hour front desk service which is a lie. I had a flight that left at 4:30pm my checkout was at 10am so I called a few days before and asked if it was ok if I leave my bag in the room until 2:30 when I would grab it and go to the airport for a few extra hours and at first they told me that I would have to buy another day. After talking to them for a little while and asking to speak to their manager, they've eventually agreed to let me leave the bag in the room at no extra charge. When I got there they told me that I was not able to leave my bag in my room for an extra couple hours and it would be $25 per hour that I left the bag in. Which at that point I might as well just buy another night at the hotel. I pleaded with them and asked if there was any place I could just keep my bag until 2:30pm because I didn't need the room. I just needed somewhere to store my bag while I exploring LA. They eventually agreed to that and assured me they had 24-hour front desk service so wouldn't be a problem to get my bag later. I told him I'd be back at 2:30 at 2:30. There was no one at the front desk for the next half hour. I finally got my bag at 3 and barely made my flight. Read morewould not recommend staying here. we came for work and the room itself had a slight smell but was bareable for a night. the shower was unpleasant, i refused to bathe in that tub simply because the shower head itself looked as though it hasn’t been replaced since they built their location. there was indeed roaches, that i read on a previous review, it was by the bed & while in the bed, it felt as though bugs were crawling on me but i only woke up with 1 bump on my right arm. the “bar” area underneath the television was still sticky from the previous customers that stayed & it was overall disappointing. there was a young lady at the front desk that was very rude for absolutely no reason to my peer while inquiring about the rooms we checked out of in the morning to make sure; 1. they got their keys & 2. our company would be reimbursed for the remainder of the week because our stay was booked for saturday to the following sunday. needless to say, our higher ups will be handling the dispute. unless you’re on a strict budget or need something fairly quick for the night, i wouldn’t recommend wasting your money....
