I'm compelled to leave a review after reading some reviews here that I believe are either disingenuous or fake (I'll get to that at the end).
First I'll address Mike's review, which is what spurred me to leave a review at all. He says the owner doesn't do good deeds- that's entirely false. My family has been going through a rough patch, and the owner gave us enough clothes for free for my growing son that we won't have to buy clothes for at least six months. And these weren't just the clothes she couldn't sell for a tax write-off. These are quality, name brand clothes. So just because Mike didn't see it with his own eyes, doesn't mean that she's not giving back- she absolutely is.
The other thing mentioned is pricing. Most things are priced under $10. A thrift store won't stay in business at yard sale prices anymore- finding stuff in a store for a quarter just doesn't happen anymore.
Then there's Janet's really bizarre review. She says there's not enough "exotic" stuff (whatever that means?). Riverside Resale isn't just for people like her that come out to the gorge a couple of times a year, as she says. It's for the communities in Stevenson and Carson to have affordable goods year round like kitchen supplies and clothes. Not candles during tourist season. And to that end, I think this store does a great job.
Lastly the reason I think those reviews are fake or exaggerated- neither Mike not Janet has other reviews listed. And they both left one star. Usually one star reviews are saved for when an owner does something REALLY bad, which neither claimed an example of. And it really says a lot about Mike and Janet (if they are real) if tearing down a woman-owned, independent, community-oriented business is how they want to spend their time. So don't believe the negativity folks. The fact that the good reviews outweigh the...
Read moreRiverside Resale is a breath of fresh air and such a blessing to our community. The prices are fabulous. I was just in there and she has an amazing Columbia men's winter jacket for $17! Earlier this year my son misplaced his swim trunks, and I dreaded the long trek to town for new ones. Riverside had them for a couple bucks a pair. Today alone I bought several tops, a brand new rain jacket for my youngest, two pairs of pants, boots, sweaters, and Halloween accessories and spent a whole $56! I couldn't get one outfit for that price in town! Her prices are better than goodwill and other thrift stores. The shop is clean and very well organized. The hours are great, and there is a wide variety in items and sizes. I've been a regular since she opened and have never been disappointed or walked out...
Read moreI am a thrifter. I drive down to the gorge about twice per year on average. The last time I was here this store was under different ownership. I have to say as a thrift store this place has gone down hill. This store was known for its exotic incense and candle making. I was very happy that the store was finally serving a younger population group. No, I am not happy with my experience here. The previous owner made the place exotic and would help me find whatever I wanted. There used to be tons of inventory. Not so much anymore. I brought in a donation the employee/owner shook their head at me. I don't use google much for reviews (mostly Facebook) but felt this review needed to be out there. Definitely this is a 1 star experience. I will not be...
