The staff at the Inn at Stonington are some of the nicest people I have yet to meet. My husband and I recently spent a weekend here to celebrate our 40th anniversary. I had mentioned this in passing while booking the room thinking nothing of it. When we arrived we were greeted with an anniversary card, bottle of Prosecco, and jar of homemade granola. Our room was extremely comfortable and decorated in a way that made it easy to let go of all stress and relax. Although our room did not have a water view (These rooms had already been booked.) there were common rooms that did have amazing views of the harbor. Each morning, the continental breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals and a wide variety of just baked items. The wine and cheese hour was a nice way to either interact with the other people staying at the inn or relax on your own. Restaurants were all within walking distance and the streets were lined with many quaint and eclectic shops. For people who need more stimulation, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium is only about a 10 minute drive. Originally my husband and I were looking to stay in Mystic but in the end chose to stay at The Inn at Stonington. I am so glad we did. Our everyday life is hectic and the quiet of this weekend afforded us time to just be present to each other. We had more time to talk to each other than we usually do, more time to take walks together than we usually do, and most importantly more time enjoy each other. Thank you Inn at Stonington for a most...
Read moreWow! What an incredible place. Came here for a little getaway with my boyfriend and it was the cutest. To start off the staff were the kindest people so personable and inviting. I felt welcomed the second I walked. After meeting them they always addressed me by my name and asked how we were doing and engaged in small chat which I loved. Every detail in our room was cute with having books laid out, a little notebook and pen, and they even had a carafe with some Glasses for water that water that was at the end of the hall. Great little details. The sitting area is beautiful with a fireplace two couches and little tables. The harbor view room upstairs make sure you check it out it’s a little lounge quiet area and the view is beautiful. There’s a little deck also that i imagine is quite enjoyable in the summer. There’s also a Mac desktop with a printer if need be and plenty of books to read. Parking is large in the back and the streets are pretty narrow so just be aware of that. They also have a wine and cheese gathering every night 6-7. White and red wine and different cheeses with crackers, grapes, and nuts were available. Breakfast in the morning consists of a couple different types of pastries, hard boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, OJ, yea and of course coffee! That’s from 8-10am. We had such a great time we thank everyone I am sorry I don’t remember anyones name but thank you for making us feel so welcomed. We hope to stay here again in the summer! Highly recommended!! Make sure...
Read moreStaff made a huge mistake with our reservation, kicked us out on the 2nd day, would not admit their mistake, offered no compensation and ruined our special engagement weekend. While attempting to resolve the issue they were dismissive, arrogant and rude treating us as though they were superior. The truth got lost as the story went up the ladder to the owner who simply didn’t care I would leave a review. The Inn itself is charming and cozy but honestly it’s also incredibly overpriced. Zero stars was not an option otherwise that would have been my first selection. The town is historically charming and worth a weekends visit but after this experience I’d rather go to Motel 8. The person who took my reservation knows it was for two nights not one because she told me I was not allowed to stay one night only, that two nights were required, they took a c/c to reserve it, took payment for two nights upon check in and even refunded me for the “non existent reservation “ 2nd night upon being booted out?! That plus they allowed us a 2 hour delayed checkout on Sunday which ironically was noted in the reservation. Three solid facts yet we were in the wrong? That person should be ashamed of herself. I left feeling disappointed, disrespected and cheated. The Inn had character and charm undoubtedly however, the office staff, manager and owner...
