Cozy bed and breakfast with just a few rooms. Quiet location located just outside of the entrance to URI. Plenty of private parking in the driveway which is located in the back. of the house. This was important for us since we were traveling with our bikes. The English style gardens were well maintained and a nice touch. Room size was fine. Our bathroom had a stall shower with plenty of hot water. Plenty of towels. A small refrigerator was located just outside the room with water bottles available. There was also a Keurig coffeemaker with a variety of pods offered, Creamer was kept in the refrig. Both our room and all the common areas were very clean.|When we arrived, we were asked what time we wanted breakfast. The hostess seemed very accommodating. There was the option of eating on the small deck outside, and also in a sunroom off the parlor. We did not use either since we were there on a very humid day and ate in the dining room. The breakfast was excellent and varied. |Since we were here on an overnight to bike on the William O'Neil Bike Trail, this was an excellent location to reach the trailhead at the Amtrak Station in town. We also went to a performance at Bill Haney's Theater by the Sea, which was very convenient (approx. 15-20 minute drive). I would also highly recommend getting tickets to a performance if you are in the area during the summer. ||Finally, we felt what we were charged was very reasonable for the...
Read moreMy husband, 11 year-old granddaughter and I noticed a B&B sign on a lovely home directly across from the University of Rhode Island. On a whim, we stopped and Dana welcomed us warmly. She took us on a tour of this beautiful property and we fell in love, especially with the magical gardens behind the home. Graceful ivy bedecked gazebos stand in a professionally designed garden, complete with a fountain, dining table and fire pit. The gurgling fountain muffled any noise from a passing car.||We were entranced. Dana magnanimously offered to serve us breakfast there, even though she usually serves it in the lovely sun room or elegant dining room. Her breakfasts were 5 star, beautiful presentation and even tastier that they looked, if that is possible. Every day it was delicious, but the potato shelled vegetable quiche was unforgettable. Our granddaughter photographed nearly every inch of the gardens and loved the company of a resident squirrel.||We are looking forward to returning to this amazing B&B as soon...
Read moreWe stayed for one night at Sheppard's B&B last week during a short visit to Kingston. We wanted to be by the University and this spot was just perfect. It is located right outside the campus stone posts with a view of the URI President's house out the front door. The B&B is lovingly kept, filled with wonderful pieces of furniture and knick knacks. Our room was comfortable, although the bed a bit small for the two of us. Our issue however not theirs ;-). The bathroom was well appointed and everything was very clean. The best part, however was breakfast. Dana made an incredible breakfast for us, so much food and all of it so delicious. It was a great start to our day. Sheppard's is perfect if your visit is URI centered. It is also convenient to Wakefield, Peace Dale, and other areas around Kingston. Parking is easy in the back, and if we return to the Kingston area we would...
