Beyond a doubt the "WORST" Best Western we have ever stayed at. Here goes Pros & Con's. Fast bottom line: We checked in and checked OUT the same day. It may look nice from first drive up but all ends there. IF in the mood read on... PRO'S: We had advance reservations but decided since our drive would get us in later we went on line and did the advance pre-check even though we had provided our credit card in advance but since we had requested a handicap access room we felt it would make our check in easier. CONS: "Don't bother." Carla at the check in desk paid no attention to the Pre-check in efforts. Since my partner is in an electric wheelchair and travels in a Handicap Van we had pulled up directly to the front entry. The check In desk was in plain sight . Carla requested a driver's license so I stepped outside to get it. Upon return she said he had to come in to physically see him. I explained we had requested a handicap room. That my partner was in a wheelchair and could she please just step to the door and she could see him. Since there was also another assistant at the desk I was shocked at her refusal. Then it started. The check in process was started all over. New card, new ID New fill out forms. Unacceptable! CONS: Next she added and extra $100.00 to our invoice for what was referred to later as "Sundries". Turns out meaning that if you damage the room or smoke in it etc. Went alone with that since told refundable if damage was not noted. More to follow on that. CONS: The handicap parking location was not convenient because there is a door prior to the hall before your room requiring a different card access key. Sent up a flag right away. No way for a handicap person to easily get their things in the room. Not easy for anyone since no stopper on the door to hold open during unloading or loading. CON'S: The room although marked Non-Smoking reeked of cigarette smoke. The floor lamp in the corner was leaning and broken. The water was running in the toilet and room did not smell clean or look it. Knowing they had our $100.00 deposit in tow for (ie) any damages we headed straight to the desk. Informed Carla of the damages and requested another room. Carla advised she would make note of the damages but refused our request to change rooms. It was now after 7pm. After traveling 6 hrs on the road we checked out exhausted, frustrated with the whole experience and had to find another motel. PRO's: You NOW know about it and will not have to find another motel after a long day because you can avoid ever checking in to The Best Western in Stockton in the first place! Do not believe their pictures. It is all ...
Read morePrior to our arrival, I spoke with a manager named Robbie about being able to check in early. He was wonderful. Said he would make notes and to let front desk know we spoke to him already once we arrived. Upon arrival, I walked in and was not greeted by front desk clerk (red head girl.) I asked to check in and she rudely responded, “Check in isn’t until 3pm.” So, I kindly explained to her that I spoke with Robbie about an early check in. She kind of just rolled her eyes and said, “oh let me check.” After finding what I said was true, she got me my room, handed me my ID and Debit card and just said my room was to the right of the building. I was a bit confused because she forgot to give me my key card. When I asked her if I may have my key card and room number she just said, “Oh, yeah” and just rudely handed me the key. Since when did everything become self service? If I was able to check in, get my own room, and key card without having to deal with someone who clearly hates their job I would have much rather went that route.
Prior to that, my sister in law checked in without any problems. The lady that helped her said she would block off a room next to her since we were traveling together for a wedding and wanted to stay together. After realizing my room wasn’t the room next to hers, we went back to front desk to figure out the mix up. Needless to say, because they “accommodated” us by giving us the room next to my sister in laws, they then said that we had to wait for 3pm for check in time because they weren’t able to make both accommodations on either checking in early and/or having rooms next to each other.
If I wasn’t already getting charged for the room, I would have left and booked somewhere else. I think at that point I’d rather sleep in my car than to deal with such a rude front desk who knows nothing about customer service. Even after all that, I still wanted to believe that maybe it was just a bad day for them… but I was wrong. Even after check out it was straight to the point. “We will email you your receipt.” No thank you, no how was your stay, nothing. If you want a Motel 6 experience , come here....
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel when my daughter had a cheer competition in Stockton. This hotel shares a parking lot to a low end grocery store. There are a lot of undesirables just hanging out. There is no secure parking for hotel guests. I had to take everything of value out of my vehicle as I didn't feel it was safe to leave it in.
I probably would never stay here again. Maybe if it was a...
