i go to the gym everyday/ almost everyday and it’s awesome! i’ve done the classes i’ve worked out on most mechanics it’s worth the money in my opinion the only problem is, i go with my sister and sometimes we meet up with friends and there is this one particular worker that all of us have had a problem with, she has been very rude, for starters my sister lost her membership card and she set up the contactless sign in using her phone. it worked for her and then she had to restart her phone and when she tried to log back in it said that the login is logged into another device. of course that’s a technical problem but when my sister went to the front to ask (this particular lady was the only one at the front desk) for help she wouldn’t let my sister in , barley helped her figure it out made us drive all the way home to get her debit card (so she could cancel her membership and make a new one) and when my sister got back she told her that “she didn’t have the authority to cancel/renew memberships” she did let me sister in so we were able to do our workout she DID NOT tell me sister that she could have used her phone number to log in (which we found out the next day when we called/ came in) so this worker (who was not new she had been working there since my sister joined in january) she made me and my sister have to go back to our house to get her card come back , get told she couldn’t do it JUST for THE WHOLE TIME she could have used her phone number. we haven’t seen her in about 2 weeks either she got fired or she’s a manager and she’s not there often. also before we were told we couldn’t bring in a guest, even though we had privileges. When one of our friends who payed for premium (or whatever the top rank of the membership is) gave his friend the 14 day pass she stopped us made us wait like 20 minutes before starting our workout, he had a physical guest pass and she went through a full investigation to prove us wrong. anyways i know this seems like a long review but overall it’s a good gym just the workers are a little weird including one of the janitors who just sat down and watch me and my underaged girl friends do squats and leg/ butt workouts. like this dude pulled up a chair and just stared. mind you it’s pretty obvious we are teenagers, just make sure you guys keep an eye on...
Read moreI can’t stand a Karen and I have never written a negative review, ever. However, I am apparently too fired up about this to let this go. DO NOT sign up for personal training with this gym. It is a scam. You will likely be taken advantage of financially and the quality of training is not worth the price. If you try to cancel your membership before the end of the contract, you have to do it in-person and with a manager. The manager was conveniently never be available to meet in-person any time I was at the gym (3 times I went in - and I had moved away - so this was not convenient for me). The front desk will take your phone number down so the manager can call you back. He will NOT call you back. Because of this I paid for an extra month that I did not use ($240). Then, if you cancel, you have to pay 50% of the amount you still owe for the months left in your contract. So just to cancel I had to pay $365 on top of the extra month I should not have had to pay. None of this was expressed to me when I signed up. They also did not tell me that I could cancel my membership at the LA Fitness location in my new city. If that was the case, I would not have had to pay the extra month. This gym does not care about you. I’m not alone in this by the way. Google “LA fitness personal training scam”. Seriously. Also, I was supposed to have hour long sessions and my trainer only ever spent 30 minutes tops with me. We rushed through the workouts. I did not feel like I could ask questions. I had to explain to him that he needed to explain the workouts to me in more detail because I was confused and discouraged when I was left to my own devices and had to do the workouts on my own (like I had no idea which machine was which, how much weight on each machine, etc). With all this being said, my trainer was very nice and helpful when I advocated for myself and spoke up and asked questions. I really just think that those trainers are overworked, underpaid, and in a crappy position - being spread as thin as they are and having to rush through workouts. If you’re going to get a trainer, do NOT get one through this gym or any gym. Find someone independent who will save you money and headache, give you their full time and attention, and not totally...
Read moreI have been a member here for a while. For a long time, I was satisifed with the facilities of LA Fitness. I used them while in different areas of the country. Their facilities are SPECTACULAR. I cannot nor would I complain about that.
The reason I have given this LA Fitness a 1 star is because of the service they provide. I met with Chris, the director of training at this particular LA Fitness. When he knew I was thinking about taking personal training, he was very willing and desiring to meet with me. He made me seem like his best friend through out our 1-hour long training session. He gave me many promises of how great the training was. Due to that particular session and the level of service he provided to me, I naturally assumed the service would be similar. I was mistaken.
After signing me up for training session which costed around $300 a month, he discontinued all contact with me. I was given to a trainer who barely gave me 25 minute sessions before running to another training session. The workouts were short, unorganized, and not very effective. As an athlete who played all his life, I atleast know a decent workout and it was not what I recieved.
So to begin, the sessions were not valuable. As stated previously, neither was the level of service. I got texts from my trainer only 2 times per month which is very disappointing since I am paying around $300 a month for personal training. Once I decided cancelling my contract was the best alternative, suddenly I get a call from Chris. It is amusing how obvious Chris only focuses on getting money from clients and not provided a level of service his clients desire.
I am Financial Advisor and I know how customer service works.
In conclusion, LA Fitness has great facilities and I strongly believe they are the best gym in terms of price to value of amenities/facilities.
On the other hand, their level of service, in my personal opinion, is focused solely on bringing in profit and not providing excellent customer service to their clients. For this reason, I believe a 1-star rating...
