Initially, we made reservations at the Clarion Pointe Hotel in Erie, PA, for May 25-27. We planned to spend May 24th in Kentucky. However, our plans changed when we arrived at the Cleveland airport and got our rental car. I searched Priceline’s website to see if the Clarion Pointe was available for the 24th. It was. I made an online reservation for one night. |When we arrived at the hotel, a male hotel staff was folding washcloths by himself (and working the front desk). He appeared visibly stressed. I asked if we could check in early. Check-in was scheduled for 3 pm, but he found a room and allowed us an early check-in around 1:00 pm or so. It was a welcome reprieve after a late-night flight and early morning of traveling. ||Since our second reservation (May 25-27) was the next day, I asked the Front Desk Clerk if we could stay in our room instead of checking out and checking in to another room the next day. Although he initially did not understand my request, he eventually understood and advised me to notify the staff in the morning. During check-in, he informed us that the pool was unavailable (no water was in it).||Later, when my daughter and I arrived at our room, we inspected it and found it different from what we expected. Despite my daughter’s reluctance to stay, I reassured her that we had gotten a great deal on the hotel compared to other options in the area and that we only had to tough it out for a few days.||We didn’t know the hotel was under renovation at the time of the booking. Also, the hotel looked nothing like it did in the posting on Priceline’s website. The view out our window was literally of a trash bin/dumpster for their extensive renovation.|I decided to go to Sam’s Club and purchase some Febreeze and Member’s Mark disinfecting wipes to clean the room before we used anything. We returned and cleaned the room and were surprised at how dirty it was. Not only was it dirty, but the carpet under the air conditioning unit was overlapping, and the outlets on the lamps didn’t work. ||The bathroom was also dirty, but due to the hard non-porous floors, the disinfecting wipes helped. I took a shower and was disappointed again by the stained shower curtain, mold/grime in the soap compartment area, and the water pressure. One of the towels had some sort of stain on it, so I was short of what I could use to clean and dry off.||After my shower, we left to get food and go around the town. While we were away from the hotel, I called Priceline and informed the rep that the hotel was not as advertised or what we expected. I took pictures and have my receipt from Sam’s of the items I purchased to clean the room. By the time we returned, we had procured other sleeping arrangements and checked out of the hotel.||The Priceline rep contacted the hotel, which did not budge on not wanting to provide a refund for the upcoming reservation on May 25-27, which I don’t understand. We checked in on May 24th and out on May 24th. We never stayed at the hotel from May 25-27 due to the hotel’s conditions.||Clarion Hotel in Erie, PA, is listed under the Choice Hotels family. While I do not usually use Choice Hotels as I am a loyalty member with another major hotel chain, I thought to give them a chance since I couldn’t afford the $300+ a night my usual hotel loyalty program was charging for the Erie, PA area during that time. ||That said, there weren’t many customers in the hotel when we checked in, except for the construction and renovation crew. I was okay with not getting a refund for the May 24th stay; however, for the 25-27th visit, we were never physically in the room at the hotel. I asked for a refund since the hotel falsely advertised and the hotel room was unclean.||I’m disappointed that although the hotel was attempting renovations and perhaps needed the money, it would deny a guest the opportunity for a refund since it didn’t offer what it promised. ||They didn’t care. They didn’t apologize that the hotel room was dirty or that they didn’t deliver what they promised. They only cared about taking my money. Had the hotel lived up to what they promised, I would have gladly stayed during my vacation in the town. As mentioned, it was one of the cheapest establishments compared to the $300+ price per night at my preferred hotel. If the hotel had been forthright about what was happening, I could have made an informed decision about whether I wanted to stay there. They did not tell the truth about what was lacking. I understand this is not a 4-star establishment; I only wish it would have been a clean place to rest our heads during our visit. ||Also, the hotel was directly next to a bar, which I would not have reserved had I known. Other people might have been okay with that, but I was not okay with that for my family. Online it said it was near a casino, and I’ve always heard casino hotels to be nice. This hotel was near the interstate and not nice. ||Based on my family’s recent stay, I wish this hotel was transparent about its current conditions with potential guests and advertised an accurate picture of the hotel. The accommodations were not up to the advertised standards and lacked cleanliness. This was an unfortunate and costly lesson that you can’t always trust pictures when making a reservation via a website, sight unseen. ||They lost a customer in me (and my family). Please check the reviews (new and old), as many of this establishment’s reviews are from when it was a Days Inn. Check recent online reviews (on multiple platforms) and see how the hotel responds to customers. I wouldn’t want you or your family to go through what my family went through in what was supposed to be a pleasant visit. Lesson learned. Thank you for considering my feedback, and I hope it helps you make an...

Read moreATTENTION: MUST READ ITS WORTH IT!!!!!!!! I will first say that I have asthma and the whole hotel gave me severe asthma attacks and I know it was the hotel because when I was outside and away from it I was totally fine. The first rooms we got were disgusting. The cabinet doors were off, the shower didn’t look clean, the sheets had stains, the fridge had old chicken wings, the towel hangers in the bathroom were off the wall and slanted, the lights barely worked. After seeing the left over food and stains on the sheets we requested housekeeping. When we got back to the hotel they told us housekeeping wasn’t available because they weren’t working until next week????? Like what!? No. So we requested new rooms and they did not hesitate to give it to us. We get new keys and the rooms were WORSE. There was dried liquids on the headboards, the sheets were more stained, the outlets stopped working, the microwave didn’t work and kept beeping, the fridge didn’t work, the lights barely worked, the towel and wash clothes were brown and yellow, the sheets made me itchy, the beds were uncomfortable, the sheets also smelled like some couple had a good time MANY times. We were also given several room keys to get into out room multiple times but they kept not working and we were left stranded in the hallway. I woke up with bumps every day. The rooms aren’t accessible and they are very tiny. The elevators stopped working and my handicapped brother was stranded past checkout time in the hallway upstairs. I tried to call about the elevator but the room phone didn’t work, and the other room didn’t even have a phone. The breakfast was stale bagels, stale cereal, crusty milk, flavourless pancakes, and coffee and tea with sugar that tasted like flour.
Please do not visit this hotel. It is clear the owners do not care about the property and they only care about making money. It is not taken care of at all and you literally risk getting sick, hurt, or bug bites at this hotel. Everything was disgusting and did not work at all. Save your money and go somewhere better. Trust me, we were gonna use this as “just a place to sleep” but it wasn’t even good at being that. This place genuinely needs to be shut down. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Thank you for reading if you made...
