We greatly enjoyed the stylish accomodations provided by the Artbliss Hotel in Stevenson. The A-frame Cabin #2 is a marvel of Scandinavian design with many appealing features, including the downstairs bedroom/living room with great bed and comfortable seating area, a remarkable bathroom with a spectacular shower, a well-thought-out small kitchen area. That there was a little outside deck with two chairs with a distant view of the Columbia River was another plus. But we were not prepared for the Artbliss' major drawback -- the fact that it is right adjacent to Stevenson's main drag, which proved to be busy with non-stop traffic well into the Friday evening. The hotel, in fact, is on a little hill directly overlooking the roadway, a hill that has the effect of greatly magnifying the considerable traffic noise. So our stay at Artbliss certainly did not provide a blissful night of sleep. In fact, we had to resort to running the air-conditioner in the middle of the night in the mostly in-vain attempt to drown out the traffic noise. Ear plugs should be part of the necessary room accessories at this hotel. Also, the hotel's website should alert travelers to the "possibility of traffic noise" during their stay, so they are not as surprised as we were by this significant impact. We liked, even loved, almost everything else about the Artbliss Hotel but the traffic noise did mean that we probably would not stay...
Read moreWe were concerned by a few reviews mentioning traffic and train noise as the cottages are located on the main highway through the little town of Stevenson. We stayed in Cottage #4, one of the 2 located to the rear of the property, which have the wonderful large, deep outdoor tubs on the back decks (the tub filled quickly with plenty of hot water). Nice soft robes were provided. While there is definitely traffic and train noise, it was cool enough at night that we had the windows closed and the noise was not all that bothersome. If you're really concerned about it, Cottage #3 probably has the least noise due to its location. The interior of the cottage was spotless and beautifully decorated with a Scandinavian motif. The small kitchenette was well-equipped. We decided to sleep in the loft for a unique experience, with the sunlight coming in through high windows in the front and back, and a peekaboo view of the distant scenery (we like to rise with the sun). The location is perfect for the many activities available in the area, with the beautiful old Bridge of the Gods nearby. Stevenson is a quaint town with great local eateries within a few minutes walking distance of Artbliss. It's also only about a 20 minute drive to Hood River. Tom was quick to reply to questions we had by email. Highly...
Read moreThis hotel was a nice experience on the inside. Very updated and comfortable bed. Although the hanging out spot like the couch were a bit small if you are larger. The location for the cabin I stayed in was noisy because it is right next to the road. You won’t get much privacy from the balcony. The view is nice but just don’t look down at the street rural stores across the way. Also construction just started right next door so it may be louder during the day. The plus side is you can walk to restaurants and bars. So if you are not too focused on having a relaxed out in nature retreat you will love the location. The hill to get into the parking lot is a bit steep and the parking lot is small. I don’t recommend coming here with small children. It’s not really kid friendly inside the hotel either. The staff were easy to contact and were accommodating. Good solid location to stay in the area for being within...
