We ordered a small vegan lemon cutting cake with vanilla buttercream for our wedding and were extremely impressed with the taste and texture. It was honestly the best vegan cake I have ever had. The frosting was not overly sweet and hard like a lot of vegan frosting tends to be. It was buttery and silky and the lemon cake was very moist and succulent. They also nailed the design we were looking for. Later in the night we walked in on a groomsman eating a piece of the cake, who also said “this is the best cake I’ve ever had, where is this from?” He was shocked to learn that it was vegan. We froze the rest of the cake for tradition but every day I am tempted to thaw it because it was so good. On top of this, the communication with Zest was very quick and they coordinated delivery of the cake to our venue which was a huge help. 10/10 recommend!

Gabriella and the rest of the team at Zest Bakery did an excellent job with our wedding cake and desserts! From our wedding cake, to the sheet cake, to whoopie pies, cookies, brownies, and other desserts, they ensured that the selection of sweets at our wedding was not only visually appealing, but exquisitely flavorful, which left all our guests satisfied. I’d be remiss not to mention how carefully they decorated the scale patterns on our cake, and how closely they matched the artistic vision we had for it. Cannot recommend this bakery enough for weddings or any other large events. If ordering a cake, be sure to check out their champagne cake! We got this with strawberry mousse and chocolate cake with mascarpone filling and vanilla buttercream, and would highly recommend those to any prospective wedding customers.

A delightful bakery in the Velvet Mill in Stonington, Connecticut. We had visited the farmers market in the parking lot of the mill, then wandered around the repurposed mill. We saw lots of people coming and going from this place and after reading their reviews, we decided we needed to check it out. Very friendly service in this light filled space. So many treats to choose from and our server answered all our questions and helped us choose. We loved the egg and bacon breakfast sandwich in the freshly made brioche. We took the carrot cake slice for later and it was wonderful. Flavorful and very moist. Seating available in this space or take it to go. Lots of parking in the busy lot, even on a Saturday morning with the farmers market going. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars Highly recommend.

Congratulations! Your search for your wedding cake/dessert vendor has come to an end.

The Zest team is incredible to work with. We were navigating some dietary restrictions (Gluten Free, Dairy Free, etc.), and Gabriella was incredibly patient answering all of our questions. Their communication was top notch. The on-the-go tasting still involved a conversation with Gabriella at their shop, and it was informative without feeling pressured or sales-pitchy. It was a fun experience that allowed me and my husband to have a fun little picnic and taste all the yummy items.

The options available for cakes and desserts is truly incredible. There's something for every taste preference.

Some highlights: The gluten free chocolate cake was incredible. The regular chocolate was also ROCKIN' with the chocolate mousse. The red velvet was moist and the cream cheese filling had a great zing to it. The chocolate sea salt caramel tarts were a major crowd pleaser (one guest said they could die happy because they had eaten it, and it was the best thing they've ever tasted). The s'mores cookies are so unique, and the mini whoopie pies are such a fun whimsical treat. The chocolate covered strawberries also received five star reviews across the board.

Beyond taste, the team brought our vision for the cake to life. They nailed the Lambeth design from our inspo pics!

Delivery was seamless on our end as well.

Our biggest regret of the wedding is only getting a few bites of cake! We will be coming back for anniversaries to come to get some treats.

From the bottom of our hearts (and stomachs) we...

Yesterday for my birthday my husband got a cake for me. I want to start off by saying we had the same cake in April and it was amazing. I even wrote them that day to tell them how fabulous the cake was. Well my cake was not. The cake was dry… the frosting was pure butter and a bit hard. None of us ate our pieces. The cake literally went in the trash. I wrote and email last night and was expecting to hear something back. I didn’t hear anything from them (no biggie) so I decided to call. I spoke to the owner and explained. She stated “I had to go out and get special sprinkles for you cake” on top of saying that they haven’t changed their recipe of the cake and frosting. She said she pays her employees well and they won’t get the labor back. She offered to give me half off my next purchase. Then offered to give me the other half in a gift card. To be honest I didn’t want either. I wanted a refund as the cake wasn’t eaten and not because we didn’t want to. I have been going there for years and never had any issues really. But this is not how to do business. As I told the owner, offereing to make me a new cake would have been better and maybe apologizing that the cake wasn’t good. Basically saying our recipe is our recipe and it’s good and your taste buds are off…. We all four had the same cake in April and it was amazing and to have my birthday come and be excited to be super disappointed and then have that interaction with the owner… I won’t be going back. Sad because that not usually...

I have been to this location almost weekly for a few months now. It’s a quick and convenient stop for something small to eat and a cup of coffee or tea while we are at the Velvet Mill for the weekly market. Twice prior to this visit, I was missed (and after today, it almost feels as if I was intentionally skipped over,) in line; I’m short and usually the place is pretty busy, so it’s easy to miss me, no big deal.

Today, it wasn’t really busy when I arrived. I ordered, and waited to pay. The person who took my order was making our (2) drinks. Another woman behind the counter saw me waiting (eye contact was made,) and started moving the people in line behind me right up next to me to take their order. She rings them up, while I am standing at the register and card reader because I'm waiting to be given a total so I can pay. She looks at me with a “move out of the way” look, and I say "hi, I am waiting to pay." She says “okay,” then picks up the card reader to give it to the people in line behind me. It's not even because I'm waiting on food and drinks to be made that's gonna take a bit, and they had easy to grab to go items, because they also ordered food and drinks that had to be made.

The food is decent and always quick to come out, but be careful with hot drinks— I have to remember to ask for ice because each time we’ve been here, many times we’re unable to drink our lattes before we are done making a full loop around the...
