This hotel advertises rooms on its website that don't exist. The breakfast is not as advertised. They also are extremely poorly set up for people who are handicapped or mobility impaired.||Because we are senior citizens who use rolling walkers to get around, when we booked online we chose and prepaid for an available KING BED, ACCESSIBLE, POOL VIEW ROOM. The room was pictured as having a patio or balcony with seating overlooking the courtyard and pool with lots of palm trees and foliage.||Arrived to find no such room exists There are no king bed rooms that face the pretty courtyard and pool area that are accessible. What they had was a standard king room. It was not accessible and had a tub to climb over (we can't), not extra space to maneuver and no walk-in shower. Their excuse for calling this "accessible" was that it had a bar on the wall.||Because we had no alternative but to leave, after a long day of driving, to find another hotel that might have accessibility, in area with few choices, we had to take one of their |"handicapped" rooms. There seem to be only two, and the one with the king bed was taken. Both are located far to the rear of the hotel and are dark, basement-like rooms. Ours had double beds, no king, and had no patio with seating. Aside from being bunker-like, it had sliding doors that looked out on the parking lot with a view of men smoking by a pickup truck 5 feet away. We had to keep the drapes closed. The sidewalk and ramp outside the back handicapped rooms had been painted and were extremely slippery in the rain when we were there. ||Another false advertisement was that the check in desk had a sign telling us breakfast was now "continental" with only cold cereal, waffles, yogurt and fruit. The "fruit" was a bowl of apples. The cereal choices were Fruit Loops or Raisin Bran. No muffins or toast, no eggs, no breakfast meats, no home fries. In addition the bathroom outlet in our dark basement room did not work. and the closet had two (count them - 2) hangers.||This hotel is built on a hillside with at least 3,if not 4, terraces. At the front entrance, there are steps or a long ramp down to the lobby and the ramp for the handicapped is steep and puts the client out into the rain before reaching the front door. Inside the lobby there is another ramp up to the reception desk. To get to the nearby rooms and to the courtyard and poor area there are multiple sets of steps and switch-back ramps. To get to our handicapped room in the back, we had to reload our luggage into our car out front and drive around. If we wanted that yummy continental breakfast in the morning, we had to drive back up to the front.||No partial refund was offered at checkout even tho the room we booked did not exist. Used the lobby restroom before leaving only to find the handicapped stall has been ripped out. Rollator wold not fit thru the stall doors. Front desk told me, for handicapped bathroom, go up another ramp to the level above. Bottom line: For everyone - this hotel has false advertising about their rooms and breakfast. For the handicapped - DO NOT STAY HERE. You are a third class citizen here and be shoved in the back basement and have to navigate numerous up...
Read moreI went to book a room for a conference I was attending. I went to book a room at $76 plus tax and fees about %25. I just missed out and had to book an upgraded, larger with a view balcony room at $99 a day plus about %25%. That was all that was “available” A $30 a day difference or $60. I showed up waited in line for over 15 minutes to get checked in. The person checking me in was nice. When I got to the room as soon as I walked in. It was toxic from chemicals. Overwhelming bleach and other smells. Having asthma I went out the balcony to call the front desk and told her my situation. I went upfront, and the lady was very helpful again and switched me to a different room. When I walked in the room, it was a much smaller Room like the one I wanted to purchase before. I went upfront to see if they could give me the original rate I was gonna pay. I didn’t wanna pay the higher price for a smaller room, etc. She said I had to talk to the manager the next day. I had a break after my conference. I talked to the manager and he said they had upgraded me and I said there’s no way as the room was smaller. He then started to argue with me until he realized he was wrong. All along he kept saying that it was a fair price and that he wasn’t gonna do anything for me. The way it was handled was wrong as he was not even saying he was sorry for my experience and wasn’t concerned about how I was feeling after walking into that room. I had some issues after I walked out of the room. There was no empathy or compassion at all …just I’m not gonna do anything for you. I said that wasn’t right that they need to do the right thing. If he would’ve been nicer about it and more empathetic, I would’ve probably met him halfway. He offered me a token of $20 discount over two days. And I asked him if he was OK with that and he said he was. And I said that that just was not right again and he should do the right thing. It was not so much about the money now. It was the principle of the situation. When you look closer at the reviews. The way the manager handle situations like this or situations similar to this is way they have negative reviews. Yes the hotel is dated and needs some help but it’s not to bad for a night or two. But with, No consideration, no empathy for the customer’s situation and no desire to do what’s right. I should’ve looked further at the reviews and not taken a chance. As there is a Hampton Inn less than a mile from here that would have been a better option that actually had a descent breakfast and not just...
Read moreThis hotel looks very plain and basic from the street side. It is a little tricky to enter, as you can only drive in from the southbound lanes of route 19, and the driveway comes up quickly as you are approaching the hotel.
I expected a basic-basic place, as the rates were reasonable for the area, and the plain look from the street looked fine, but not too fancy. However, you walk in from a center archway, and from there you can see that the hotel seems to be built on a hillside (which is very unexpected in this relatively flat area of Florida), and when you go into the hotel lobby you actually enter on what could be considered to be the 2nd floor.
The hotel is built around a very large and beautifully landscaped and well maintained pool and hot tub area, sort of resort-style. The typical Choice Hotel hot breakfast is served in the lobby with a generous seating area. There is also a small liquor bar on the other side of the large lobby, seating perhaps half a dozen guests at the most, along with a pool table.
My room was large and well appointed. The HVAC was relatively quiet - I always put the HVAC unit on constant fan to help avoid waking at night from the unit cycling on and off, and that worked well for me here. Plenty of parking in the front enabled me to walk in past the desk, and my room was only a few feet further away.
There was a choice of free newspapers on the left as you entered the large lobby, including a USA Today and at least one local no-charge paper. Check in went quickly and smoothly. My only complaint was a slightly noisy next-door neighbor, who fortunately checked out after my first night at the hotel. It sounded like a young couple, and since it was an 'adjoining' room, the noise through the door was slightly louder than I liked. A very minor issue though.
The TV was a large flat screen, and there was plenty of desk area. The bathroom was large - not huge, but larger than many hotels in the price range, and may have been recently remodeled - not sure.
I ended up spending an extra day here as the facility exceeded my expectations in...
