The location can't be beat - it's one block away from the beach, and the parking lot solves the street parking situation (no overnight parking). The place is cute enough, if not dated. Rooms are clean, and there's a nice terrace out front with chairs. However, the service - or lack thereof - is what killed it for me. The people who run the Inn could not be less friendly if they tried. From check in to check out, I was astounded at how unfriendly they were. I would imagine that when people come to stay during a pandemic, they would be EXTRA appreciative; however, it felt like they could not care less. The beach chairs are horrendous - unless you have the body of a 7-year-old, you won't fit in them. When we came back to the Inn and ran into a female staffer, we told her we had a great day but had to spend $54 each for new chairs because these were so bad. Her response was, "yeah, they're not great. That's why we tell people to bring their own." We called to reserve and were assured we did not need to bring our own because the Inn had chairs and towels. 95% of the time, there was nobody at the desk when we needed something (or anywhere, in fact, as we called out and nobody answered). Upon checkout, we went to return our beach badges and - SUPRISE - there was nobody there. We called out hello? HELLO? HEELLOOO?? and finally someone peeked her head around a doorway, glanced at us, and returned to her phone call. There are plenty of beautiful places to stay in Spring Lake with warm customer service who appreciate their customers. This is not one of them and we will not...
Read moreAndy & Barbara (the owners) are absolutely the NICEST and MOST ACCOMMODATING people you could ever hope to meet. I scheduled my first visit to their historic mansion as a (much needed) getaway after 2 previous weeks of unrelenting stress. As it was mid-November it was fairly quiet. I was shocked when on Friday evening EVERY room was suddenly filled for the entire weekend-the same thing happened on Monday morning. Incredibly quiet, then COMPLETELY full for the weekend. The town is lovely and "old fashioned". No chain stores-only independently owned shops (2 hand made candy stores!) and the weather was unseasonably warm. Andy & Barbara knew every guest by name and remembered which breakfast food they preferred-unbelievable! I was treated like family. I cannot wait to return for a summer stay at their wonderful historic mansion. *I should mention that my car COMPLETELY died in the middle of an intersection, 2 miles from the Inn, the evening prior to my departure. An off duty NJ State Trooper fortunately, was the vehicle behind me. He pushed my car to a safe location and drove me back to the Inn-SO KIND! After sobbing on the shoulder of the wonderful gal who cares for the Inn overnights (forgive me! I cannot recall her name...), wonderful Andy caught wind of the issue, drove me to meet the tow truck driver and offered to make any arrangements to help including allowing me to continue to stay at the Inn-as I said, "like family". My friend drove 95 miles to get me and drove me home. I was...
Read moreOur Corner Room was lovely and clean. Basic amenities such as cable tv, shampoo & conditioner combo, soap and small fridge handy for leftovers from restaurants that had huge portions. We are Americans but live in Dublin so been to quite a few B&Bs now. This B&B is in a very charming old house set in a residential area 2 blocks from the beach and a short stroll to the shops and restaurants. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights. We received 2 tags to gain access to the beach and pool amenities. Don’t lose these as you will have to pay to replace them. The hotel also provides beach chairs and towels as well as a shower in the back to rinse off the sand, sweat whatever off before going back into the house. Staff is very helpful and kind should you need it. We did not avail of any room service as we had a short stay. As some have mentioned the breakfast is mostly a cold breakfast. It is a variety of yogurt, fruit, bread (croissants and other soft white breads), different cream cheese flavors, peanut butter and jam, cereals, eggs that look like they were made in a muffin pan, hard boiled eggs, coffee, orange juice and muesli . I do prefer a hot breakfast and would have like to see 🥓 waffles/pancakes/bacon/ breakfast sausages but that is purely a personal preference. We went out for breakfast the next day to get our hot breakfast fix🙃 and that was amazing. I’ve reviewed...
