Sunday, July 20 2025 @ 12:43, Walked into the restaurant. One customer is eating at a table. Small place. I decided to order to go and take it home.

Young Man came to the counter and asked if this was my first time visiting.Yes.

He had a professional demeanor and gave a brief introduction of the menu, and I settled with Oxtail with rice and cabbage. I asked for a side of Yams.$34.96 is what was asked for. He said it would take about 20 minutes. I didn't have any issues with that. I went out to sit in my truck. Twenty minutes later, I went back inside. Sat at a table to get a photo of the menu. Seconds later, the nice young lady handed me my order with complimentary lemonade. I'm on my way home now.

Opened the secure bag and took out the prize.

The food presentation was excellent!! I then proceeded to taste me meal: Rice: Nice and fluffy! Cabbage: Crisp and flavored perfectly. Yams: Very good taste without the heavy syrupy taste. Yams were perfectly sweetened. Oxtails: It was plentiful! Meat was VERY tender. Even though I prefer my beef more medium, these were more well done, which didn't take away from the flavor or the tenderness of the meat.

I admit that after reading some of the other reviews before my arrival, I came in with VERY LOW expectations. I am glad to have come here and have my OWN experience.

If this restaurant continues with the trajectory of this review (professional attitude, cleanliness, and great menu items ), they will be the "go to" Soul Food spot in Stockton!

Family owned and operated. Awesome little spot in Stockton. My daughter, little guy, and I stopped here late night for a bite to eat before heading back to the hotel. This is a cash, Zelle, Apple Pay, or CashApp only store. I had little cash, so the owner pointed out the bargain baskets for $5. My kids got chicken tenders and fries and I opted for the fried basa (fish) and fries. I figured for $5 we'd get a few small pieces of meat and fill up on the fries. The tenders were around 6 inches a piece and came with three of them on top of a bed of fries with a side of ranch and ketchup! My fish basket came with a handful of fried fish strips on top of fries along with homemade tartar sauce and ketchup. The fish and chicken were tasty and the fries were fresh and crispy! 10 / 10 would recommend to anyone looking for a home cooked southern meal. I spent $52 with them and know where on the menu did it say "sugar in oxtail/in your food) my kids father is a diabetic and he had nothing but sugar in all the food. So I called them the next day (today 4-27-25) and they did not offer up no apology. They told me I was supposed to tell them that he was diabetic as if we knew they put sugar in all of their food. He said I was supposed to announce that, that's crazy. Now I can see if my child or someone that was with me was allergic to something then yes I would ask them if they put that in food but not sugar. All they did was try to justify and not take accountability for making him sick. I would never go back.
