Winner of the best Ice Cream experience Spring Lake area!
Let me start off by saying, WOW!
My girlfriend and I reside in Spring Lake and we always have the craving for ice cream. We have tried just about all the major shops in the area including Hoffman's, Belle's and Sundaes -- which are all good and highly recommended.
This weekend, my girlfriend told me about SUNDAE TIMES, a place she went to in the 70s, as a child. I wasn't keen on trying it, since I already had my established favorite ice cream shops, but to please her, I agreed to go.
SUNDAE TIMES is an actual ice cream parlor that reflects the look and ambience of a place from yesteryear. When you walk in, you are hit with the aroma of freshly made waffle cones. There was no doubt, my girlfriend and I had to try them.
I am a soft-serve kind of guy and it was essential that this place offered it. I was very happy to see two soft-server machines behind the counter. I asked for a large soft-serve in vanilla waffle cone with chocolate sprinkles. What I was handed was this monstrous portion of ice cream in this large waffle cone. It was overwhelming to the eye, but the heaping portion was most appreciated. If you ask for a large, you are gonna get large. I thank Sundae Times for not skimping on portions.
The waffle cones are the star here. I have never tasted waffle cones as good as these. No wonder! They are freshly made in the store. They are delectibly crisp, with a light crunch, and an underlying maple flavor that accents the ice cream inside perfectly.
Ice cream is overly priced these days post covid, but remarkably, my large cone and my girlfriend's medium cone came to about $17. That's not great, but it could have been worse. I thought the portion size made it a better value.
There is a huge selection of hard ice cream with interesting and unique flavor combos. The quality is 5-star.
Easily accessible by anyone on the beach, though the biggest drawback in the Summer is parking. It's all on the street and during a Summer weekend, those spots are taken up by beach goers. Still, we arrived around 3:30pm on a beautiful Saturday and found a parking spot out front. The place was busy, but the lines moved quickly. The young people working behind the counter were extremely nice and very willing to let you browse and ask questions. Fantastic level of customer service here.
This is now my favorite place to get Ice Cream. I won't go to Hoffmans, Belle's or Sundaes anymore after eating here. This place takes Ice Cream to a new level. And, fortunately, since it's off the beaten path, it's not a tourist hangout nor a mob scene on the weekends as the other places I previously mentioned.
Seriously, this is probably one of the top Ice Cream parlours you will ever have the pleasure to eat at. Bravo to the wonderful staff and the owners who still believe in offering good portions at...
Read moreTimes have been tough. I recently divorced (my idea not his) and wanted some time for myself. I always heard what a cute little town Spring Lake, New Jersey is. Well... They weren't lying. I was strolling around the pond when I stumbled upon what looked like an old newspaper building, but people were walking out with ice cream!
As I entered I was greeted by the nicest staff. Sundae times was able to fill up the empty spot in my divorced heart with their delicious brownie sundae. It's another cash only ice cream place, but definitely worth it! NEWS FLASH! Sundae...
Read moreStopped by on a summer night after hearing all the hype, and ended up waiting forever in line. Honestly, the ice cream was... fine. Tasted like any standard homemade place, nothing that blew me away. The server didnât seem too thrilled to be there either, but to be fair, it was late and probably a long day for her. All in all, it was okay, but not worth the long wait. Maybe better earlier in the day when...
