I would give this school zero stars if I could. The courses are supposed to be fast paced but really they just barely teach you what you need to know. Their staff is virtually unhelpful aside from 2 members who were actually there for me throughout my program (Mrs. Del and Mrs. Reyes). Teachers are most concerned with the social aspect of school, not teaching. For example; Mr. Jesus Peña was an instructor of mine who took it upon himself to do whatever he could to make things more difficult. This included; ignoring me in class, making snide remarks to myself and other students in class, refusing to grade my work and making another instructor do it, making me complete my work in a separate classroom from the rest of my class, and going above and beyond to speak about me with other instructors behind my back. Other staff members were known to approach students with terrible attitudes (Mrs. Escobedo) and the sad part is this instructor was in charge of the “mentorship” program; yet had the worst attitude out of everyone I met there. One of the biggest problems I had was each of our in person days were spent doing nothing in a classroom and instead spent behind a computer screen usually learning nothing. When I inquired about getting more work (because I was ahead of every single student in the class) they told me to, and I quote, “humble myself down to the level of my fellow students”. Yes, you read that correctly, they wanted me to act stupid to fit in with the class after I asked if there was something I could do to be taught more. Overall the way you are treated as a student for the amount of money you pay to attend, it is not worth it. They lie in the school tour and make you think you’re signing up for something great when really they just want your money and they couldn’t care less about you as a student. I will never recommend this school to anyone and I will never stop talking about how...
Read moreFrom what I have seen in these "reviews", there seems to be a lot of "rumors". 1.) The Syllabus is not an Email, it is printed out so calling it a "Tojan Horse" is completely false. 2.) Hand picking faculty from the "Craigslist pool" is Ludacris. I say this because UEI is in the process of DUAL Accreditation. This means we are already accredited with one accredited body and we are now seeking ADDITIONAL accreditation which offers more benefits to the students and the campus. With that being said, ALL educational staff MUST provide certifications proving they are qualified to teach, not to mention no less than 3 years of ON HANDS experience in that field. UEI seeks qualified candidates from ALL internet resources including craigslist, but only interviews and offers positions to the best of the best. Large facilities such as Sutter-Gould seek hires in the same manner. Welcome to the information age. Furthermore, I can not say this enough. What effort you put forth into your education is what you will get out of it. UEI assists with job placement. That does not mean they HAND YOU A JOB! It means, you are educated, assisted with resumes, mock interviews, soft skills, hard skills as well as job leads. It does not mean UEI GETS you the job. That is completely up to you. Please make your decisions to go to UEI based on reality and not fictional reviews. Most of the reviews I have seen, the grammar used, the verbiage used seems to be from people who had a negative experience due to their own doing. UEI staff, faculty and administration go above and beyond for the students. To the person who turned down a great educational opportunity due to "windows and the walls inside the campus" ~Go re-visit!!! You probably came during the transition. The front windows (were not cracked or shot up, they were tinted and faded from direct sun light) have a totally new look. The campus has made...
Read moreUpon reading my fellow peers perspective on their experiences within this college I felt the need to share my view as to why I give 5 stars. I am a student mentor and a work-study participant. I am a Veteran, this college has gave me no issues since I started this program. Verification is up to us the Veterans, we must attend class in person 4 or 5 days out of the week depending on your program choice. With this comes extra time spent in the lab working on our future craft. I love the variety of teaching styles and the genuine encouragement with practicing skills. You can have lab time not only with your instructors but other instructors in the field of your choice. If you feel one instructor is not a fit for you, this institution allows you to change instructors. This college has a mentor program, with this program comes a lot of commitment. Mentors maintain an "A" grade as well as high attendance. They also run school events and help out with each group of new students. Mrs. E runs this program, we do monthly events such as host can food drives to donate to charity, donate clothing to shelters gathered by the campus. With this also comes perks. This allows us to help those in need and those who seek knowledge. Not only that but we get recommendations and high praise when seeking externship sites. For certain programs you must complete an externship, which is easily done thanks to our carrers department. By the time you go you should be ready especially if you took the time to read the books, do the work, and practice your craft in both open and class lab sessions. I take my role seriously and help my peers get to or exceed my knowledge while making sure I give positive energy and feedback to everyone I come across.
